2.5 miles of Jefferson Street are in the process of

reconstruction connecting the City of Franklins
downtown core to nearby Interstate-65.
This project follows a series of downtown
reconstruction enhancements including the
re-design of Franklins courthouse square
and the development of the citys southwest
quadrant along Youngs Creek all completed by
Remenschneider Associates, Inc.

The focal point of the Jefferson Street project

is a gateway roundabout designed to capture
Franklins manufacturing history. The existing
streetscape will be completely removed and
replaced with new subgrade sanitary / storm
facilities, roadway, walks, lighting, street trees,
wayfinding signage and historical monuments.

Jefferson Streetscape Reconstruction - Streetscape Design & Construction

Trailside monuments and pedestals have

been constructed throughout downtown
Franklin as new design projects have been
implemented. Pedestals feature the city seal
and a mile-marker distance to the courthouse
square. Brad took part in laying out
historical panels to be placed on the trailside
monuments that display facts and figures
about Franklins past time.

Grading of the site allowed for the retaining wall to be offset from the exact center which created
a more naturalistic design. Combining the free flowing plantings, retaining wall and grading
design created a naturalistic landscape in an unnatural environment. Roundabout construction
will be completed by the end of Summer 2016 and additional streetscape improvements are being
planned for Green Street north through the downtown core.

The Town of Brownsburg added a

roundabout at the intersection of
Green Street and County Road 300
creating a southern gateway into the
downtown. Town officials wanted
a naturalistic planting design for
the center of the roundabout. Brad
designed a schematic master plan
featuring free flowing bed lines with a
native plant pallet to allow for species
to merge together over time. Rows
of shade and ornamental trees line
the roundabouts entryways from
the south, east and north. Brad also
completed a set of construction
documents detailing a roundabout
center retaining wall with stone veneer.
