EFFECT BOARD
THE PEDALS
The MAGNUS board contains 5 separate pedals, all turned on and off using the numbered footswitch beneath each pedal. From left to right, they are:
OVERDRIVE A creamy overdrive pedal wit h 4 controls. The OVERDRIVE knob
controls the amount of overdrive, while the BLEND knob lets you mix clean tone in
with your overdrive. The TONE knob lets you adjust your tone, and LEVEL controls the
pedals overall volume.
DISTORTION Heavier or fuzzier than OVERDRIVE, but the controls are similar. DISTORTION controls the degree of distortion, TONE lets you adjust your tone, and LEVEL
controls the pedals overall volume. Instead of the OVERDRIVEs BLEND knob, DISTORTION gives you a PRESENCE control that can add an British edge to your sound.
DELAY A beautiful sounding echo effect. DELAY gives you everything from a rockabilly slap-back to a space rock freak-out. The DELAY knob controls the strength of the
echo, while FEEDBACK determines how many repetitions you get. The TIME knob
controls how fast or slow the repeats come, and TONE colours the tone of the delay.
In the right-hand section of your MAGNUS board, the TAP footswitch is also part of
your DELAY effect. TAP at least 3 times to the rhythm of the song youre playing, and
your DELAYs TIME setting will sync with the beat.
REVERB For that live sound you can normally only get playing in a bigger room. The
REVERB knob controls volume of the reverberations, DECAY controls how long they
last, and TONE controls tone of the Reverb..
The MODE knob helps you get started by selecting a choice of 4 basic reverb settings,
known as room types.
They are:
SPRING: A short spring reverb with low decay settings, a long spring
reverb with high decay settings.
ROOM: Classic room reverb for an adjustable touch of live vibe.
HALL: Gorgeous concert hall reverb you can adjust as you like.
LFO: Reverb embellished with chorus, perfect for acoustic guitar.
BOOST To give you a shot of extra volume when you need it, the adjustable BOOST
pedal delivers up to 14dBs of extra volume. By adjusting the boost knob on the back
of the unit, you can preset the amount of boost youd like the pedal to deliver.
TUNER MODE
In the right-hand section of your MAGNUS board, youll find some additional controls.
The first of these (in the top left of this section of the board) is the TAP/TUNE footswitch.
As described under DELAY, the TAP/TUNE footswitch is used to tap along to sync your
delay time to the beat of the song youre playing.
To enter TUNER MODE, hold the TAP footswitch down. In this mode, the board is
muted and the tuner at the top of right of the pedal is activated. To exit tuning mode,
hit any button.
PROGRAMING PRESETS
To program a preset, hit the LIVE/SAVE footswitch to enter Preset Mode (red light off ).
Then toggle the BANK footswitch to select the bank (red or green) youd like to store
your first preset under.
Next, hit one of the numbered footswitches to select the Preset you wish to program.
For example, hit footswitch 1 to program Preset 1. The light next to the footswitch 1
will come on, and you are ready to select and save a combination of effects as Preset 1.
Hold down the LIVE/SAVE footswitch for 2 seconds (until the light blinks). Then use
footswitches 15 to choose the combination of effects that you wish to save as Preset
1. You can see which pedals are on by the ON/OFF light next to each pedal.
MAGNUS comes with 10 pre-programmed presets (see pages 8-11), but you can program your own.
To complete the save, simply hit the LIVE/SAVE footswitch again. The Preset is now
saved, and you are now back in Preset Mode. Repeat the process to program all 10
presets.
Note that in Preset Mode, the numbered footswitches (1-5) no longer turn on/off individual effects. Instead, they call up the presets stored within the selected bank.
Note: Only the combinations of effects can be programmed as presets. The control settings
for individual effects are not saved.
SELECTING PRESETS
To select a preset combination of effects, hit the LIVE/SAVE footswitch to enter Preset
Mode (red light off ). Toggle the BANK footswitch to select a preset bank (red or green).
Then hit one of the numbered footswitches (1-5) to select a preset.

Your Magnus comes with 10 pre-programmed presets. The following diagrams illustrate which effects are activated in each of the 10 pre-programmed presets, as well
as the recommended control settings for each effect.
