Introduction
Naruto, a comic book that turned into an anime series shared and enjoyed by the entire
world, was created in japan by Masashi Kishimoto. In this universe young kids begin training at
the age of six in order to become great ninja. Wild animals, those that are real, and those that
have only been heard of in mystical legends exist in this world, and not all of them are friendly.
Multiple villages exist in this world. The Village Hidden in the Rain, the Village Hidden in the
Sand, and the Village Hidden in the Mist are some of the more popular villages. The one of
most importance, not only in the series but also the one for this paper, is the Village Hidden in

struggle to explain something like villages and clans in
an anime to someone who may be unfamiliar to
something like this. However, I feel like you should
conclude by stating that you believe the Uchiha clan is

you started it off decently. You could also try to paint a
picture for the reader of the layout in Naruto just so that
the reader could have a nice visual- normally this helps

the Leaves. Here the most wildest things occur; take for example, the day that the evil Sannin
rogue ninja, ex to the Leaf Village, attacked in order to start a war between the Sand Village and
the Leaf Village. Another example would be when the Akatsuki, the evil jinchuriki killing group
destroyed the leaf while chasing down the main character. This village goes through a lot
throughout the series, and you may ask, What keeps it from falling down? Well the answer is
the Clans that make up the community within the Leaf Village. Clans are responsible for taking
care of business, war, and policing within the different villages. Multiple clans exist in all lands
and villages within. There are countless smaller clans within the walls of the Great leaf Village,
however, there are three major clans that make the stronghold of the Leaf; The Uchiha, The

Hyuga, and The Nara. These three clans make up the unstoppable and fear bringing army/police
force that has been seen by any clan. They are the reason that the Leaf Village has stood as the
strongest village in the ninja world. However, each of the clans have their ups and downs.
Thats what makes some stronger and beneficial to the village. When compared to each other,
some clans are better than others in different areas. So which clan is the best in the Leaf Village?
When you take into consideration the factors that come into play for the three major clans in the
Village hidden in the Leaves, then you could assume that the Uchiha clan is the strongest.
Lit Review
Like I stated earlier, the leave village has many different people and many different clans.
Here in the leaf village, the main three clans are the Uchiha, the Hyuga, and the Nara clans. The
Nara Clan is famous for, the ability to manipulate their shadow intelligence, and care for such
Rikumaru deer, which graze in the vast forest area of the Nara clan [3]. The Uchiha clan from
Konoha Village is known for its ability to copy Genjutsu, Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and then

replicate it at will, clan members have the ability to alter their eyes to take the form of
"Sharingan", with their eyes in this form clan members can copy the movement of those they
examine [9]. Also the Hyuga clan from Konoha Village is known for its ability to visualize the
chakra pathways, or tenketsu, of their opponent. Using this technique in conjunction with taijutsu
techniques, they can forcibly close their opponents chakra points so the victim can no longer use
their chakra [9]. Now, lets take a closer look at all three.
Uchiha are known their special eye the Sharingan. The Sharingan is a visual technique

that only Uchiha blood relatives can use. What happens is the eye turns red and three
little commas form around the pupil in the persons eye, these are like more pupils being
added to the users sight which allows him to see things steps ahead before they have been
done or before a move has been made. It is like seeing into the future. Also the
sharingan has powers that work like genjutsu. What is genjutsu? Well when used the
user can put his enemies into different trances, or a state of hypnosis, using the Sharingan
Eye and their keen senses. The Uchiha, similar to the Nara have great intelligence on and
off the battlefield. The Uchiha have been known to the leaf village as being the most
excellent fighters as policemen and as ninjas in squads or solo. The Uchiha have some
dark secrets however. The one that caused their near extinction was the time that the
Uchiha stone that only a perfect sharingan user could read was misinterpreted by one of
the older Uchiha members and they said that attacking the leaf village could turn out
good for the Uchiha clan and gain them the dominance in the leaf that they wanted. This
all turned bad for the Uchiha and even their own clan members had to take some of them
out of the world of the living thanks to their stupidity and ignorance. The Uchiha while a
large clan was very important in the living system within the Leaf village. They made up
a majority of the population and police force in the village and was one of the founding
clans in the Leaf Village.
The Hyuga Clan has a visual prowess also. The Hyuga clan is known for their Byakugan.
The byakugan is a visual technique that allows its user to see the chakra nodes and veins
running through anyone standing near them, and allows them to see chakra far away even
in the dark. The Hyuga clan was the next after the Uchiha to join the creation of the Leaf
village. The Hyuga have many dark secrets though. The Hyuga is split into two
branches, the main branch, that with the important people who run the clan, and the

second branch, which includes the warriors that are cursed to always serve the main
branch and do as they are told, when they are told, and however they are told. That is
what the secondary branch does. They are branded with a chakra seal that keeps them
from doing anything out of character or against the word of their master who is in the
main branch. The Hyuga find themselves to be a bit more stuck up than a lot of people
within the clan [5]. They have a lot of pride in their power, intelligence, and jutsu
capabilities thanks to their great patience and their taijutsu. They are very good with close
combat and long distance defense.
The Nara clan does however have very high intelligence ratings [4]. Nara clan members
are known for their kekkei genkai that allows them to manipulate their shadow to either
grab hold to and manipulate their opponents shadow or give it three dimensional form
and use their shadow to attack head on. Every shadow user is a little bit different, but
they all do the same thing. They all analyze their opponents deeply before they ever step
into a battle. Each and every one of the Nara clan members have a knack for coming up
with pre planned strategies, and a lot of times it will be more than one including a backup
plan for the plans back up plan. The Nara unlike the Hyuga and the Uchiha are not very
boastful with their capabilities. They keep to themselves more and are very laid back and
quiet people. Nara clans like the Uchiha are found in the Leaf ninja forces, but mostly
behind the lines with strategists like Shikaku Nara and Shikamaru Nara. They tend to
find the battle strategies for the teams, and groups that are fighting, and relay the message
to them so that they can stand a chance in their battles [7].
The three clans all are very important to the leaf village. Each one of them have their own super
power or kekkei genkai that allows them to be a little better than their opponents and have an
upper hand at all times. The Hyuga have their strong and speedy taijutsu accompanied with the
byakugan eye that enables them to see and attack chakra points and nodes in the body [3]. The
Nara have their keen intelligence and the ability to manipulate their shadows for a very sneaky
and creative fighting style. The Uchiha have great strategies, the sharingan eye and strong
taijutsu and ninjutsu. As an overall, the Uchiha would be the best clan out of the three, although
it has its dark side, they are the most prominent on the battlefield, and they were one of the two
founding clans within the leaf village.

From the information that I gathered I could tell that although it had once tried to take
over the leaf village, the Uchiha clan would still be the strongest clan. It messed up and almost
went extinct however, through my observation, you find that in the second series, Shippuden, the
Uchiha clan comes back to help save the day in the final battle against the 10 tails Jinchuriki.
The Hyuga clan could not have come close to being the best clan simply due to the fact
that the members of the Hyuga clan are split in half by class, and if you are not part of the main
branch then you probably will not be able to make it far in the ninja world due to the restraints
put on you by the main branch. They torture their secondary family and make them live their
lives like servants who will always serve at the feet of the main branch as protective lapdogs.
Then there is the Nara clan. How come the most peaceful but strong and intelligent clan
is not considered the best clan? Simply because in this ninja world, the best clan would be the
strongest and or fastest clan, and that is the Uchiha. The Nara are very intelligent and peaceful
yet they have a knack for sometimes acting lackadaisical and it could be their shortcoming in
battle, whereas the Uchiha always push forward 100 percent in their battles and they constantly
make strategies along the way,
Take for example in the first series, where Sasuke Uchiha faces off with Gaara of the
Sand in season one, Sasuke uses multiple jutsu and goes through different battle patterns in order
to find an opening or weak spot in Gaaras sand armor that would give him the upper hand. All
while they do things like that they have to carry the burden of using chakra to keep their
Sharingan at full power which drains a lot of chakra fast and only the most skilled ninja can
handle something of that caliber.
It is in fact a luxury to be able to look at this series and take in all of the detail and
greatness. For one man to create this highly detailed universe and continue its story for 15 years
straight is truly amazing.
Naruto is a very fun series to follow that includes a lot of twists and turns that can take
the audience on many different paths and many different character realizations. Many side
missions and many added chapters to the story really affect the reader or watchers reaction to
how the series progresses. The story of Naruto is a long one and is in fact a very touching one.
The world is made up of many different and strong people and families, and that is one of the

great things about this story is the variety in personalities. The time it took for Kishimoto to
create such a world with so many different people and activities is beyond ridiculous. To make
the different clan stories in such great detail, and continue to intertwine them and wrap them
around the main story to create such wild battles and realizations of characters and storylines is
amazing. Kishimoto knew when making this story that the clans would be good for story
development, and by adding different characteristics and making different storylines for the clans
he was able to make clear differences and striking similarities that could give the audience the
option to love or hate different clans. That is how I am able to declare that here, based upon fact
and mutual/shared opinion from online blogs and forums, that the Uchiha clan, due to their keen
eye, years of developed skill and experience, and their crazy ability to strategize and plan, is the
best clan that Konoha, or the Village Hidden in the Leaves has ever seen.
