The Royal Belum State Park is a huge park in the northern parts of Peninsular
Malaysia. It is part of the even bigger Belum-Temengor Forest Complex (BTFC) that is
shared with Thailand. Within the state park, you can see wildlife like elephants, deer, wild
boars and birds. There are a few endangered animal species that live within the state park such
as Malaysian tigers, Sumatran rhinoceros and Malaysian sunbears. However, chances to
encounter these great animals are very slim. Besides, this is one of the places to visit if you
want to see the Rafflesia as there are three species of this enormous flower.

There are a lot of things to see and do around the Belum State Park. Among the
attractions and activities are the Pulau Tujuh Waterfalls, The Pulai Talikail Lookout Tower,
Temenggor Dam, the search for the rafflesia and a visit to Kampung Chuweh which is an
authentic Orang Asli village.

There are quite a few decent resorts and local restaurants nearby the Royal Belum
State Park. The rule of thumb is that local meals are of much better quality than western
styled meals. The more popular resorts around Royal Belum State Park are Belum Rainforest
Resort, Belum Eco Resort and Banding Lake Side Inn.

Read the short story.

Last year, during a very heavy downpour Angelo found a puppy struggling in a flooded drain.
He held out a long stick to the puppy. It bit onto the stick. Angelo then gently pulled the stick
in. He quickly grabbed the puppy. It was totally drenched and whining. It had no injuries.

Taking the puppy home, Angelo wrapped it in a dry towel and gave it some warm
milk. The puppy was obviously very hungry. It quickly drank all the milk. After that, it
promptly felt asleep. Angelo prepared a box with some old clothes for the puppy to sleep in.
He then placed the sleeping puppy inside.

Angelo then went to the pet-shop nearby and bought some dog biscuits and some
vitamins for the puppy. When he came back, the puppy was still asleep. He went about doing

his work. Angelo was an English writer working on schoolbooks. He lived alone.

About two hours later, Angelo was happily whistling to himself as he preapared
dinner. When the appetizing smell of his cooking filled the house, he heard the puppy
whining. He went to the box. The puppy was trying to jump out of the box. When it saw
Angelo, it cowered in fear. He gently spoke to it in a soothing voice and picked it up. The
puppy happily licked Angelo on the hand. He decided to call it Bruno.

Today, a year later, Bruno and Angelo are good friends. They enjoy each others
company. Bruno is very good at guarding the house.It does not like stangers. It also does not
fear strangers. These days, Angelo confidently goes out often, knowing full well that Bruno is
at home. Previously, he was reluctant to leave the house for too long as his house was burgled
twice in the past.

Angelo always has to tie Bruno up when his friends visit him. As far as Bruno is
concerned, he has only one friend. And that is Angelo! He will growl and attack anybody else.
Angelo is quite happy with that arrangement.
