PREAMBLE
Industry Institute interaction is a highly essential tool for effective teaching-learning
process in imparting technical education. Technical education without this collaborative effort
is meaningless and ineffective. Incorporating Industrial Training in the curriculum is a positive
approach in this direction. Exposure to the industrial environment enables the student to feel
and experience the work culture and its implications. All the more it makes them adequately
matured and responsible, eventually resulting in acquiring skills to deal with technical and
interpersonal issues. This is a very good opportunity to learn under a different environment, but
students gain is dependent on positive attitude keenness and approach to training
The purpose of this manual is to serve as a useful information booklet and guideline for
engineering students who pursue technical training/project training in an industry and is in line
with the curriculum prescribed for semester VII.
OBJECTIVES
1. To help to correlate the lessons learnt in theory and actual practices followed in the
industries.
2. To expose to an industrial environment.
3. To get tuned to work under the atmosphere of factory discipline.
4. To make aware of the psychology of the workers, their habits, attitudes and to prepare them
to approach the problems, considering the practices followed in an industry.
5. To make appreciate the need for a coordinated effort of various persons at different levels in
different departments for achieving the set goals and targets.
OUTCOMES
Learner will be able to
1. Get familiarized with various technological trends, approaches and applications along with
managerial exposure.
2. Appreciate and realize the size and scale of operations in Industry.
ITM University,Raipur
3. Get an opportunity to apply their knowledge in problem solving and eventually develop that
skill.
4. Demonstrate understanding of relevant application oriented subjects in a better prospective.
5. Demonstrate understanding of various constraints of time and cost, within which goods are
produced and services rendered in a specified quantum.
6. Describe the scope, functions and job responsibilities in various departments of an
organization.
7. Develop a positive attitude, which will bring in a visible change in their approach while
dealing with technical and interpersonal issues.

Dont while away your time while on training. You can learn many technical aspects
through close observation and/or through interaction with the skilled and experienced technical
hands. Of course, doing things with your own hands and getting the feel of it is the best way to
learn and to get exposed to technical practices. Working on a mutually beneficial project is the
most beneficial methodology for getting a better insight into the world of technical practices.
You get an opportunity here to propose and implement ideas based on your innovative thinking.
This helps one to dig out ones hidden talents and get self-motivated. Your efforts may prove to
be useful and cost cutting measures for the company. All the more, one should learn to think
loudly about implementation of various measures like improving design, enhancing quality
standards, incorporating better/alternative modes of tooling / manufacturing methods etc in
order to enhance the competitiveness of the firm.
Trainees in small groups will be placed under the supervision of faculty who will act as their
project guide. Trainees should report to their respective guides from institution and maintain
good rapport with him/her. All the training related issues should be brought to the notice of the
concerned guide and resolve through him/her. The college Guide will visit the company on
monthly/bimonthly basis and monitor the progress of the trainees under them with the company
counterpart. They also will render guidance and provide technical inputs to the trainees
pertaining to their work/project.
In addition the trainees will be required to come to institution on three different occasions
during the course of their training period, in order to make technical presentations pertaining to
the progress and nature of the work/project undertaken by them in the company. The target
audience will be the college project guides/teachers and the fellow trainees and duration of the
presentation will be about 15 minutes followed by question-answer sessions. The stage I of
the presentation will be about the training area/department and technical work/project that is
being assigned to them. Stage II and stage III presentations will cover the progress of the
project that is being pursued, extend of technical exposure and action plan for the completion of
the project within the stipulated time frame. The term work marks will be allocated on the basis
of these presentations and submission of the final project report.

LOG BOOK
The best way to organize your writing is to keep a log book of all your work in progress. You
should write everything you do on the project in this log book every week. Every thought and
observation you have on your project should go into this book, along with notes of meetings
with your supervisor, results, theoretical developments, calculations, everything. This log book
will become an invaluable source of material when you come to write up your project in the
final report. It will also provide relevant material for your interim and final report. You should
submit the log book to your mentor at the end of the project. A logbook is essential to get proper
credit of the project while patenting and copyrighting and in case of legal proceedings.
