Infact,atthetimeofSilverJubileeCelebrationsontheoccasionofcompletionof25yearsofexistenceoftheSocietyin
1932,itwasdecidedtostartthepublicationofanotherperiodical,andaccordinglytheSocietystartedanewperiodical,
namedTheMathematicsStudent",in1933withA.NarasingraoasitsfirstEditorwhoworkedasfoundingEditor
almpstsinglehandedwithgreatdevotionforeighteenyears(19331950)andplaceditonfirmfooting.
Itmaybenotedwithgreatpridethat

directorshipofK.ChandrasekharanwasheldatTIFR,Bombay,duringFebruary1956inwhichmathematicianslikeM.
H.Stone,G.Choquet,H.FreudenthalandahostofotherworldmathematicansparticipatedtheentireProceedingsofthe
conferencehasbeenpublishedintheMathematicsStudentVol.54(1956).
TheMathematicsStudentseekstopublishmaterialofinterestnotjusttomathematicianswithspecializedinterestsbutto
thepostgraduate/researchstudentsteachersofMathematicsinIndia.Withthisinview,fromthe2015issueonwards,it
