I. COURSE TITLE:

PRACTICUM I (ADR)

III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:


This course deals with the study of Alternative
Dispute Resolution System in the Philippines pursuant to R.A. No. 9285, its
policies, the different ADR forms as efficient tools to court diversion, and the
institutionalization and implementation of the Court Annexed Mediation (CAM)
and Judicial Dispute Resolution (JDR) as part of mandatory pre-trial to facilitate
court decongestion pursuant to A.M. No. 01-10-5-SC PHILJA dated 16 October
2001 and Adm. Circular No. 20-2002 dated 24 April 2000 and A.M. No. 04-3-15SC PHILJA dated 23 March 2004, and the recent A.M. No. 11-1-6-SC-PHILJA re:
Consolidated and Revised Guidelines to Implement the Expanded Coverage of
Court-Annexed Mediation (CAM) and Judicial Dispute Resolution (JDR) dated 11
January 2011.
IV. OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the semester, the students will be able to:

A. Understand, learn, analyze and appreciate:


1. The Policy of the State to actively promote party autonomy in the
resolution of disputes or the freedom of the party to make their own
arrangements to resolve their disputes.
2. The promotion of the use of ADR as an important means to achieve
speedy and impartial justice and declog court dockets.
3. The institutionalization and use of ADR as an efficient tool and an
alternative procedure for the resolution of appropriate cases.
B. Practice and apply their learned skills of mediation by role playing in a test
case as preparation to actual court annexed mediation.

THEM IS ASSIGNED TO REPORT ON A CERTAIN TOPIC.
2. THE REPORT SHALL BE PREPARED IN THE FORMAT OF A ONEHOUR POWER POINT PRESENTATION.
3. THE PROFESSOR SHALL ALSO ASSIGNED SOME STUDENTS TO
MAKE THEIR ORAL OR WRITTEN EVALUATION AND CRITIQUE ON EVERY
REPORT AFTER ITS PRESENTATION.
