Mrs. Penny Jackson

Principal, Grovetown High School
2010 Warrior Way
Grovetown, GA 30813

Dear Mrs. Jackson:

I am inquiring about a position as a Media Specialist for the upcoming school year at Grovetown High
School. I am currently enrolled in an Instructional Technology Degree program through Georgia
Southern. This program will also certify me to work as a Media Specialist in Georgia. I believe that my
experiences in the classroom and my stringent degree requirements qualify me for this position.

For fifteen years, I have worked as a science teacher at Butler High School, Greenbrier High School, and
currently, Grovetown High School. I have taught all grade levels during this time, as well as all different
academic levels. For the majority of my career, I have mainly taught Biology to ninth and tenth grade
students. I have learned to reach students where they are academically and prepare them for the
challenges of our county’s and state’s curriculum. My methods of reaching students have allowed the
majority of them to pass the state’s End of Course Test for Biology. Last year, I had a success rate of
97% pass the test. I can bring the same initiative and desire to excel from the classroom with me into the
media center.

The media center is the hub of learning in the school setting. All students, regardless of their academic
ability or academic learning goals can visit and receive the same beneficial services it has to offer. That
being said, a media center is only as good as its Media Specialists. In the media center, I will have the
ability to extend my reach from the 130 students I teach yearly to all students in the school. Instead of
being an asset for a selective few Biology students, I will be a school-wide resource for all students. It is
my desire to see all students enjoy the benefits of a dynamic and useful media center. I know that I can
provide that experience to students.

Mrs. Jackson, know that you will make the right decision by choosing to hire me as your next Media
Specialist. The same successes I have had in the classroom will be carried over into the Media Center. I
look forward to discussing this opportunity with you.

Sincerely,

Margaret E. Davis

Dear Sir or Madame,

I read of your interest for a Job Readiness Instructor in The Augusta Chronicle. I feel that my
professional teaching experience qualifies me for this position.

For the past three years, I have taught Biology and Ecology at Butler High School to 9th, 10th, 11th, and
12th graders. I consider myself a role model for underprivileged, lower income students who attend
Butler. Not only do I instruct students, at times I serve as a means of guidance for students who may have
very little or no guidance at home. I believe my personal experiences in the classroom make me an
excellent choice for this position.

By working for you, I feel I can take my experience in the classroom and share it with others. I look
forward to the challenge offered by this position , and believe I can satisfy goals rewarding to myself and
the CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority.

I have enclosed a résumé, and I am available for an interview Mondays through Wednesdays and Fridays
after 3:15 PM. I am willing and eager to share my personal experiences in the classroom with you. I look
forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Margaret E. Davis

Mr. Jim Flynn

1750 Lover’s Lane
Augusta, Georgia 30901

Dear Mr. Flynn,

I learned of your position for a Lab Technician through Mrs. Terri Odom. I feel my experience as a
teacher qualifies me for this position.

For the past three years, I have taught Biology and Ecology to ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders in
Richmond County. Teaching others has enabled me to become efficient and innovative at managing my
time, as well as being able to organize multiple tasks simultaneously. Teaching also has allowed me to
build strong relationships with my students, as well as with professionals in the community.

With the variety of classes and grades of students I have taught, I have had to learn quickly a variety of
teaching methods. With each new class, and sometimes with each student, I have adapted new methods
so they can learn the content of the class. Also, I have been a teacher and professional to which both
students and colleagues can turn. Frequently, we as professionals are called upon to assist students with
extra help after school hours, and I have made myself available for just such assistance. In addition, I
volunteered to organize and head the school science fair last year. After successfully completing this task,
I have been asked again to head the science fair this year.

By working for you, I feel I can take my experience in the classroom and put it to work. I am individually
responsible, able to work well with others, a quick and versatile learner, and also dependable. I look
forward to the challenge offered by this position, and believe I can satisfy goals rewarding to myself and
to the company. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Margaret E. Davis
