How To Arrange Panel Data For Eviews Into MS

This document describes two methods for arranging panel data from multiple companies and variables into an Excel spreadsheet for analysis in Eviews. The first method arranges the data horizontally, with each variable for a company written sequentially in the same column. The second method arranges the data vertically, with columns for year, company name, and each variable. Both methods allow the panel data to be organized to be read into Eviews for time series and cross-sectional analysis across multiple companies.

How to arrange panel data for Eviews into MS-excel

Let suppose I have 4 variables which are like (ROA, ROE, ROEC AND SALE) etc. And 4 (nestle, ogdcl,
unilever, lotte etc.) different companies. There are two way of arranging your data into excel sheet first
way, we arrange data into horizontal form and in second way we arrange data into vertical form.
Lets start: method one
Arrange your all variables into this order. Means first write your variable name then underscore then your
first company name or your first country or whatever data you used. Once your one variable completed
then same without any gap start second variable and all cross sections and write till your all variables
ends. Below is screenshot of my arrange data into excel format.

Please zoom for clear look. Here I have my first variable ROC and I have 9 different
companies, and I wrote all the data in excel sheet and all data is without any gap.

In first column I years, then variable and cross section name and I have wrote the name
or cross sections in abbreviation form. Like this ROC_UNI and in next Colum ROC_FFC
etc.

Lets start second method of arrange panel data into excel file in vertical form.
In vertical form we arrange data like this.
