Assignment #1 Portfolio Assignment

Assignments details:
1. Due date: Week 7 beginning of class (25% penalty for each day late) - Specific
day to be assigned by your professor
Value: 15 % - Graded out of 50
2. This portfolio assignment consists of 3 parts. All parts are to be submitted
together, in person, as one bound document (stapled or in a dutoang).
3. Identify each part and each question accordingly.
4. Include a title page that follows APA style. See the posted handout on APA. It
can be found in the Content section of the course.
5. Use Times New Roman font, double spaced, 12 pts.
PART ONE Learning Styles (15 marks)
The acronym VARK stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinesthetic sensory
modalities that are used for learning information. Fleming and Mills (1992),
creators of the VARK questionnaire, suggest four categories that reflect the
experiences of both students and teachers. The VARK questionnaire asks a series
of questions that assist in determining an individuals approach to learning.
For this portion of the assignment, complete the following:
1. Take the VARK Learning Style questionnaire via this link: (3)

View and print your results. Add these results to your portfolio.
2. Answer the following questions (200 words minimum):
a. What VARK learning preference did the test indicate you are? (1)
b. Do you feel this is accurate? Why or why not? (4)
3. There are hundreds of available learning style tests available on the Internet.
Research different learning preference/style tests available online and select
one that you like. Provide the following: (7)
a. The name of this test
b. A half page summary of it
c. The link to the test

PART TWO Time Management (10 marks)

PART THREE EQi Reflection (25 marks)


List the 5 EQi skills identified in your EQi assessment. For each skill, complete the
following (5 marks for each skill):
1. Write a minimum 200-300 word reflection for each skill. Complete the
following:
a. Identify the skill you are discussing.
b. Do you think the assessment of the skill is accurate?
c. Identify a time when this skill came into action.
d. In relation to each skill, identify a specific goal you would like to
achieve over the duration of this term. For instance, if you were high
on independence, you may want to work harder this term to participate
in group work.
