Samsung India Electronics Private Limited (SIEL) is the Indian subsidiary of the US $55.2
billion Samsung Electronics Corporation (SEC) headquartered in Seoul, Korea. It is the hub of
Samsung's South West Asia Regional Operations, and looks after its business in Nepal,
Bangladesh, Maldives & Bhutan besides India. SIEL commenced operations in India in
December, 1995. Initially, a player only in the Colour Televisions segment, it later diversified
into colour monitors (1999) and refrigerators (2003). Today, it is recognized as one of the
fastest growing brands in the sphere of digital technology, and enjoys a sales turnover of over $
US 1 billion in a just a decade of operations in India.

The Samsung India Products are broadly classifies into five categories:
Samsung in India has emerged as the undisputed market leader in many IT Product categories.
Numerous blue chip businesses in India depend for their IT hardware requirements on Samsung's
IT Products. Samsung enjoys parallel leadership in TFT-LCD Technology, across the globe as
well as India.
Samsung Electronics' R&D labs in USA and Korea have evolved some most significant
technologies greatly improving the speed, performance and reliability of Hard Disk Technology.
In India, Samsung takes the lead as one of the earliest brands to provide extended warranty
options and introduce high capacity; high speed HDD's gratifying the mounting needs of the
Indian IT industry. DVD writers, DVD ROM's, CD-RW's and Combo Drives comprise the
Samsung optical media solutions. A unique 'Octo Edge' technology is a Samsung master product,
which is a combination of eight functions that empowers the Samsung drivers to read optical
discs in any format and condition with better speed, lesser noise and more reliability.
Samsung Electronics India Software Operations (SISO) is one of the eleven Research &
Development centers of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., housed in the IT hub of India, Bangalore.
With its inception dating back to February 1996, as a liaison office, today it has grown in
magnitude and proportions as a center of excellence in research and software development
encompassing a wide range of technology domains. SISO today is a Private Limited Company,
head quartered in Bangalore with ambitious plans of expanding its operation by 2 to 3 times by
the year 2010.

SISO works with some of the best organizations in software and technology in India, to leverage
on their core competencies. With an objective to spearhead Samsung´s initiatives in India, SISO
contributes to the different technologies in Wireless, Networking, Convergence, Digital and
Semi-conductor in India where these domains have almost become revolutions.
Telecom & Network Division (TND) is working on products that enable Samsung to bring the
world closer. The division is involved in research, standardization, product design, system
architecture, and development leading to commercial deployments. The core areas of work in the
TND include wireless networks, enterprise networks and next generation wireless research.
The products developed in TND encompass solutions for multiplicity of markets including
service providers (wireless/enterprise). TND product portfolios are based on the dynamic
economics, rapid introduction of new services, and rapid scalability. Most of the TND teams
work with other Samsung Labs around the world in a virtual team environment.
The product portfolios include IP Switch, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Media Gateway
products, MSC Server, Soft Switch, enterprise elements such as Office servers, for providing end
to end solutions. This product portfolio is required for rapid, large-scale deployment of wireless
networks (including 3GPP & 3GPP2 networks), for incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs)
and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), and multitenant-dwelling unit (MDU) service
providers.
Telecom Network Division is involved in the design and development of IMS network
elements/functions including the Application servers, session control, gateways, and traffic
management algorithms.
