Description

Nitoseal 130 is an acetoxy curing silicone rubber joint sealant

that cures by exposure to atmospheric moisture. It is applied
simply from the cartridge and can be finished neatly with
appropriate tooling. When cured it forms a tough elastic
seal which accommodates thermal, shrinkage or moisture
movements.
Design criteria

Joints should be designed so that movement due to

shrinkage and thermal changes do not exceed the 25%
Movement Accommodation Factor, related to joint width.
Where possible the sealant depth should be between 1/3
and 1/2 of the joint width. The sealant depth must never
exceed joint width.

Instructions for use

Joint Preparation
Joint surfaces must be clean, dry and frost free. Remove all
dust and laitance by grit blasting, grinding or rigorous wire
brushing. Where necessary to achieve the correct joint profile,
Expancell* backing cord should be used. In joints not using
Expancell, Nitoseal Debonding Tape should be placed in the
base of the joint.
Priming
Nitoseal 130 exhibits excellent adhesion without primer to
glass, tiles, ceramics, aluminium and anodised aluminium.
Application
Nitoseal 130 can be applied by hand or air operated caulking
gun. Ensure that the sealant is pushed firmly in to the joint
to give complete wetting of the surface. Any tooling of the
sealant surface must be carried out immediately using a joint
shaping tool soaked in detergent solution. If required the
edges of the joint can be protected with masking tape - if
this is done ensure that the tape is removed immediately
after tooling.
Cleaning
Uncured sealant can be removed by wiping with rags soaked
in Fosroc Solvent 102. Cured material can only be removed
mechanically.

Limitations

Precautions
