MONTAGE
Description:

A somewhat haunting image of John Lennon with an

inspirational quote.

Date:

October 24, 2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Learn to manage Photoshop layers.

Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.
Use filters.
Apply appropriate typography.

Process:

I knew I wanted to make John Lennon the subject of this

project because he is a personal hereof mine. I started by
sketching up a few ideas until I limited it down to the final
design. I then went to the internet to find an image of John
Lennon and a smokey image. I then put the images into
photoshop and used masking layers to give it that sort of
ghostly smokey effect. I then put in the quote and overlayed the
fonts. After this I flattened the image and did all of the proper
adjustments that had to be made to meet the requirements.

Learn basic photography skills.

Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Size and crop the image.
Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels.
Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image.
Desaturate the selected portion of the image.
Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Process:

I first started out by taking the picture of my brothers dog.

Once I had the picture then I knew I wanted to do something
with it because I love animals. I sketched out a few ideas of how
to put this together until I finally decided on the final design. I
arranged everything in Photoshop as well as edited the picture
to be more vibrant and bring out contrast as well as sharpen
certain areas. After the critique sessions then I went back and
changed a few things to make it look better.

Program(s)/Tools:

Learn how to wrap text around image.

Use pragraph styles in InDesign.

Process:

I started this project out by figuring out the kind of record

company I wanted to make. When I decided to do a record
label then Loyal Hound just kind of came to me. I made the
logo and sketched out some ideas of how the brochure should
be laid out. When I decided on this design I knew it would be
somewhat difficult to pull it off but I was up for the challenge.
I went into illustrator and started by simply using circles and
squares to get the outline to my design. I then put in all of my
images and did a ton of resizing and readjusting. I printed out
this brochure probably 50 times in order to get it perfect. It
took a lot of time but in the end it all worked out.

to make this log for when I finally decided on a pen/pencil
company. When I knew what I was designing for then I
sketched out a couple of ideas. Once the sketches were
complete then I went to illustrator and made the designs in
digital form. I then asked 10 different people which logo they
liked the best and most of them picked the first one so that is
the one I used. I then went back to illustrator and made three
different variations of the logo.

I first started out by thinking of the kind of company I wanted

to create. When I decided on construction then I came up with
a company name and started sketching logos. When I found the
logo then I went on Illustrator and made it. I then went back
and sketched the sort of design I wanted the card to be. Once
that was decided I made it come to life in Illustrator. After that
was all done I put it into inDesign to make the final touches.

out ideas of logos I wanted to make. When I figured out the
logo then I went into illustrator and made the logo. After this
then I went to text wrangler and wrote the web codes in order
to make the webpage possible. After much trial and error then
I finally figured out what I wanted to do to it.declared some
backup fonts just in case the viewers browser didnt have these

would not be too close to the edge of the web page. This was
one of the most challenging parts of working with CSS.
