RATIONALE: A predominantly Roman Catholic Country,

circumcision in the Philippines has long become an
obligation and a tradition. Following Christian Doctrine,
Filipinos believe that circumcision is a symbol of the
covenant between God and man. Doctors are debating on
the purpose of a practice that has become a fixture in
Philippine tradition regardless of medical benefits and risks.
Circumcision is the excision of the foreskin or prepuce
of the glans penis. It is usually performed in infancy. In
adults, it is a part of treatment for certain conditions such as
for phimosis, paraphimosis and recurrent infection of the
glans and foreskin, and may be performed at the personal
desire of the patient.
Three reasons why doctors continue endorsing routine
circumcision: (1) for hygienic purposes, (2) religious reasons,
and (3) to avoid foreskin problems (Phimosis, paraphimosis
and balanitis) in susceptible males. Hygiene is still the most
important and main reason considering circumcision.
The DWCL, Level III Nursing students, initiates a
modest way to participate in the community activity for the
circumcision of young Filipino Boys of Dilanis, Pasuquin as a
part of the fulfillment of Related Learning Experience for a
