Prio A:
The Priority A channel will be selected when turning power ON, transmitting/receiving a Clear
Down signal, and transmitting a status call.
MSK signaling must be selected for the Priority A
channel to be used in MSK operation.
Never include an MSK channel into the scan list.

The MSK call signal may not be received due to the
call signal being too short to be received during
scanning.
Emergency:
The Emergency channel will be selected when
making an emergency call.
The MSK signaling must be selected for the
Emergency channel to use in the MSK operation.
The emergency call can be made even when no
emergency channel is specified. However, an
emergency channel should be programmed to
make a reliable emergency call.
TX Inh
Never select TX Inhibit.
When TX Inhibit is set in an MSK channel, the
acknowledgement call (answer back) is also inhibited (MSK operation cannot be performed).
TOT
Deactivate (select OFF) the time-out timer is recommended.
The time-out timer can be used in an MSK channel,
however, the Clear Down transmission wont be
performed while the TOT penalty timer is activated.
PWR Save (for IC-F30G series only)
Never activate (select ON) the power save function.
The power save function reduces current drain by
deactivating the receiver circuit for preset intervals.
The MSK call signal may not be received due to the
call signal being too short to be received during
power save.
Lock-out
Select the appropriate lock-out function.
This function restricts any transmission while the
channel is busy.
Signal
Select the desired signaling system from MSK and
5Tone.
Both MSK and 5Tone cannot be set on the same
operating channel. Select MSK or 5Tone signaling
in independent channels when both signaling systems are required.
For the IC-F1600 series, the optional UT-96 and
OPC-Y (supplied from Icom France) are required to
set a 5-tone channel.
Auto Reset
Select the desired timer combination to return the
transceiver to Inaudible mode when the transceiver is unable to transmit the Clear Down signal.
Timer A, Timer B, and Inactive timer are available,
and the time period for each timer is programmed in
the Common screen.
Log In/Off
Select the desired digital ANI (Own ID) transmitting
condition at log-in/off.
To transmit the digital ANI during audible condition;
- Select Log In at Audible to transmit the digital
ANI when log-in is set (PTT is pushed).
- Select Log Off at Audible to transmit the digital
ANI when log-off is set (PTT is released).
- Select Log In/Off at Audible to transmit the digital ANI when both log-in and log-off are set
(PTT is pushed and released).
Send Status
Select the desired ID for status call operation.
Select Base to transmit the status call to the specified station (fixed ID; programmed in Fixed Base ID
in Status Setting) only.
Select Mobile to transmit the status call to the currently selected station (ID).

5Tone Signaling
Select the mute condition (Audible or Inaudible)

after the following switch operation is performed.
Set the repeater code when the 5-tone is selected

in the RPT ID item.
Monitor:
In_A+R1 or In_A+R2 selection is recommended for MSK channels to enable the Clear Down
transmission (the monitor switch can only transmit the Clear Down). When a setting other than
In_A+R1 and In_A+R2 is set, the Clear Down
transmission cannot be made.
Form:
Select the desired 5-tone format.
Select USER when the desired 5-tone format is
not available,
When inhibiting the Clear Down transmission,

select the desired condition that suits the system
requirements.
Sel:
Selects the mute condition after selecting the
operating channel.
In the MSK channel, only In_A is selectable.
When the operating channel is changed during
communication, the transceiver switches to
Inaudible mode. The Clear Down signal is not
transmitted in this case.
Call:
In the MSK channel, only OFF is selectable because the mute is released when receiving an
acknowledgement call (answer back).
PTT:
In the MSK channel, only OFF is selectable.
MSK Signaling
RPT ID:
Select the repeater type to use in the MSK channel. When using the CTCSS repeater, select OFF.
Select or enter the desired ID channel number
programmed in the MSK Call List screen, directly.
Select the 5-tone repeater. 5-tone code is programmed in the following 5Tone Signaling item.
STN ID:
Select the desired station ID channel from the list.
The same ID list as used in the repeater ID above
is used.
Receive ID:
Select the desired group ID numbers to communicate during group call operation.
A user tone can be specified in the User Tone

screen. Set the timing in the Format screen.
When DTMF is selected, the repeater code is
transmitted as a DTMF tone.
RPT, L:
Select the desired 5-tone code for the repeater
from the TX Code list.
Click the L box and select L to turn the long tone
ON, if desired.

Key Assign
[Digital]:
Selects the call list, Status and SDM. Also, indicates the received call, Status and SDM record.
Refer to 2 DIGITAL KEY ACTION FLOW for
details.
[TX Code Enter]:
Push to enable direct ID entering; or to modify the
selected ID contents modification.
[Status UP/Down]: (IC-F500 series only)
Selects a TX status channel directly.
[Call], [Call A], [Call B]:
Transmits the MSK call on the selected channel.
Both [Call A] and [Call B] are used for 5-tone
operation normally.
[Emergency Single/Repeat]:
Transmits an emergency call (Status 22) on an
MSK channel.
- [Emergency Single]:
An emergency call is cancelled and the transceiver returns to the standby mode when
receiving an acknowledgement.
- [Emergency Repeat]:
Transmits an emergency call for the specified
period repeatedly even an acknowledgement
is received. When receiving an emergency
reset signal, the transceiver returns to the
standby mode.
[Emergency Single/Repeat (Silent)]:
Transmits an emergency call silently (no beep
emission and display changes) once or repeatedly.
[TX Code CH Select]:

Push to enable the direct ID code channel selection, for both 5-tone and MSK, via [CH UP]/[CH
DN].
*Selectable channel can be specified in the TX Code
CH screen.
Push and hold this key to enter the code edit condition.
[TX Code CH UP/DN]:
Selects a TX code channel directly.
CH screen.
10Key Select
Sets the keypad operation.
*Optional HM-100TN is required for the IC-F500 series.
OFF : Turns the keypad operation OFF.

Status:
- Push the keypad to select the desired
Status in an MSK channel. Push and hold
the key to transmit the Status.
[0] is for Status 10, [1] to [9] are for
Status 1 to Status 9 respectively.
ON (only for the IC-F500 series):
- Turns the keypad operation ON.
For the IC-F500 series with the optional HM-100TN
DTMF MICROPHONE, the [A], [B], [C] or [D] key act as
the [P0], [P1], [P2] or [P3] key on the front panel
respectively, when either Status or ON is selected.
Hanger Action Hook off Monitor
This key is only available for the IC-F500 series.
Select ON or Enable to transmit the Clear Down

signal when the microphone is off hook, instead of
the monitor key operation.
[ID-MR Select]:
Push to display the received 5-tone or MSK calls.
This function is available for IC-F1600/F500 series

only.
When the received ID is displayed, push [Call] to

call back.
[TX Code CH Enter]: (IC-F1600 series only)
Push to enable the direct ID code channel selection, for both 5-tone and MSK, via the keypad on
the front panel.
Push this key, then enter the desired channel
number directly.
CH screen.
Selection Power SW
Select the power switch action from inhibit or
enable.
This function is available for the IC-F1600/F500
series only.
Inhibit
: The transceiver power cannot be turned

OFF with the power switch.
Enable : The transceiver power can be turned
OFF with the power switch.

Ignition SW & Delay Timer (IC-F500 series only)

Select Enable to control the transceivers power
with the ignition switch in Ignition SW. Then enter
the desired delay time period to turn the transceiver OFF after the ignition switch is turned OFF, in
Delay Timer.
The transceiver is turned OFF automatically after
this set delay period. Up to 120 min. can be set.
A call or message from another station can be
received when the operator is away from the vehicle even if the engine is turned OFF.
The automatic GPS position data transmission
capability can be combined with the ignition switch
delay, as well as the power switch inhibit setting as
above, for convenience.
Display Scroll Timer (IC-F500/F30G series only)
Set the time interval for the SDM (Short Data
Message) automatic scroll function.
Up to 25.5 sec. can be set.
The function is set as OFF when 0 sec. is entered.
To read an SDM, including a long message, use
this function for the IC-F30GS/F40GS series transceivers (4-key type), because no manual scroll key
is available.
Use this function to see all SDM contents on the ICF500 series transceivers too. Even with the HM100TN, the scroll function cannot be performed.
The function will also be activated during the
received message record indication.
Move to Prio A CH
Select the automatic Priority A channel selection
capability from Power SW ON, Clear Down and
Hook off.
*Hook off selection is available for the IC-F1600/F500
series only.
Power SW ON: The Priority A channel is automatically selected when turning the
power ON.
Clear Down : The Priority A channel is automatically selected after the Clear Down
transmission or reception.
Hook off
: The Priority A channel is automatically selected when taking the
microphone from its hanger (hookoff).
*When taking the microphone from its
hanger after the connection is successful, the transceiver selects
Inaudible mode and the communication cannot be performed.

ID Range Group
Killer ID
Set the desired Group ID within 0001 to 4095 for

group calls. (Start: 4000, End: 4095 are default)
Set the desired killer ID which disables the transceivers operation.

When receiving a call with the killer ID, the stun
function will be activated. In this case, password
input is necessary, and the transceiver cannot be
operated until entering the correct password.
When the Group ID range is set, the individual ID

range is set automatically.
In the same system, the same ID range must be
set.
Own ID/Group
Common ID
Set the Common ID within 0001 to 4095 range.
The same ID must be set for all transceivers that
are going to communicate in the group.
The base station can communicate to all stations
when changing the Common ID setting when used
with the PC control command.
Country Code
Select the appropriate country code, specified by
ETS 300 230, from the list. The same country code
must be set to all transceivers in that country.
Select Others when no appropriate country code is
listed.
Each ID and code are transmitted in the sequence
as follows when making a call.

Individual ID must be within the range of the

Individual ID range, specified by the Group ID range
setting.
Code 0001 to 3999 are assignable as the individual
ID by default 3999 codes are available. (Code
0000 is the fixed code for Clear Down transmission.)
Code 4000 to 4095 are assignable as the group ID
by default 96 codes are available.
ID:
Enter the Own ID for the transceiver into No. 0
within the Individual ID range.
Enter the Group ID into No.1 to No.7 within the
Group ID range.
The transceiver is always standing-by with the
own ID during MSK operation. The group ID for
stand-by can be selected for each independent
operating channel.
Display Text:
Enter the desired text message to display on the
function display when the corresponding ID code
is received.
Alert:
Select the desired alert beep type.
Emits the alert beep when receiving a signal with
a matched ID (own or group).
When selecting a repeat type alert, set the
desired time period for repeat in the Beep/Alert
Timer in MSK Config.
The Beep/Alert Timer setting is also used for the
alert beep emission for status call reception.
Bell Icon:
Select the desired bell indicator condition when
receiving a signal with a matched ID (own or
group).
And there are 32 country codes and 4095 common

IDs.

32 4,095 96=12,579,840
So the BIIS system provides 524,028,960 ways for
individual, and 12,579,840 ways for group selective
calling in the entire system.

Call List
Status
ID:
Enter the other transceivers own (individual) ID
and group ID. The IDs can be selected when
pushing [DIGITAL] or [TX Code CH Select].
Display Text:
Enter the desired text to display on the function
display instead of the status number.
The programmed text appears not only when the
TX status is selected via [DIGITAL], [Status
UP/DN] or 10 keypad, but also when receiving the
status.
Input Digit:
Set the editable digit for direct ID input by pushing
[TX Code Enter].
When no ID code entering is necessary, remove
the all mark from the check-box.
Text:
Enter the desired text to display the text message
instead of the ID number indication.
Update:
Select the ID code overwrite capability.
The directly entered ID can be overwritten via [TX
Code Enter] when Enable is selected. Select
Disable when it is necessary to leave the content as it is.
Sel:
Select Disable to prevent the desired ID from
appearing on the function display when selecting
the status via [DIGITAL], [Status UP/DN] or 10
key-pad.
No text message is displayed when receiving the

Status 24, and the text edit is restricted in the
cloning software because the Status 24 is a fixed
function for the position request.
Beep:
Select the desired alert beep type for a Status call
reception.
When selecting a repeat type alert, set the
desired time period for repeat in the Beep/Alert
Timer in MSK Config.
Horn:
Select the horn sounding capability, when receiving the Status call, ON and OFF.
This function can be used for the IC-F1600 and
IC-F500 series transceivers with the optional
OPC-617 (Pin 6: EXO is used for control).
Use an external drive transistor for the horn
sounding function because the transceiver outputs the control signal as the open collector that
has just 12 V/500 mA driving capability.
Auto TX:
Select the auto transmit function, when receiving
the Status call, from ON and OFF.
This function is available for the IC-F500* and ICF30G series transceiver, and automatically transmits the microphone audio for the set period.
*Use the HM-100N only. This function cannot be used
when the HM-100TN DTMF MICROPHONE is connected.
The transmission time period is set in the

5Tone/MSK Auto TX Timer item.
Inaudible mode may be selected by the station that requests the Auto TX, because it is
transmitting a status call audio cannot be
heard. So, use the PC control command to turn
the MSK mute OFF (base station), or use an
extra transceiver for monitoring.

Priority:
Select the desired transmission priority for the
status call when the operating channel is busy.
Normal : Status call will be cancelled.
High
: Status call is made even if the channel is busy. However, the calling success is not guaranteed.
Select High for the Status 22 (emergency call),
because the status call is repeated until receiving
an acknowledgement call.
Even if Normal is selected, the status call can be
made when using with the Busy Check Timer.
When the timer is set, the transceiver watches for
a signal, and transmit the status after the signal
disappears. When the signal still available for the
set time period, the status call is cancelled.
The timer is set in the Busy Check Timer in the
MSK Timing & Error screen.
Sel:
Select Disable for the desired status message to
do not appear on the function display when
selecting the status via [DIGITAL], [Status
UP/DN] or 10 keypad.
SDM (Short Data Message)
Enter the desired short data message (Direct input).
IC-F1600 series : Up to 16 characters
IC-F30G series : Up to 12 characters
IC-F500 series : Up to 10 characters
The message can also be edited via the 10 keypad.
(Optional HM-100TN DTMF MICROPHONE is required for the
IC-F500 series.)
Max. 95 character messages can be transmitted at

one time via the PC control command.
The received message records are displayed by
pushing and holding [DIGITAL], and the received
message records are memorized up to a max. 95
characters.
Timing & Error

NA:
Set the desired number of repeating acknowledgement calls in a calling sequence from 1 to 8.
(default: 1)
NM:
Set the desired number of repeating messages in
a calling sequence from 1 to 8. (default: 1)
NOTE: NA and NM
When setting 2 or a larger number, the calling
succeed rate becomes higher even in bad signal conditions. Also, a TAC timer setting longer
than the default must be set to receive all the
acknowledgement calls or messages according to this setting.
All of the transceivers must be set with the
same value for all NA, NM and TAC Timer for
all of the transceivers to be able to communicate.
The total calling time becomes longer in this
case.
NR:
Set the desired number of repeating transmission
calls when no acknowledgement call is received,
from 1 to 8. (default: 3)
This setting is different from the NA and NM settings.
The desired number can be set for each transceiver independently.
TAC (TAD):
Set the waiting time period for receiving an
acknowledgement during a call within 0.01 to
2.55 sec.
When no acknowledgement is received in this set
period, the transceiver repeats the call transmission the number of times set in NR.
The default setting is 0.5 sec., however, set the
longer time period when communicating through
a repeater using CTCSS, according to the operating style.
Set 0.8 sec. (approx.) for CTCSS operation.

Call LET Timer:

Set the time period for transmission delay for the
transmit signal and MSK modulation when transmitting a call.
Ack LET Timer:
Set the time period for transmission delay for the
transmit signal and MSK modulation when transmitting an acknowledgement call.

Encode Setting
PTT Call:
Select the call operation capability with the microphone PTT.
When Enable is selected, the PTT functions as
[CALL] on an MSK channel during Inaudible
mode.
Pre-Emphasis:
Select the MSK signal modulation type from PM
and FM.
SYNC Word:
Set the synchronous signal word in the system
with a 4 digit hexadecimal word.
The same word must be set for all transceivers to
be communicated to.
B433 is mainly used in France.
Do not set C4D7. This word is used in the MPT
trunking system.
ANI
NOTE: Call LET Timer and Ack LET Timer

The default setting is 50 msec., however, set
longer time period when communicating
through a repeater using CTCSS, according to
the operating style.
The communication may not be successful
when the setting is shorter than the default
time period, because the time periods may be
different between each transceiver.
Set 350 msec. (approx.) for CTCSS operation.
Busy Check Timer:
Set the stand by time period for the status call
transmission (when? the status priority is set to
Normal) when the operating channel is busy.
When the signal disappears within the set period,
a status call will be made. However, the status
call will be cancelled when the channel is busy for
the set period.
- Max. 255 sec. can be set.
- Enter 0 sec. to cancel the call immediately when
the channel is busy.
PTT Side Tone:

Select the beep emission capability to announce
the communication timing during digital ANI operation with log-in setting.
A short beep sounds after the digital ANI signal is
transmitted when set to ON.
Decode Setting
Beep/Alert Timer:
Set the Beep/Alert repeat timer within 0 to 60 sec.
range.
This timer is used for the alert beep emission and
functions when receiving the MSK or status call
with one of the Repeat items is set.
The Repeat item is selected at Alert item in Own
ID/Group Decode Action (MSK call) and at
Beep item in Status.
Mute MSK Tone:
Select the MSK signal mute function ON and
OFF.
This function mutes the MSK audio coming from
the other stations, while the transceiver is in the
Audible mode (after the connection is successful, while monitoring, etc.).
The MSK signal mute function mutes only when
the signal including the same SYNC Word. The
MSK signal can be heard when the signal an
unmatched SYNC Word.

Status Setting
Fixed Base ID:
Enter the desired station ID.
A status message is transmitted to this station all
the time on the channel with Base as the setting
for the Send Status item.
Send Status on PrioA CH:
When Enable is set, the status message is
always transmitted on the Priority A channel.
Specifying the Priority A to the desired MSK channel is necessary.
When Base is selected for the Send Status item,
the Status call is always transmitted to the specified ID station (Fixed Base ID).
Power ON Status23:
Set Enable to transmit the Status 23 when turning the power ON.
Power OFF Status19:
Set Enable to transmit the Status 19 when turning the power OFF.
GPS Setting
Fixed Base ID:
Enter the desired station ID.
The position data is transmitted to this station all
the time when the Send GPS fix to Base, as
below, is set to Enable also.
This ID is independent from the ID programmed
in the Fixed Base ID in Send Status.
Send GPS fix to Base:
Turn the sending position data to fixed station
capability ON and OFF.
Select Enable to send the position data to the
specified station (Fixed Base ID as above).
Auto:
Turn the automatic position data transmission
capability ON and OFF.
The position data is automatically transmitted at
the specified time and interval when Enable is
selected.
The time and interval are specified in Timer
Marker and Interval Timer as follows.
The transceiver reads the UTC time data from the
GPS receiver after 10 minutes from turning the
transceiver power ON, then specifies the time
marker. Therefore, the GPS receiver must receive
the time data signals properly before the UTC
time is read into the transceiver.
Check the GPS data is received properly by
sending the Status 24 (GPS Request) to ensure
the GPS Auto TX activate.
Time Marker [mm:ss]:
Set the desired Marker time for the automatic
position transmission capability.
The Marker time is specified by the set value and
based on each second a UTC hour.
Set a different Marker time for each transceiver to
avoid interference caused by the simultaneous
transmission of position data.
Interval Timer [mm:ss]:
Set the desired Interval time.
NOTE: Time Marker and Interval Timer
For example: When 40 minutes is set as the
Time Marker, and 90 minutes is set as the
Interval Timer, and the transceiver powered
ON at 8:50 UTC time;
The first position data is transmitted at 9:40
UTC time.
The second position data is transmitted at
11:10 UTC time, then both types of position
data are transmitted in 90 minute intervals.
Send with Logoff:
Turn the automatic position data transmission
capability at log-off ON and OFF (each time when
PTT is released).
This function activates only when log-off is
selected in the Log-In/Off item.
The position data is transmitted to the station that
is specified as the Fixed Base ID in GPS.
Transmit the data to the communicating
station/party when no ID is specified in the Fixed
Base ID in GPS.

Send with Status:

The position data is transmitted after making a
Status call when Enable is selected.
The position data is transmitted to the same station that the Status call was made to.
Send with SDM:
The position data is transmitted after an SDM
transmission when Enable is selected.
The position data is transmitted to the selected
station for the SDM transmission in this case.
Send with Emergency:
The position data is transmitted after an emergency call via [Emergency] key or DIM input,
when Enable is selected.
The position data is transmitted to the station that
is specified in the emergency status setting in this
case.
Send at ManDown: (IC-F30G series only)
The position data is transmitted after an emergency call, made by the man down function, when
Enable is selected.
The optional UT-113
MAN DOWN
Set Mode
Horn (for IC-F500 series only)
The Horn ON/OFF item is available in the User Set
mode.
This item can switch OFF the Horn output temporarily when the Horn output is set to ON with the
status reception.
Common
Security
DIM Input:
Select the optional OPC-617 DIM input terminal
usage from Emergency and Dimmer Input.
Emergency Single and Emergency Repeat are
available for the emergency function, and act as
[Emergency Single (Silent)] and [Emergency
Repeat (Silent)], respectively.
Auto TX Timer
unit is required.
Sentence:
Select the desired position data sentence format
to be transmitted from $GPRMC, $GPGGA and
$GPGL.
Enter the desired time period for the automatic

transmission when Auto TX is set to ON in the
Status screen.
When receiving a matched 5-tone/Status call, the
microphone audio automatically transmitted for the
set period.
This function is available for the IC-F30G and ICF500 series only.
RS-232C
The following settings are necessary when
installing the optional OPC-822 (for the IC-F1600
and IC-F500 series) or OPC-966 (for the IC-F30G
series).
Connection Speed:
Select the data transfer speed from 1200, 2400,
4800, 9600 and 19200 bps.
Mode:
Select the appropriate output data format for connected equipment from OFF, Printer, GPS or PC
CMD.

PC CMD
: Print out the received SDM.

: Connect the GPS receiver.
: PC control command can be used.
Use a crossover cable when connecting a GPS or

printer. Use a patch cable when connecting a PC.

EXO/Horn
EXO/Horn Timer:
Enter the desired time period for the Horn output
function when the EXO or Horn function is turned
ON and the matched 5-tone or Status call is
received.
Siren:
Select the siren condition.
Silent : No count-down beeps sound and no
indications for LCD and transmit indicator change during man down function.
Audible: The count-down beeps sound and the

Emer SW ON:

must be pushed and held to cancel an emergency
call.
Start/Repeat Timer:
Enter the time period of the delay and interval for
the emergency call.
Man Down (IC-F30G series only)
Man Down:
Turn the man down function ON and OFF.
Select ON when the optional UT-113 is installed.
This function sends an emergency call automatically when the transceiver is left in the horizontal
position for a pre-set time.
ON Timer:
Enter the time period for the Man Down timer
within 0 to 25.5 sec.
An emergency call is transmitted when the transceiver is left in the horizontal position for the set

SETTINGS FOR REPEATER OPERATION

Using CTCSS
D Cloning data setting
q Select the specified CTCSS tone frequency for the
desired repeater in TX of C. Tone in the
Memory Channel screen.
w Set TAC (TAD), as well as Call LET Timer and

Ack LET Timer in the MSK Timing and Error
screen.

the total calling time is extended. However, when

by turning OFF the CTCSS Reverse Burst Timer.
Even in this case, Call LET Timer and Ack LET

SETTING FOR REPEATER OPERATION
Using MSK/5-Tone repeater

q Select MSK when operating with an MSK
repeater, or 5T: 5 Tone when operating with a 5Tone repeater in Signal in the Memory Channel
(Bank) screen.
D Explanation of 5-tone Repeater Use :

Firstly, set the Call LET timer with a slightly larger
than usual time parameter, and transmit a call. By
doing this, you can confirm whether or not the called
station transmits an ACK.
Example of time parameter : 0.5 sec.
The Call LET timer value decreases in 0.05 sec.
increments until the called stations transmit ACK disappears. A value of 0.05 sec. above that when the
ACK disappears should be set.
Then set the same value gained (In this case
0.05 sec.) in the Ack LET timer item too.
When operating with an MSK repeater

w Select (num): MSK Code in the RPT ID item
in Memory Channel (Bank) screen, then enter the
desired MSK code channel number, programmed
in MSK Call list screen.
The setting of the LET timer is completed at this

point. It may be possible to receive an ACK from the
called station via the repeater, but in general confirmation of the TAC timer should be made.
In the case that you cannot receive an ACK from the
called station via the repeater even though the LET
timer setting is complete, try the following procedure.
*If an ACK is not being received via the repeater, set the
TAC timer to open with a larger 1.0 sec. margin.
The TAC timer value decreases in 0.1 sec. increments until the value is 0.5 sec. above that at the
time the reception of the called stations ACK via the
repeater disappears, should be set.
When operating with a 5-Tone repeater

w Enter the desired 5-tone code channel number in
the RPT item in Memory Channel (Bank) screen,
programmed in 5Tone Tx Code CH screen.
e Set the suitable time period for each TAC (TAD),

Call LET Timer and Ack LET Timer if necessary.

CLEAR DOWN TRANSMISSION
Inhibiting the Clear Down transmission

q Select a no reset code transmitting action, that
does not contain R1 and R2 for Moni, in Switch
Action in Memory Channel (Bank) screen.
The Clear Down signal is transmitted as the reset
code, therefore the transceiver returns to inaudible
condition without transmitting the Clear Down signal
when no reset code is transmitted with [Monitor].
Select OFF in Moni in the Switch Action item to

inhibit Clear Down transmission and inaudible
condition. By doing this the Clear Down command is given by the base station only.
When OFF is selected for Moni in Switch

Action, set the desired time period for each
Timer A, Timer B and Inactive Timer in Auto
Reset item.
Also select Timer A + Inactive or Timer B +
Inactive for Auto Reset in Switch Action in
Memory Channel (Bank) to set the respective
timer values.
These settings allow return to the inaudible condition after the specified time period has passed,
even when no Clear Down signal is received.

Select the Status for the Select item in 10 Key

Optional HM-100TN DTMF MICROPHONE is required for
the IC-F500/F600 series transceivers.
Push a digit key, [1] to [9], to select status 1 to

9, or push [0] to select status 10, respectively.
Pushing the respective digit key for 1 sec.,
transmits the appropriate status message automatically.

from selection
The desired status message channels can be
removed from the selection, such as when using a
limited number of messages, inhibiting the desired
message transmission for the desired stations.
Select OFF (blank) for Sel in the TX Status
item in MSK Message to prevent that message
from being transmitted..
OFF (blank) selected messages are removed
from the status selection. Messages selected as
OFF are removed from the status selection list.
However, un-selected messages will be transmitted if the Auto Tx function is enabled ON, regardless of this setting.
D Extra functions
The automatic transmission and horn honk capabilities are available when a status message is
received.
Select ON in Auto Tx for automatic status transmission of that status message, in TX Status in
the MSK Message screen.

Key & Display Assign.
IC-F1600 series: 4 memories 16-character each

Enter 0 sec. when turning OFF the automatic scroll

function for the IC-F30G series keypad type transceivers, if required.
The message can be scrolled manually by pushing [#]
or [] for the IC-F1600 series and IC-F30G series keypad type transceivers.
D Printing out the message

The received short data message can be printed out
to the connected printer.
An optional accessory cable, OPC-822 or OPC-966
is required for IC-F1600 and IC-F500 series or for ICF30G series transceiver, respectively.
Refer to the section 8 PRINTER for details.

In addition, the received short data message can
also be displayed on the connected PC display. See
the section 10 PC COMMAND for details.
D Received SDM record

The received short data messages are stored into
the received message record.
Total 4 messages or up to 96 characters messages
for the IC-F1600 series, total 8 messages or 192
characters messages for the IC-F30G and IC-F500
series transceivers are memorized.
When 5th or 9th message is received, the oldest
message is erased, and when turn the transceiver
power OFF, the all record will be erased.

the 10 keypad. (Optional HM-100TN is required for
the IC-F500 series.)
And the umlaut characters can be used in the ICF1600 and IC-F30G series transceivers, however,
they are unable to program from the keypad.

EMERGENCY CALL SETTING
Emergency status transmission

[Emergency Single] or [Emergency Repeat] key
assignment is required.
Select either Emergency Single or Emergency
Repeat for the desired function key in Key
Assign in the Key & Display Assign screen.
The Status 22 is transmitted for the emergency status. The emergency call must be transmitted immediately even if the channel is busy. To do this;
Select High for the Status 22 Priority in TX
Status in the MSK Message Status screen.
D Emergency call operation

Push and hold [Emergency Single]/[Emergency
Repeat] for the specified time period until the
count beep sounds.
The time period is specified in Emer SW ON in Emer
Timer in the Common screen.
Push and hold [Emergency Single]/[Emergency
Repeat] for the specified time period (specified in
Emer SW OFF in Emer Timer in the Common screen)
to cancel the call.
After the count beep emission, the emergency call is
transmitted.
The time period for the count beep emission is specified in Start/Repeat in Emer Timer in the Common
screen.
Once the emergency call is made with [Emergency
Repeat], the transceiver transmits the emergency call
repeatedly until the emergency reset signal is
received, or the transceivers power is turned OFF.
When canceling the emergency call

When no emergency channel is programmed in the
transceiver, the currently selected operating channel
is used for the emergency operation. Also, when 5tone is selected in Signal for the currently selected
channel, an emergency call is made with 5-tone. To
make an emergency call properly, specify the emergency channel and select MSK operation in Signal
for the emergency channel.
In addition, set the Send Status from Mobile and
Base to send the emergency call to the previously
called station and the fixed station, respectively.

(Silent) to a programmable key.
For an emergency call in silent mode, no emergency
key touch and count beeps sound, and no function
display change occurs.

D Man down emergency call

For the IC-F30G series transceiver, an emergency
call is made when the transceiver is in a horizontal
position for the specified time period (the optional
UT-113 MAN DOWN UNIT is required).
The man down emergency call is different from the
emergency call with the [Emergency] key operation.
Automatic voice (microphone audio) transmission
and reception are performed repeatedly.
To cancel the emergency call the transceiver
receives the emergency reset signal; or turning the
transceiver power OFF is necessary.
The emergency reset signal can be transmitted from
the station that can transmit PC control commands.
The transceiver performs the emergency operation
as in the following sequence at right.
The Auto TX Timer, Auto RX Timer and Idle Timer are
specified in Man Down in the Common screen.
The Start/Repeat timer is specified in Emergency in
the Common screen.

log-off (PTT is released) is enabled with the digital
ANI.

Select Log-OFF setting in the memory channel setting when using the digital ANI at log-off.

D Send with Status:

The position data is automatically transmitted after a
status call.

The position data is automatically transmitted at the
specified time and interval, based on the UTC time
when Enable is selected.

OPTIONAL UNIT INSTALLATION
Installing 2 optional units into the IC-F1600 series

D Operating both MSK and 5-tone
Normally only one optional unit can be installed into
the IC-F1600 series transceiver, however, the UT103 FFSK BOARD for MSK operation is already
installed into the BIIS versions.
The OPC-Y board provides the capability to install 2
optional units you can install the UT-96 additionally into the IC-F1600 series transceivers to operate
MSK and 5-tone functions.
Simultaneous MSK and 5-tone encoding is possible,
but simultaneous decode is not possible.
Ask Icom France for the OPC-Y board details.
D Voice scrambler operation on an MSK channel

The voice scrambler function can be used on an
MSK channel when the OPC-Y board is installed into
the IC-F1600 series (The optional UT-109 (#02)/UT110 (#02) is required).
The OPC-Y board must be modified when installing
the UT-109 or UT-110 as follows.
