March Newsletter

March is here and the Year End shows are coming up fast! Please make sure you are
bringing your children to all of their classes so that they are learning and practicing their
dance that they will be doing for the performance. We are so excited for you to see
everything they have learned! Please make sure that you are sending your kids to class
with both their pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. It is very important to have the
correct shoes on while they are learning. Thank you for bringing your kids to Gravity!
We love teaching your kids and sharing our love of dance with them. As always, please
contact us if you have any questions at 801-512-2468 or
[email protected].
We are excited to announce that Denise Haslam has been promoted to Director over
non-competition classes. Denise has 25+ years of experience working with youth in
dance and is an amazing teacher. She brings a lot of knowledge and professionalism to
Gravity Dance Center and is an amazing example to all our kids. We are so lucky to
have her and are very excited about this new adventure. Congrats Denise!

Team Tryouts
Our team tryouts will be held June 1st-4th. We would love for your kids to try out for our
competition teams. They are a lot of fun! Although it is more of a time commitment, and
the kids are here more each week, it gives them the opportunity to really grow as a
dancer and make new friends that will last a life time. We go to 4 competitions a year
with one of those being in St. George. Our youngest team starts at age 4 and go
through age 18. We have dance, hip hop, b-boy and cheer teams. If you have any more
questions or wonder if your child is ready, you can talk to one of the directors, your

childs teacher, or our non-competition director, Denise, and they would be happy to
help you.

Tights and Shoe Info

Costumes are arriving for combo classes and we will be trying them on in their classes.
Once the whole costume has arrived, we will send out an email when your childs
costume is ready and you will be able to pick them up at the front desk. Please be
aware that your account must be current in order to receive the costume. Once you
receive your costumes, please hang them up and steam them if necessary. Make sure
all costumes are wrinkle free by the Year End show. Below is listed what type of shoes
each class needs to wear for the show. All Dancers must wear Capezio Brand Tights
color caramel, full footed. These tights can be purchased at Onstage Dancewear
(4168 S. 1785 W.) mention you are from Gravity Dance Center to receive a discount.
All Hip Hop classes, Bboy class, Class P and Beginning Cheer will be wearing the
same costume as the Christmas show. All new tumblers after the Christmas show, if
you have not tried on a biketard and filled out an order form at the front desk you need
to do this as soon as possible.

Costumes
Please be sure you have marked your child's costume, shoes, and tights with their
name and class letter or team name. Please do not wash costumes in hot water or dry
them in a dryer. Please wash by hand in cold water and line dry only if needed. Some
costumes may need to be steamed out if they have any kind of tutu or netting. To do
this, you simply need to place the costume on a hanger in the bathroom, turn your
shower on hot, and shut all doors. This will allow all the wrinkles to fall out of the
costume and make it look fluffy and seamless. Never use a hot iron on dance costumes.
Please only allow your child to wear their costume at performances. Do not let them
play in the costume or wear to dance class until after the Year End review. Please make
sure you keep very good track of all costume pieces and hairpieces. It is very important
that your dancer has all costume pieces at their performance.

Summer Intensive 2015

We are so excited for our Defying Gravity Summer Intensive! The kids had such
a great time last year and learned a lot from amazing instructors! We would love for any
non-team members to attend. If you have questions about if this would be beneficial to
your child, feel free to talk to their current combo teacher, our non-competition director,
Denise or one of the Gravity owners for their recommendation. This will be a great

opportunity for all dancers and cheerleaders to learn, and experience new instructors. If
you pay for the intensive by May 1st, your dancer will receive a free tank top.
Registration forms will be coming out in April, along with more information.
Dance Summer Intensive: The dates for the dancers will be July 20th-22nd, with a
special showing for parents the night of the 22nd to show off what the dancers have
learned. The fee for intermediate and advanced dancers will be $150 and for beginners
