From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia: A Laughing Gull With Its Wings Extended in The Gull Wing Profile

Wings are surfaces that produce aerodynamic force to enable flight through the air or liquid. They have an airfoil shape to generate lift. Wings come in many forms including those found on birds, bats, insects, aircraft, boats and even some cars. The aerodynamic properties of wings allow for flight or propulsion through air or water. Wings function through generating differing air pressures above and below the wing, with lower pressure above producing lift. Wing design can be modified through various control surfaces to change flight characteristics.
