Blood Sugar
Control your calorie intake.
Regular aerobic exercise.
Avoid sweetened drinks and beverages which contain an excess of
sugars.
Try to avoid smoking or using any nicotine products.
If you are overweight or obese to start off with, losing weight has a
protective effect against developing diabetes later in life; if your weig
ht is normal, try to maintain it throughout your life.
If you find that despite all lifestyle changes, your blood sugar levels
are beyond the normal range over a period of months, consult your p
hysician for effective control of your blood sugar levels.
Cholesterol
Identify the constituents in your diet which have a high cholesterol l
evel (usually red meat, saturated fats/oils) and reduce their consumpt
ion
In addition, there are certain foods like high fibre cereals, fish and w
alnuts which help in lowering your cholesterol levels and reduce healt
h risks.
Regular exercise has a beneficial effect by reducing the harmful ch
olesterol in your blood and also acts by increasing the good cholest
erol levels
You should try to cut down or give up consumption of alcohol which
leads to high cholesterol levels.
For elevated cholesterol levels, please consult your physician for m
edical advice and management.
