About Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India


Headquartered in Bengaluru was founded in 1996 as a captive unit to support Daimlers
research, IT and product development activities. We focus on topics ranging from computeraided design and simulations (CAD, CAE) for powertrain, chassis and exteriors to
embedded systems, telematics and developing various IT applications and tools. The
satellite office in Pune specializes in interior component designs and IT engineering. It is
now one of the largest global R&D centers outside Germany, employing more than 3000 +
skilled engineers. It aims to partner closely with suppliers in India for its activities in product

Department Brief: Exterior Modules of RDI/ CDM department which is based out of Pune.
Educational Qualifications: Engineering Graduate, Mechanical
Experience: No of Years: 6 to 11 years. Product Design Experience in Exterior Plastics
(worked on Exterior trim programs). It would be an added advantage if the candiadate has
worked with Global Companies (German OEMs/Tier 1s preferred)
Job Responsibilities:
1.
Design of Exterior Trims & add-on parts (Concept Design and development of
Exterior Components like Bumper module, Grill ,Spoiler, Appliqu, Door Add on &
Energy Absorbers)
2.
It requires you to handle Product Development from Concept to Launch stage
3.
Propose & Evaluate the designs based on the regulations & customer requirement
4.
This requires you to interact largely with Global cross-functional teams
5.
Seamless integration with the team in India & Germany
6.
It gives you an opportunity to travel extensively to countries like Germany, China and
USA for effective implementation during launch.
Skillset required:
1.
Ability to take Design decisions related to Plastic components from
Tooling/Manufacturing/Prototyping perspective
2.
Knowledge of Stack-up, plastic material for automotive exterior components
3.
Knowledge of regulatory requirement - European & US
4.
NX Part Design, GSD, Drawing, Team Centre. Knowledge of DC methodology

5.

Data Management, PLM, Release Control and Co-ordination, well versed with the
Drawing Standards
6.
Experience in Daimler Norms and DBL standards, DIALOG and SMARAGD will be
an advantage
7.
Intercultural Experience: Minimum 1 year of Onsite experience, exposure in Europe
with European clients and also requires interaction with the German counterparts.
8.
Should be inclusive in nature and should have an attitude to work in teams & also
shoulder individual responsibilities wherever needed
9.

10.
Assist team leader to achieve company goals / objectives
