Position Overview

Staples is seeking Financial Analyst Interns to join one of our Finance Planning &
Management teams in either: Corporate Finance, North America Commercial Finance, or
Stores and Online Finance. Please note that when applying to this position, you may be
considered for any one of these roles.
Core responsibilities for these roles include:

Forecasting & planning of sales, margin and expenses


Analysis across a wide range of topics: G&A, mergers & acquisition, supply
chain
Annual budgeting
Company-wide long range planning
Customer level profitability analysis

Responsibilities (for all positions):

Participate in forecasting, planning, and analysis.


Provide timely and accurate financial analyses to management and executives
throughout Staples to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Ownership of projects from beginning to end.

Cross-channel interaction with managers and executives throughout the
organization while working on projects involving company-wide cross-functional
issues.

o Competitive Benchmarking
o Financial Business Modeling
o Process/Profit Improvement studies
o New store real estate and pro-forma analysis

The Staples Summer Internship Program is full time position for 10-12 weeks. In addition
to the regularly assigned work, all interns will have the opportunity to work on a crossfunctional intern group project. The projects enable interns to work collaboratively with
their peers on a cross-functional assignment that addresses a current business issue and
challenges them to build on their knowledge base and skill set.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications:
1st year MBA candidate
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Strong leadership, analytical, and financial skills.
Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills required, with
particular emphasis on Excel
Strong analysis and communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
Ability and confidence to present information to Staples executives, Board
members and Investor Relations
Strong desire to be a leader
Organizational skills
Time management skills
Attention to detail
