Who Are We?

A joint stock company with private

A member of Unicom Group, a group
of Romanian companies.

Romanian railroad transportation and
freight forwarding market, with
highly skilled staff and over 20 years
of experience in the industry.

1994

Unicom Tranzit is
established as one of the
first private freight
forwarders in Romania.

2000

Unicom Tranzit opens


two new terminals in
Dorneti and Halmeu,
at the connection
points with the
Hungarian, Ukrainian
and Moldovian
railroads.

2013

Unifertrans merges with


Unicom Tranzit,
integrating the activities
of railroad operator and
freight forwarder into
one company.

1999

Unifertrans, the second

We maintain an efficient and diversified rolling
stock fleet, composed of:
54 electric, diesel-electric and diesel-hydraulic,
standard and broad gauge locomotives for
haulage and shunting.
More than 1200 wagons for a variety of solid and
liquid freight.

We have two rolling stock repair and


maintenance workshops in Feteti and
Trgovite.

Rolling Stock Workshops


in Feteti and Trgovite
The workshops are fully
equipped to execute:
Planned and intermediate
maintenance operations, and
accident repairs for freight
wagons.
Type RR-RG repairs and
planned RT, R1, R2, 2R2 and
R3 maintenance for electric
and diesel locomotives.

We perform maintenance
and repairs for our own
fleet, as well as for those of
other railroad operators.

Logistics Network
We currently have more than 20 working
points located throughout Romania.
We have 2 terminals for transloading and
storage of solid goods in Halmeu and Dorneti.
We operate in 5 other liquid goods terminals
that are part of Unicom Group.
Apart from our own terminals, we form
logistics chains in partnership with other
forwarders and terminal operators.

Halmeu, Dorneti and Galai Terminals


The terminals act as
junction points between
the standard and broad
gauge railroads of Eastern
Europe.
We have transloading,
storage and bagging
facilities for most types of
solid and bulk goods.
Additionally, we provide
transloading, blending
and storage in silos for
liquid products.

Our Partners
Unicom Tranzit is a full member of CIT and an associate
member of FIATA, UIC, OCCF i OSJD;
We have formal collaboration agreements with the
state railway operators of Ukraine and Moldova, as well
as with private operators in Hungary and Bulgaria,
enabling us to serve as an important link for freight
transiting South-East Europe.
We work with transport operators and organizations
from all over the world and we are always open to new
collaborations.

Our Customers
Our customers are Romanian and multinational
companies involved in a variety of industries.
Most of our customers carry out activites in Romania,
while some of them choose it as a transit country.
A part of our customers outsource transport-related
activities to us (for example, the operation and
maintenance of railroad infrastructure within their
facilities).
Generally, we enter into medium and long term
contracts, as these allow us to minimize costs and offer
our customers the most advantageous conditions
possible. However, we also work in spot situations.

Clients:

Arcelor Mittal is the world leader


in steel production and operates
the largest steel plant in Romania.
Unicom Tranzit organizes the coke
transport from the factory in
Zdzieszowice to the steel plant in
Galai and performs all of the
shunting operations within the
facility;
The collaboration with Arcelor
Mittal was a challenge for us at
first, as the transport involves a
large quantity of freight, the
obligation to be punctual and the
need to work with multiple
subcontractors from different
countries.

Clients:

Carpatcement is one of the largest


cement producers in Romania.
For more than 10 years we have been
serving two of their cement factories,
in Taca and Fieni, where we are
entirely responsible for the chalk
transport from the quarries to the
factories and for the maintenance of
the railway infrastructure within the
facility.
At the Taca quarry we also perform
the blasting and preparation of the
raw material.
This shows how we are willing and
able to unburden our clients of
certain operations which, though
necessary, lie outside of their
domain, allowing them to focus on
what is essential for their business.

Clients:

Tenaris Silcotub is the


predominant producer of
seamless steel pipes, used in
various applications in the
automotive, chemical and energy
industries.
For the past 3 years, we have
been executing the transport of
steel billets from the steel plant
in Clrai to the pipe and tubular
products factory in Zalu;
From the factory in Zalu, we
deliver the finished products
directly to industrial consumers
or to the Port of Constanta in
order to be forwarded by ship.
