ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Bharat I Bhatt is currently a Consultant to Chemical

Industries and is based at Ahmedabad. He provides consultancy services in energy conservation, solvent-loss reduction, product improvement, debottlenecking in industry
and related elds. He has a service experience of nearly
35 years in various chemical industries. His industrial
experience covered the areas of project execution, process
engineering, troubleshooting, debottlenecking, production
management, management reporting, etc. He served the
Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO),
Kalol Unit, for nearly 18 years in various capacities. Prior to joining the industry,
he worked in a textile research institute (ATIRA) for nearly 5 years where he was
involved in industrial research and consultation to member textile units. Besides,
he has also worked in a ne chemical unit, an edible-oil processing unit, a bulk
drug unit and a carbon-black unit.
Mr Bhatt carried out unit conversion work from FPS units to SI units of the
Introduction to Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, 6th and 7th editions by
Smith, Van Ness and Abbott, a publication of McGraw-Hill Education, USA. He
authored a book titled Introduction to Process Engineering and Design with Mr S
B Thakore, also published by Tata McGraw Hill Education, New Delhi. Besides
these, he also has a book named Design Data Book to his credit.
Mr Bhatt graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical
Technology, Mumbai.
Shuchen B Thakore is Assistant Professor of Chemical
Engineering at L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad,
Gujarat. He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students of chemical engineering for more than 15 years.
Besides teaching, he also undertakes consulting assignments
in process and mechanical designs of heat exchangers, scrubbers, distillation columns, multiple effect evaporators, storage
tanks, pressure vessels, etc., and environmental audit for
various chemical industries.
Prior to joining the academic institute, he worked in the industry for about 6
years. He worked in Alembic Chemical Works (ACW), Gujarat Alcohol and Allied
Chemicals (GAAC) Ltd and Indian Engineering Software Co.
He earlier jointly authored two books on the subjects of chemical engineering;
one titled Introduction to Process Engineering and Design with Mr B I Bhatt,
published by Tata McGraw Hill Education, New Delhi, and another titled Illustrated Process Equipment Design.
Mr Thakore graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Gujarat University
and did his ME in Chemical Engineering from M S University.
