INTRODUCTION
Confined space is a space that is not intended as a regular work and has restricted means of entry or exit. Many lives
have been lost in confined spaces throughout the world caused by poisonous gas related accidents. Most of the victims
were wither overcome by toxic fumes or die of gas explosions. Almost all of the deaths were caused when working in
confined space or through the explosion of flammable gases, which could have been prevented or avoided. There are
many confined spaces within sewerage systems that personnel may need to enter for maintenance purpose. For this,
only trained and certified personnel can enter a confined space.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course aims to provide a good understanding and knowledge of entering and working in sewer or confined space. It
outlines the hazards of working in a confined space, general precautions & step-by-step procedures to be observed when
working in a confined space; laws, regulations & policies regarding working in confined spaces; equipment required for
entry into confined spaces and permit-to-work in confined spaces.
