1. Introduction
The GYRAMATIC crusher control system is a compact monitoring unit for the gyratory crushers by THYSSENKRUPP Frdertechnik GmbH.
The GYRAMATIC provides the functions for operation and setting of the gyratory crushers in a convenient manner.
The GYRAMATIC serves to monitor and control the crusher and to lock the individual drives on the crusher.
The GYRAMATIC does not replace the electrical monitoring and control of the drives.
The oil and grease levels must be checked in accordance with the maintenance regulations. The error messages must always be checked.
You must not start the drives without the GYRAMATIC.
This documentation consists the entire scope of setting possibilities for the gyratory crusher. Because of the various different structural versions
and options, it could be that the functionalities described here are not available or are missing.
Caution!!!
When carrying out repair and service work on the crusher or on components, both the main switch on the control unit and the power
supply must be switched off, in accordance with general electrical regulations. Only in this way can complete isolation from the
mains network be ensured, together with ensuring that all components are voltage-free.

1. Introduction
The various display and operating elements are mounted on the front door of the cabinet. The main switch is located at the bottom. The main switch is
used to switch the power supply to the complete GYRAMATIC on and off.
The Gyramatic must be switched on constantly in order to be able to monitor all the necessary units. The lubricating oil is held at operating temperature
(automatic mode)
The touch operating terminal above the main switch is used to carry on a menu-guided dialogue with the GYRAMATIC. This terminal is used for
operating the crusher and for complete entering the parameters (the factory setting is pre-programmed and can be reset at any time.) In automatic
mode the Gyramatic can also be controlled externally.
The EMERGENCY STOP switch is located at the top of the front door. Actuation of this switch interrupts the power circuit (in accordance with VDE
regulations), i.e. all the components of the crusher are immediately brought to a standstill. The EMERGENCY STOP switch can be incorporated in the
entire installation. Internally, the function "Control system OFF" (see programme module crusher control system) is carried out. Separation of the control
unit from the power supply, as per with the mains switch) does not take place in this case. Resetting the emergency stop takes place by releasing the
switch and by resetting using the selector button "Fault reset". The horn, which is mounted above the "EMERGENCY STOP" switch, is used to display
the fault condition acoustically. The horn is reset using the selector button "Fault reset" and "Horn reset". The horn can be de-activated.
The crusher is always operated in automatic mode. The manual functions are only for service and maintenance purposes.

Display buttons
In addition to the system buttons, in the individual masks there are the following buttons at the lower edge, whose function is described in the mask shown below it.
These are selection buttons which need to be touched with your finger in order to trigger the relevant function. The mask can be accessed from the programme
module "Main menu" by actuating the selection button "?".
The buttons in the first column are the control buttons and act on the functional
sequence of the crusher.
The control system is switched on and off using the button "Main switch
ON/OFF".
It can only be actuated after the power module signals its readiness.
The changeover of the operating mode for all functions of the crusher control is
carried out with "Operating mode manual/automatic". The possible settings are
MANUAL and AUTOMATIC. The standard function is AUTOMATIC.
Manual mode is only intended for maintenance and service work.
The button "Automatic STOP/START" stops and starts the automatic mode on
the crusher. In HAND operating mode, this function is not available.
The button "Quit / RESET" facilitates resetting the fault messages, provided
that the cause has been rectified. The programme is reset when the control
system is switched off.
pic. 4
The button "Horn OFF" resets the acoustic signal that sounds when a message
is created.
page 7
1. Introduction
The buttons in the second column are for menu-guiding of the display. They do not have any function on the control system.
The button "?" serves to display mask-related text or instruction messages. However, text and instruction messages are
not present for all masks. (Button is grey)
Using the button "Call-up of alarm list" reaches the current fault message mask. All the active messages are displayed.
When starting the Gyramatic there should be no fault messages. (Exceptions are the deactivation of reserve modules)
Using the button "Call-up of the event list" you can reach the fault message archive where the last 1,024 messages are stored.
The beginning and end of the messages are displayed.
The buttons "Scroll page forwards" and "Scroll page backwards" in this case have the same function as the corresponding arrow
buttons on the system button block.
The texts or instruction messages are displayed as long as the "Back" button is depressed.

1.3 Programme operation
Menus as shown above serve for the selection of programme modules (masks)
or sub-menus. Sub-menus in turn contain programme modules and/or submenus. Selection of a desired menu item (programme module or sub-menu) is
carried out using the Selection buttons. As an alternative, you can use the arrow
keys "Left" and "Right" of the system buttons to scroll through the menus.
There are no other selection possibilities in the masks. Instead of this we use
programme functions. These are, for example, inputting values into the input
fields (target values, threshold values, ...) or the display of values in the output
fields (actual values) or the switching of the operating conditions with selection
buttons (on/off, manual/automatic, ...).
Input fields serve to capture values. The output fields show values or conditions
and cannot be processed. The selection buttons are used as switches.
Values can only be entered in the input fields if the input mode is selected. In
order to activate the input mode you need to touch the value which has been
changed with your finger. All inputs require an active password. (Target value
inputs can be made using the "Code" button (Code: 1111).)
pic. 6
In this way, the input mask is opened. The required value can be entered using the numeric button block or it can be increased or decreased using the
arrow keys "Up" or "Down". The arrow keys "Left" and "Right" move the cursor within an input field.
Inputs are confirmed and adopted by pushing the "Return "button. The change will be cancelled and the value before the change will re-entered without
this confirmation.
Using the button "Return to the Main Menu" it is possible to return directly to the main selection from all programme modules or sub-menus.

2.1 Crusher control system
In this mask, the fundamental functions of the crusher are controlled and the operating values are displayed (differences in the representation are possible,
depending on the order).
The values displayed in this mask represent the information required for
production operation. Displayed information are values for power, pressure, axle
[position, temperatures, oil flow rates, crusher speed, operating and load hours,
load threshold and status information concerning the auxiliary equipment of the
crusher. In addition, at the very top on the right hand side, the time and date of
the GYRAMATIC are displayed. (Differences in the structure of the illustration
may occur)
Using the button "Main switch On/Off", the control system is switched on and
off. With the control system switched off, there is no operating function and the
crusher is at a standstill. The selection buttons in the masks can be processed,
however. The fault and operational message mask can also be called up.
The operational functions are activated by switching the control system on.
Pic. 11
Switching off the control system when the crusher is running immediately stops all units.
page 18
2. Programme module
The changeover of the operating mode for all functions of the crusher control is carried out with the button -"Preselection Manual/Automatic". The possible
settings are Manual and Automatic.
"Manual mode"
In this operating mode, all units of the crusher can be switched on and off (see programme module 2.4 Manual operation). This is an interlocked manual
mode i.e. incorrect switch-on sequence, which could cause damage is prohibited by the programme.
This function is only for service and maintenance work without material.
"Automatic mode"
In the automatic mode, a single switch is used to start and stop all the units on the crusher in the correct sequence and with compliance with the
regulations (interlocking). Switching on finishes with the release of the main drive. The main drive is switched from the control console.
The functions of the manual operation mask are only available with the set operating mode "Manual". The conditions of the units are also displayed when
in automatic mode.
Automatic mode on the crusher can only be started in operating mode "Automatic". Operating mode changeover cannot be carried out when the crusher is
running
" Start <-> Stop"
The button starts and stops the crusher automatic mode. In the operating mode "Manual" this function is not available.
"Lower" and "Lift"
In the manual and automatic mode, the selection button "Lower" can be used to increase the gap (lower the mantle) and the button "Lift" is used to reduce
the gap (lift the mantle). The buttons "Lower" and "Lift " carry out the individual functions as long as they are pushed. The function stops when they are
released. "Lift" and "Lower" can also be carried out under load.
"Feed "
The selection button "Feed releases and locks the two possible feeder units. When the control has been released, the feeder units will also start in an
interlocked mode when the crusher is started. The possible conditions are released and blocked. This function can also be carried out by an external
operation, as an option.
"Crusher start"
The selection button "Crusher startallows release of an external start facility for the crusher. The possible conditions are "external and "internal. With the
selection "external, the crusher can be started and stopped via two potential-free contacts in the switchgear cabinet. The function of the contacts can be
programmed, depending on the order. Intervention via the display concerning automatic start and stop is not possible with "external". If the selection
internal is active, then the start and stop command is carried out via the selection button "Crusher (automatic) stop/start. These functions are also
possible via the Profibus.

2.2 Operational values (option)
The values for the overload determination are displayed in this mask. The
function is optional and is not active in all plants. The mask illustrated above is
a pure output for the monitoring values of the overload measurement. The
overload measurement is an additional protection function for monitoring the
pressure and output thresholds max. and max/max.
Minimum and maximum values for the power consumption of the crusher and
the level of hydraulic pressure can be entered. (otherwise representation of the
threshold values)
In the mask operating values, one counter each is displayed for the power and
pressure (x Max/Max). These counters display how often the individual peak
value (Power max./max. and Pressure max./max.) have been reached
The output fields min. and max. show the lowest and highest value in the last 5
seconds, the data is deleted after this time period and the memory starts again
from the beginning.

2.6 Pump changeover and operating hours display
The "Pump pre-selection" can be called up from the main screen "Crusher
control system" using the menu button "select".
The oil pumps are arranged to be redundant. Changeover can only take place
if both pumps are "not on". In the event of a fault you must first check the pump
failure before switching on the reserve pump.
The running times of the individual drives and the crusher can be read off on
the operating hours counter. By entering the RESET code, you can change the
hours for the running times of the drives. The operating hours of the crusher
cannot be changed.
Pic. 18
page 27
The mechanical main switch must always be switched on. The Gyramatic is only switched off at the main switch for maintenance and repair work.
Operation of the crusher is carried out from the main screen "Crusher control system".
The main switch on the display image can only be switched on if the release from the MCC has been issued. The MCC release is displayed by a yellow
frame around the button on the touch panel. Red signifies "EMERGENCY STOP". The readiness of the Gyramatic is signified by a green frame around the
button.
The standard operating mode (automatic activation) is "AUTOMATIC".
The operating position is set using the "Crusher start" button - "internal / external".
Internally - from the Gyramatic cabinet
Externally - from the control console
The start button "Crusher (Automatic) Start <-> STOP is only activated in "AUTOMATIC" mode and "internal". With "external", the start takes place using
external contacts or via the Profi Bus.
The functions "Quit", the target value input and parameter input are always possible from the Gyramatic.
All units are checked only when they are switched in. It is therefore necessary to make sure that there are no fault messages
.
Checking the current fault list on the display before starting the Gyramatic. The fault list is outputted via the Profibus.
Switching in can only take place if the required operating conditions for the individual units are fulfilled. (Temperatures, start-up times, etc.)
A summary of the conditions is shown in the fault handbook.
For the START of the crusher, the manual block for the feed must be de-activated.
(Position: "Released")
page 28
The empty crusher is always started at the last axle setting. There should be no material in the crusher (empty start).
If there is material in the crusher (e.g. after an EMERGENCY STOP ) the mantle (acle position) should always be just "min" ( approx. 45mm). There
should be no metal in the crusher.
The start-up should be watched locally (drive).
After the motor has STARTED successfully (approx. 15 s) the mantle can be moved to the working position.
If the drive is blocked, re-starting is only possible after a waiting period (dependent on the motor). In this time period you should investigate the cause of
the blockage.
The grease lubrication is activated in dependence with the fill level of the bearings. Switch on takes place at fill level "MIN" or when the Gyramatic is
started and the switch off takes place when the max. value is reached. The fill level is dependent on the axle position of the axle.
The lubrication is monitored by a pulse switch in the lubrication line and optionally by monitoring the air pressure at the valve (pneumatic pump).
The axle position can be changed by preselecting a target value (blue value in the crusher / Figure 11) or by using the inching of the UP/DOWN buttons on
(Figure 11).
The Gyramatic can be started and stopped externally. (Hardwired and Bus). Other functions, such as target value stipulations are, as an option, possible
via the Profibus.
All analogue values and switching conditions can be displayed in a control system via the Profibus. The operation and setting the Gyramatic is always
locally at the Gyramtic.
The Warm-Up function should always be set to 2 hours before crusher start. This will produce short warm-up times for the crusher.
Since the main drive is switched from the control console, the Gyramatic (without main drive) should run as long as possible. (Lubrication).
At an empty running time of approx. 10 min. there will be a message that the main drive will be forced to switch off in 10 min. This message is cancelled by
switching the main drive off or by introduction of the crushing process.
The switch-off timer is reset to 10min by the "QUIT" button.
page 29
Pic. 19
A particular aspect is the mask for the fault and operational messages. This
mask is not called up by a menu, but rather can be selected at any point in
the control programme by pressing the button "Call-up the alarm list". Access
to this mask is thus structured in such a way because it contains important
information which should be rapidly available.
The first line always contains the message which has the smallest address
number with regard to the control system. After this, there are the messages
with a higher number in each case. The messages can be seen in the event
list, in the sequence of their creation (called up using the button "Event list").
The messages are shown in a single line in each case. A status line is shown
above the actual fault message, which contains the date and time of the
creation or the end of the message.
If a new message is created this is shown by the system LED Alarm lighting
up on the terminal. In the event of fault messages (not with operational
messages) the horn can also sound (depending on a setting in the machine
data).
All operational messages and fault messages are listed in the fault
handbook. Under this there are the possible explanations or causes which
have led to the individual messages, and notes for rectification of the
messages. The number in front of the messages refers to the address book
in the control system. It is the fault number and must always be quoted in
questions addressed to customer service.
Messages must always be reset using "QUIT" on the Gyramatic. The faults are only reset after rectification of the fault cause. The reset must be
repeated in this case.
