ASSIGNMENT 4

LESSONS FROM THE CLASSROOM

Candidates can demonstrate their learning by:


a) noting their own teaching strengths and weaknesses in different situations in the light of
feedback from learners, teachers and teacher educators
b) identifying which ELT areas of knowledge and skills they need further development in
c) describing in a specific way how they might develop their ELT knowledge and skills beyond
the course
d) using written language that is clear, accurate and appropriate to the task

Length: 750 1,000 words


To complete this assignment you should refer to:

your completed observation tasks for peers, qualified teachers and dvd observations
your TP Feedback sheets
feedback from peers
feedback from the students
your self-evaluations
observation of your trainers in input sessions

What to do
1

What do you feel are (or will be) the strengths of your own teaching? Give clear, specific
examples from your teaching to show why you feel you have (or will have) these
strengths and say why these strengths are important. Refer to feedback from your
tutors, peers and students.

State what you have learned from observing your peers, qualified teachers (live and on
dvd) and trainers that you wish to include in your teaching in the future. Give examples of
successful activities saying why they were effective.

Identify the areas of your teaching you need to work on in Week 4. Describe in a specific
way your action plan to address these issues and say why it is important to improve in
these areas. Refer to feedback from your tutors, peers and students.

Describe in a specific way, giving practical examples, of how you would like to develop as
a teacher after the course. Say what you would like to achieve and how you intend to
develop your knowledge, skills and career.
