Required tasks
The following tasks are required to prepare the FSB for communication
between your control panel and a BMS.

Getting started
Before getting started, make sure the following tools are available:
Description
The FSB-PC2 and FSB-PCLW field server bridges (FSB) are ancillary
devices that provide a communication bridge between EST3 and
EST3X life safety systems and a building management system (BMS)
by converting the EST control panel External Communications
Protocol into supported serial and Ethernet protocols. A list of the
supported protocols can be found in Specifications on page 5.
Notes
The FSB configuration file (config.csv) for the protocol being used
by your BMS. The default configuration file, BACnet IP, is stored in
the FSB. Other protocol configuration files can be downloaded
from my-eddie.com, as described in Programming on page 2.
You will also need the following manuals, which can be downloaded
from www.protocessor.com/tech-support/data-sheets-andinstruction-manuals.php:
Application
This section describes possible FSB communication applications
between a control panel and a BMS. FSB programming, installation,
and wiring is the same for each application.
The applications are:
EST3 control panels can support one or two FSBs per control
panel. Each FSB is programmed with the point events it is
responsible for sending to the BMS.

Programming
Individual system point events can be relayed to the BMS by
programming device addresses in the FSB configuration file. You can
program the FSB by using an external remote user interface program,
or by using the built-in graphical user interface (GUI). The steps in this
section describe how to use the GUI method.
Note: The DIP switches on the FSB are disabled. The field baud rate,
node ID, and protocol selection are set in the configuration file.
Step 1: Download and install the Utilities Software
1. Download the Install.zip file from www.protocessor.com/techsupport/utilities-and-design-documents.php to the PC.
2. Unzip the file, and then double-click the Install.msi file to install the
utilities. The utilities will be used to create a diagnostic log to help
debug programming.
1. Ensure that the Frame GND (FG) terminal is used to ground the
power connection.
2. Connect power wiring from the FSB power terminals on the HOST
connector to a control panel power supply or other 24 VDC power
source. See Figure 5.
Troubleshooting
For troubleshooting information, refer to the FieldServer
Troubleshooting Guide that is available at:

Wiring
Notes
For the power terminals, ensure that the Frame GND (FG) terminal
is used to ground the power connection.
For RS-232 wiring, the maximum circuit length is 50 ft. (15.2 m).
Notes
Power supply for an EST3 control panel is from the Auxiliary Power +/ terminals on a 3-PPS/M(-230), 3-BPS/M(-230), or 3-BBC/M(-230).
Power supply for an EST3X control panel is from the AUX 24+/C terminals on the SFS1-CPU.
For an EST3X panel, configure C-CPU Aux power in the 3-SDU as non-resettable.

Testing
Test communication between the control panel and the BMS to make
sure the desired event points are being transmitted.
