Windows key terms


1. Windows interface: Desktop (Icons, Taskbar and
Background).
2. Desktop Icons: There are 5 main icons:
(My documents, my computer, My Network places, Internet
Explorer, Recycle Bin)
3. Display Properties: Is used to change Background, Screen
saver, Screen resolution.
4. System Properties: is used to find out:a. Type of the operating system
b. Type of C.P.U.
c. Speed of C.P.U.
d. Size of RAM.
5. Explorer Window: It contains two sides:
a. Left hand pane (Folders pane) contains a folders tree,
showing how the drives and folders linked together.
b. Right hand pane (Contents pane) shows the folders and
files contained in the drive or folder currently selected
in the Folders pane.
6. Folder: Used for organizing data on your hard, Contains
files and folders which called sub folders.
7. Files: Contains data
Example
a. Word
b. Excel
c. Access
8. Rename: It is used to change the folder or the file name
9. File Extension: tell computer which application is used to
open this file.
