Good Morning Class!
Good Morning Sir!
Let us all stand for the prayer.
Student: Are you ready to pray classmates?
All: Yes, we are!

Secretary, do we have any absentees today?
Please take note of the absentees names if there
are any.
Checking of
attendance
Secretary: Yes, Sir!
Yes, Sir!
Did I give you an assignment last meeting?
Sir, our assignment is all about Trapezoid.
Checking of
assignments
What is our assignment all about?
Let us now then move to the next topic, but
before that,
can someone tell me what was our last topic last
meeting?
Recall of past
lesson
3 mins
Sir, our discussion last meeting was about
properties of rectangle and rhombus.
(Any student can raise their hand to give a
summary)
Can somebody give me a summary of the last
topic?
That is great! We will now move to the next topic,
which is Trapezoid.
Yes, Sir
Yes, Sir
Have you ever played a patintero?
Motivation
Is it enjoying to play?
Patintero, also
called Tinubigan, Patubig or Lantay-lantay, is a
popular street game among Pinoys. It is
considered to be best played and enjoyed at
night especially when the moon is full.
Now, we all know that patintero is a game by
marking the ground with a rectangular shape
about five to six meters, all divided into equal
parts. If we are going to see the aerial view, it is
rectangular shape.
Sir, I think it would be a Trapezoid.
What if I am going to see the view in front of the
shape, what would be the figure?

Very Good!

Today, we will discuss all about Trapezoid. To help
us learn our topic, we will have these learning
objectives for this morning:

Activity
At the end of the 1-hour discussion, the learners
are expected to:
A. define the trapezoid
B. solve for the median of a given trapezoid
C. identify the parts of a trapezoid
Trapezoid is a quadrilateral with exactly one pair
of parallel sides.
Before we start with our lesson, let us first define
the Trapezoid.
(Students will do the group activity)
What is Trapezoid?
Very Good!
The class will be divided into 6 groups. I have
here jumbled letters and your task is to arrange
the letters to get the word which is related to our
discussion, Trapezoid.

Very Good!
The parts of a trapezoid are bases and legs.
Now, you already know the definition of a
trapezoid, lets proceed to its part.
Analysis
Legs
Base
s
What are the parts of a trapezoid?
Who can label the parts of trapezoid?
Sir, it is base angles
We can find the base at the ends of the larger
base of a trapezoid.
What do you call the two angles that include the
base?
Where did you find the base angles?
Very Good!
So in the figure, the base angles are in the upper
base.
Sir, altitude
Base
angles
Very Good!
What do you call the special segment of a
trapezoid which is frequently used?
(Students will listen)
An Altitude of a trapezoid is any segment from
a point on one base perpendicular to the line
containing the other base.
Yes, Sir.
15 min
Just remember, a trapezoid can have many
altitudes.
In the figure, AE, JF, IG and HC are all altitudes of
trapezoid ABCD.
Abstraction
Understand class?
Now, you have the knowledge on the parts of a
trapezoid. Lets now proceed to the median of a
trapezoid.
Sir, Midpoint
Midpoint is a point that divides the segment into
two congruent segments
Sir, median
In the figure, what do you call the point in the
Median or midline is a segment which joins the
midpoints of the non-parallel sides or the legs.
middle of the legs?
What is midpoint?
If we connect these two points, what do you call
now this segment?
Segment FG.
What do you mean by Median?
Yes, Sir
What is the median in this figure?
Good!
Because the theorem states that the median of a
trapezoid is parallel to the bases and its length is
equal to the half the sum of the lengths of the
bases.
Do you think that the median appear to be
parallel to the base?
Why?
To get the median, just use the formula,
M=1/2(base+base)
Very Good!
This theorem can be expressed in segment FG
segment ED segment BC
How will you get the median?
15 min
Very Good!
It is because of the theorem that already stated.
Who can repeat the theorem?
The theorem states that the median is parallel to
the bases and its length is equal to the half the
sum of the lengths of the bases.
Yes, Sir.
Yes, Sir
Understand Class?
Do you want examples?
For example 1.
Application
MATE is a trapezoid with
Median SQ.
Given: MA = 12
TE = 18
Find: SQ
Solution:
SQ = (MA + TE)
= (12 +18)
= (30)
SQ = 15
Example 2 .
BEST is a trapezoid with
median PA.
Given: BE = 3x + 3
ST = 4x + 4
PA = 6x 4
Find: PA
Who can answer?
(Student will listen)
Solution:
PA = 6x 4
PA = (BE + ST)
= 6(3) 4
6x - 4 = [(3x+3)+(4x+4)]
= 18 4
6x 4 = [7x + 7]
PA = 14
6x 4 = 7x+7/2
12x 8 = 7x + 7
12x 7x = 8 + 7
5x = 15
x=3
Is there any question?
Clarification?
IV.
EVALUATION
Using trapezoid CAKE with median OT, find the indicated base/ median length.
None, Sir
1. AC = 16 and EK = 20, OT = ?
2. OT = 18 and EK = 28, AC = ?
3. AC = 2x + 1, EK = 3x 2 and OT = 5x + 1. OT = ?
V.
ASSIGNMENT
1. What are the properties of Isosceles Trapezoid?(notebook)
2. Solve. (1/4 sheet of paper)
Trapezoid LAND with a median ER.
A. LA = 2 + 7x, ND = 2 + 4x, ER = 6x. Find LA and ND.
