It recommends configuring 4 shooting menu banks (A-Landscape, B-Wildlife, C-Stars, D-Video) and 1 custom settings menu, with specific settings listed for items like image quality, white balance, ISO sensitivity, and autofocus that are changed from default. Nikon D810 Custom User Settings

INSTRUCTIONS: The Menu Banks can be quite extensive, but this PDF
explains how to use them in a simple and ecient way that will help
when you need to change several settings at once.

Depress Menu on the back of the camera and scroll down to SHOOTING MENU > choose A and
add the name Landscape by using the screen that appears after depressing the right side of the
multi selector.

I have simplified the way I use this camera by using 4 Shooting menu
banks and 1 custom setting menu for everything. Follow these steps to
configure your D810 in the same way. If you want to alter these settings, simply do so and save your own personal Menu Bank.

From the top of the SHOOTING MENU, scroll down each item and update according to my
changes listed below.

Depress Menu on the back of the camera and scroll down to CUSTOM SETTING MENU >

NOTE: When done shooting within a certain shooting menu bank, make sure to return the settings.
For example, if your ISO is set to 100 in the A/Landscape Menu bank, and you alter it while shooting, just make sure you return it back to 100 before you forget, as the last used settings are stored
in each menu bank. When Ext menu banks is on the camera will default to these settings when the
Shooting menu bank is chosen.

choose A. Since this is the only custom settings menu bank give it your name and continue.

From the top of the CUSTOM SETTING MENU > scroll down to the aAutofocus, and update
according to my changes listed below. Follow along until all the way through all the custom
settings.

I increase sharpening in the pict ctrl to

I only use auto ISO when I'm shooting
