STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Myself laxmi shrestha, a young, energetic, independent and
strong determined student targeting my aim with full sense of responsibility. I am a resident of Sindupalchok, Duwachaur-03, Nepal, and a second daughter of Mr. Tamar Bahadur Newar and Mrs. Chandra Kumari Newar and was born on 17 th September 1991. I completed my schooling from Shree Bal Sudhar MA.VI. in the year 2008 with 59.88 percentage. From the early days of education, I was very much interested in the field of management. I joined Santwona Memorial Academy a very renown college in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu and passed my intermediate in 2010 with 60.10 percentage. And then joined same college and completed BBS in 2013 with 57.64 percentage. Being a Nepali citizen, English is not my primary language, I did my English proficiency test, in which I scored an overall 5.5 in each band . After completion of my Bachelor Degree, I applied for job and was appointed as an accountant in a well reputed company named Alive saving and credit co-operative limited where I work from 15th April 2014 to till date. Explaining about my work, my job description includes: depositing cash, withdrawing cash, checking passbooks, making entries in journal vouchers. During my tenure I was given lots of opportunities to deal with different sorts of companies which built my self-confident level. However, I feel in order to excel in my carrier I need to learn more about the accounts then I decided to pursue for my master degree .
I am planning to study accounting in Australia where I can get
quality education which is internationally accepted. Australia is one of the best student destinations in the world with the third highest number of international students after United States and United Kingdom. I always felt I was short in the practical application of the course I had previously studied and believe that gap could be fulfilled If I am able to get practical and contemporary education. I strongly believe education system in Australia facilitates innovation, creativity and leadership. Furthermore, Students of diverse culture from all over the globe come together regardless of cast creed and color so as to enhance my skill for smooth application and to obtain a greater level of job opportunity in the future. I thought Australia would be the best option for me. And I choose Melbourne because it is a preferred city for many overseas students and is safe, clean, friendly and multicultural environment. Melbourne is the financial centre of Australia with beautiful climate condition and qualitative lifestyle. And also there are few friends which would be helpful at the initial phase of my stay. Through different education surveys, among many universities in Australia, I have chosen Central Queensland University, where international students are equally treated like national students, and are provided with high skilled and qualified teaching members. It is also the most affordable college in Australia which is rated top 2 percent of world universities and number 1 for teaching excellence. CQ University has a wide range of support program for international students as life can be difficult for overseas students as university has provided range of support programs for the students to acclimatize with their new environment as student advisors are placed in campuses for queries to support. As compared to most of the universities the fee structure is more economical. As the 20 percent scholarship
provided by CQU would certainly be the one of the reasons for
offshore students like me to be attracted towards studying in CQU. Accounting and finance have always been my chosen subjects. Accounting is required right from the planning of a business or venture to the formation, development and running of business. Accounting cannot be confined only to business as we require accounting in everything that we could possibly think about right from governance of a country to a small thing as individual shopping as accounting plays its role. One of the major reasons for my delay of pursuing a masters degree after my bachelor degree completion is because of the high pressure in the office and the actual timing are full time of 9 am to 5 pm but the high demand of pressure would not allow me to pursue my education as its normally not before 6 pm that we get to finish our work. With limited time after office it would not be possible to pursue education and the work at the same time. However, the experience has proven to be valuable and I believe this is the perfect time for me to continue my study. After completing my MPA I see myself working in managerial level in financial institutions basically top commercial banks(Example: Nabil Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Nepal investment Bank) and would like to be among the best bankers in Nepal. MPA would also open up opportunities for me in multinational companies like NCell, biggest private companies like CG, Golcha, and other well established companies in Nepal. My family-in-laws have been very supportive of my ambitions as they are willing to sponsor my education. I would like to have my husband accompany me during my stay in Australia during my education because I get support and care during my stay in a new and unfamiliar condition. As well as in my country Nepal a married woman is not allowed to stay alone being apart from her
husband due to social taboos and culture. I have chosen Australia
to learn in-depth knowledge about accounting and will return to my own country to implement the skills and knowledge that I shall learn in Australia for further personal growth. And my family is capable enough to support me financially during my study and stay in Australia.
