Marine Construction
We have been diversifying our capabilities since 2009.
Our scope of business covers Marine Construction, and
many projects throughout the region bear the hallmark of
our sound structural quality, exemplary workmanship and
exceptional design - hence our portfolio of prestigious
developments. Numerous jetties, marinas, breakwaters
and man-made islands bear our name.
06
Our diversification into these activities has resulted in sustained and encouraging growth
for the company.
07
Survey
As experts in the field, we conduct surveys before,
during and after each project. For this, we have a highly
experienced and efficient department that conducts
individual services.
08
Hydrographic Survey:
Projects Logistics; transferring various
projects cargoes, materials and equipment
from source to destination.
Side Scan Sonar includes:
Detection of obstructions and other features
on the seafloor.
Gathering of seafloor classification data
e.g. texture and sampling.
Identification of sand-waves and ripples.
09
Geotechnical Works
& Ground Improvement
We offer ground improvement and geotechnical
value-added solutions from concept to execution.
Results often exceed performance criteria, with
significant cost savings to client.
Vibro Compaction
The Vibro Compaction technique consists of
the use of vibro-flottes to increase the density
of reclaimed or native materials.
Vibro Replacement (Stone Columns)
An effective method used for the improvement
of soft clays, mixed clay deposits, silt, sand
and fine sand. Reduces the liquefaction
potential of fine sand when the water table is
at a shallow depth.
Surface Compaction
It consists of compaction of shallow depth
soils, which is achieved by means of an
impact/vibratory roller. This is effective for
granular soils with fine content of less than
10% or in soil that is suitable for compaction.
10
Geotechnical Investigation
Cone Penetration Test
This is done before and after ground
improvement geotechnical investigations.
We are able to conduct a CPT (Cone
Penetration Test) using our in-house mobile
test vehicle. The CPT is the most common
in-situ testing method used worldwide. It
is carried out to determine geotechnical
engineering properties and soil stratigraphy.
Vibro Coring & Geophysical Survey
We offer a fully integrated capability that
includes geophysical surveys (bathymetry,
sub-bottom profiler, side scan sonar and
interpretation) and vibro coring for sand
search and sampling purposes offshore.

No specific marine structures (i.e. artificial reefs) had been built during Zakum project to create
habitat for marine life; however the current four islands shoreline profile and the construction
material made of can provide a possible shelter for marine organisms especially macroplanktons drafted into the islands like seaweeds and algae; and consequently this should lead
to creation of suitable habitats for fish communities and other marine mammals.

Infrastructure /
Real Estate
Al Maryah Island Infrastructural Project
(Abu Dhabi Future Financial Centre)
Mubadalas Al Maryah Island is set to become a dynamic Central Business District
(CBD) as designated by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.
Al Maryah Island is a vibrant, 24-hour
commercial, leisure and entertainment
hub with premium office accommodation,
comprehensive transport infrastructure
and convenient connectivity. In addition to
providing a pedestrian-friendly public realm,
luxury business hotels, a unique residential
neighbourhood, retail offerings as well as
community facilities, public amenities, parks,
open spaces and extensive food and
beverage outlets.
18
Scope:
We were awarded the contract for the
creation of the island, which laid the
foundation for subsequent works.
Work included: dredging, reclamation
and segregation of material and quay wall
construction.
6,087,000 m of dredged material was used
to reshape the Island and as fill material for
construction.
92,400 m dry excavation.
2,400 concrete blocks, 46,200 tonnes
in weight, 168,000 tonnes of rock of
approximately 1,450 m of precast quay
walls were installed.
Challenges:
Al Maryah Island is one of Abu Dhabis most
strategic projects.
Unique location - midpoint between the
existing downtown district, Al Reem Island
and Mina Zayed developments, also the
new cultural centre on Saadiyat Island.
The implementation and utilisation of
dredgers and equipment was a major task.
Guaranteeing on-time handing over of
the project.
Ensuring no environmental impact on the
surrounding areas.

Tourism
Corniche Beach Project
Abu Dhabi Municipality awarded us the Corniche Beach Development Project,
to provide a beachfront of international standards.
Stretching from the Hilton Hotel to Airport Road, approximately 4 km along Corniche Road;
Abu Dhabi Corniche Public Beach is the citys premier beach location, enjoyed by residents and
visitors alike. Work consisted constructing a 3.5 km long beach front. Approximately
3.5 million m of materials were dredged and used for the reclamation of the new beach.
Scope:
Rehabilitation of existing Corniche Beach
to extend it to Airport Road.
Dredging and shaping of sand to form
new beaches.
The beach is protected by floating barriers
and marker buoys.
20
Challenges:
The project posed a significant challenge
due to its close proximity to the general
public.
The beach could not be closed completely.
Our work was closely monitored for
eco-friendliness and strictly adhered to.
Environmental controls ensured our
activities did not harm the fragile
ecosystem.

Ports
Mussafah Channel Project
We were awarded an AED 1.5 billion contract by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning
Council to construct the Mussafah Channel for Abu Dhabi Ports Authority. The
project played a key role in the development of Mussafah Industrial City by allowing
ships to pass comfortably.
Overview
The channel is 63.5 km long and 200 m wide,
with a depth of 9 m. The project entailed
dredging 65,000,000 m of soil, using the
latest cutting and suction dredger technology.
22
Scope
Dredging: 65,000,000 m of dense sand of
which 7,000,000 m is placed in the habitat
compensation island.
Rock revetments: 10,000 m of core
material and armour.
Navigational Aids: 84 buoys complete with
anchor chains and blocks with focal planes
ranging from 1.9 m to a fairway marker buoy
with a focal plane of 4.1 m.
All buoys installed are to IALA standards.
23
Logistics
Das Island Development Project
We were awarded the logistics contract
by Al Naboodah to deliver construction
materials and equipment for the
development of airport facilities on the
island.
Overview
Surrounded by oil & gas fields, Das Island can
be found 220 km off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
In conjunction with the main contractor Al
Naboodah, we assisted in the construction of
a runway and airport facilities. We also played
a hand as subcontractor for the delivery of all
construction materials.
24
Scope
The marine transport of 560,000 tonnes of
loose fill and processed aggregates from
RAK to Das Island.
The aggregates were transported over a
period of 6-7 months.
The provision of two RORO/landing craft to
transport loaded trucks plus general freight
from our jetty to Das Island and return for a
period of 390 days.
The provision of spud and jetty pontoon
barges at Das Island in order to secure and
offload the aggregate barges.
Challenges
DAS Island is one of the largest offshore
islands in the UAE.
All works and operations were undertaken
with extreme caution and a very high
standard of HSE, as the port is considered
a strategic export harbour.
All units that worked on the project were
vetted and approved by ADNOC PPA.
A total of 12 units worked on the project:
The project started with 7 units:
- 2 Landing craft
- 1 Spud barge
- 1 Assistance tug
- 4 towing tugs
- 4 x 10,000 tonne aggregate barges
25
Our Fleet
We maintain a modern fleet of around 70 marine support
vessels and almost 20 dredgers ranging in capacity from
