ELEMENTARY KIDS & FAMILIES

Date:__________________

This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in Gods Word
BEFORE your children attend church. Because Gods plan is for parents to be
the primary spiritual nurturers of their childrens faith, we want YOU to be the
one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them.
HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource This monthly magazine gives your
family ideas for creating fun, spiritually forming times in your homesetting aside
sacred space in the midst of your active, everyday lives.

JESUS IS MASTER
Paul with Priscilla and Aquila
Acts 18
While in Corinth, Paul meets a Jew named Aquila, who has recently come from
Italy with his wife Priscilla. The three work together as tentmakers and share the
gospel.

JUST FOR FUN

Surprise your children by taking them to a fun place theyre not expecting. Pack a
picnic lunch, take a trip to your local playground, or visit an ice cream parlor.
While youre there, read Acts 18.
Remind your children that Jesus is Master and we can trust Him to lead us. Even
though He sometimes leads us in an unexpected direction, He always has our
best in mind.

REMEMBER VERSE
My sheep listen to my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
John 10:27

Summer
Lesson 7

DID YOU KNOW?

Priscilla and Aquila were forced to leave their home when Emperor Claudius
expelled all the Jews from Rome in AD 49.
After connecting with Paul in Corinth, Priscilla and Aquila traveled with himto
Ephesus.
Priscilla and Aquila spent time teaching Apollos, an eloquent speaker who
lacked some Christian training.
God used Priscilla and Aquila to encourage and strengthen the early church.

YOUNGER KIDS
Your child needs to be exposed to a variety of new experiences and activities. As
you nudge your child out of her comfort zone this week, remind her God wants us
to grow and learn so we can be prepared to join in His work. To prepare for this
work, encourage your child to tell another family member what she knows to be
true about God.

OLDER KIDS
Your child is learning that the world is much bigger than his own city or even
country. This week, encourage your child to learn about some of the ways the
cause of Christ is being spread around the globe. Help him research and
brainstorm ways to support the spread of the gospel.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS
After reading the Scripture passage, discuss the following together:
Tell about a time when you chose to trust and obey God.
How can we be involved in what God is doing here in our community?
Share with your children that we are never too young or too old to be involved
with what God is doing.

BLESSING
A blessing can be a spoken prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or
words of encouragement and guidance over your child. For more information
about blessing your child, see the Blessing section in HomeFront: A Spiritual
Parenting Resource @ HomeFrontMag.com
A blessing to pray over your child:
(Childs name), may you serve Jesus and obey His leading. May you trust
that He will guide you, protect you, deliver you, and care for you.
