How does the Label on or off, affect the distance the bottle travels?
Prediction:
If the Label is off the bottle then the bottle will travel farther because it has a easier
way for the wind to travel along the side of the bottle and so there is nothing to slow it
down.
Table :
A 2 liter bottle, 20 oz top bottle, duct tape, water, card board, scissors, rocket launcher,
launch space,

Write out a step by step procedure for carrying out the experiment:
1. gather materials
2.take labels of both of the bottles
3. duct tape the bottom of both bottle together
4.grab card board and scissors
5. cut out 4 right angle card board wings with sizes 15x 11
6.duct tape the wings evenly spaced onto the big bottle
7.measure out 1000 ml of water and pour it into the big bottle
8.measure out 100 ml of water and pour it into the small bottle
9. put small bottle cap on
10.go to launch pad and set up and set bottle at 45 degrees
11. turn on air pressure pumper
12. fill bigger bottle up to 75 psi
13. quick turn over bottle and place on rocket launcher without spilling water
14.pull string which lets the bottle go
15. record data of how far the bottle goes
16.repeat steps 7-15 3 times
17.repeat steps 1-15 and change step 2 to keep the labels on
18. Graph your data
19.write a conclusion

Label off Graph
A. Check your experimental design diagram with your instructor and carry out the
experiment.
B. Fill in the data table.
C. Graph your data on Excel. (Use the graphing guidelines.)
D. Write a conclusion.
1. Does your data support your hypothesis? Why or why not? (Describe by referring to
your data! Be sure you talk about your data and graph.)
2. What changes would you make if you did the experiment again and why? (Be specific
to the individual experiment…NOT “Be more accurate” “Do more trials”)

Conclusion:
My data is the same as what I predicted would happen. I predicted that the label off would
make the bottle travel farther and the bottle did travel farther. My label off average was 77
meters and my label off was 68 meters so overall the label off went farther. If I would have
done something different in my project I would have made sure that the label or the wings
were not wet before launching the rocket again so I could be as precise as possible.
