On behalf of National Institute
of
Durgapur,
we
warmly
welcome all the delegates of the
MicroCom
2016
at
NIT
Durgapur.
This
IEEE
International Conference is an
event, which aims to bring
together academicians, scientists,
researchers and scholars to
discuss the recent developments
and future trends in the fields of
Microelectronics, Computing and Communication.
Microelectronics and specifically VLSI research investigates
semiconductor materials and device physics for developing
electronic devices and integrated circuits with data/energy
efficient performance in terms of speed, power consumption, and
functionality. The VLSI area, you all know, has a strong potential
in India and we are quite ahead of many other countries and we
wish to proceed further in this direction.
Research in communication involves the creation, transmission,
and recognition of electromagnetic energy. Wireless
communication is the key technology which brings several
applications together into your Handset. It is affordable and that
has led to the point where Indian is the second largest consumer of
Cell-phone after China. Computing, on the other hand deals with
development of fast algorithms and high-order numerical methods
so that it VLSI compatible and low in power. There are areas
reconfigurable antennas that can be used in multifunctional,
cognitive, and sensing systems; and remote sensing of the
atmosphere to analyze and predict performance problems with
GPS and other communication systems.
There is a need for real innovations that needs to come from
research in all these domain and NIT Durgapur has given a
platform to you to interact with experts from academic area to

industry both from India and broad. Communication Technology

for effective utilization of frequency resources, high speed data
communications, power saving of wireless communication
devices, GPS-based relative positioning method between vehicles
and such, which expands the possibilities of wireless
communications, in sphere of life and environment is the need of
the hour.
In this context I am happy to see the enormous enthusiasm in NIT
Durgapur and specially the Electronics & Communication
Department which is the driving force behind IT revolution. I am
glad to share that NIT Durgapur is part of the Chips to Systems
Design (C2SD) project initiated by DeitY, Govt. of India, looking
into the broader goal of Make in India program. We are pleased to
mention that we are scheduling a workshop on HiSIM MOS
modeling to be conducted by Prof. Mitiko Miura-Mattausch from
Hiroshima University, Japan during early March 2016. An
ambitious project of Device Prototyping is also in the pipeline
where all related departments could collaborate.
The MicroCom 2016 Program Committee has made a major
effort to thoroughly review and finally select around 200
papers out of 600 received from 16 countries. I congratulate the
team for their hard work.
Technical Program of MicroCom is enriched by many
highlights: 4 keynote speakers, 3 tutorials, and 25 parallel
paper session presentations from notable speakers of academia
and industry experts. We are obliged to all of them for making
MicroCom a grand event.
We hope your stay at NIT Durgapur will be Happy and
memorable. Please try to roam in our campus and feel free interact
with professors in other department for possible collaboration
opportunities.
I conclude with my Wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous
New Year.
Thank You.
(Prof. Asok De)

It is our immense
pleasure that the Dept. of
Electronics & Communication
Engg. NIT Durgapur is
organizing an International
conference (MicroCom 2016)
during 22nd to 25th January,
2016. At the outset, on behalf
of ECE Dept. and as General
Chair of the conference, I
heartily welcome all the guests
and
delegates
to
this
conference being held at NIT
Durgapur, India and expect that it will be an exciting experience at
MicroCom 2016 at NIT Durgapur.
The conference has been conceptualized to bring together
researchers working in a broad spectrum of cutting edge topics in
areas of Micro electronics, Devices, Communication and
Computers. In todays perspective of phenomenal growth in those
areas, an International conference of this nature will play a
significant role and pave the way of providing an excellent plat
form for exchanging ideas, publishing work of enthusiastic
researchers from different parts of our countries and corners of
Globe. The conference will present high level technical sessions,
tutorials, invited talk and special sessions. A number of tutorials
on very current topics will be presented by leading scientists and
researchers of their respective domain. This will surely benefit and
motivate the young researchers. The response of the paper
contributors have been overwhelming with submission of around
600 full papers out of which only 40% could be accepted. All the
submitted contributions received for technical sessions have been
thoroughly reviewed by the TPC involving other experts to select
the best quality papers for presentation. Each paper was
independently reviewed by at least three experts. The arrangement
of publishing the proceedings of the conference in IEEE Xplore is
an added feather in the cap of the conference.
The registration and participation of a number of International
author participants is worth mentioning. It has been a continuous
and cohesive effort of all the involved faculty members and
students of the Dept for last one year which helped this cherished
event to take place.
We are extremely thankful to all the eminent speakers,
academicians, scientists who accepted our invitation to deliver

invited talk and keynote lectures. I sincerely thanks all the TPC
members, advisors, reviewers without whose active support and
cooperation, the conference would not have been possible. My
sincere thanks to all my colleagues and beloved students for their
sincere cooperation and untiring efforts which have been the key
for successful launch of this conference. The support received
from all corners and TEQIP is thankfully acknowledged.
I hope that we will enjoy very exciting brain storming and
thought provoking four days of MicroCom 2016 at NIT
Durgapur
I wish the conference a grand success
Thanking you

(Prof. Sumit Kundu) .

On behalf of IEEE International Conference MicroCom 2016,

we take the honour to welcome you all at NIT Durgapur, the steel
city of Bengal which is also becoming the education hub of
eastern India.
The primary goal of MicroCom is to provide a platform to
promote and sharing of ideas which will contribute to fostering
continued research in the fields of Microelectronics, Computing
and Communication. We are proud to mention that six hundred
papers have been submitted from sixteen countries in MicroCom
2016.
The MicroCom2016 Program Committee has accomplished
the mammoth task of reviewing all the papers phase wise within a
short span of time. We are truly indebted to all of our reviewers
for adhering to the tight timeline of the conference despite of their
busy schedule.
Besides an exciting technical program spanning 8 keynote
talks and 32 technical sessions during Jan 23-25, 2016, we are
happy to organize a pre-conference tutorial consisting 3 lectures
of renowned speakers on January 22, 2016. The organizers of
MicroCom 2016 are also pleased to arrange a cultural evening to
be performed by "Sangit Bhavana", Viswabharati, Shantiniketan.
We do hope, staying of all the authors and delegates at NIT
Durgapur will be a valuable one not only in terms of augmenting
their research work but exploring Durgapur and surrounding
places to understand the nature of Bengal.
Finally, thank you all to be associated with MicroCom 2016.
Regards and Thanks.
