Centricity PACS RA1000 application. Centricity PACS 4.x releases do not
support the WS APP WEB DWNLD media.

Hardware supplied by customers must meet all applicable standards listed
under the Certifications section in the Centricity PACS RA1000 Workstation
and Exam Manager Operator Manual for this release of Centricity PACS.

System Requirements
Important
Before installing or upgrading, verify that your site hardware meets Centricity
PACS compatibility requirements. If your site's hardware is not listed in this
section, escalate to your director of Service as soon as possible.
Important
Centricity PACS 4.0 SP5 supports the Archive Interface Module (AIM). The AIM
software runs either on the Enterprise Archive (EA) server or, if the site does not
have EA, on a standalone AIM server. If a pre-4.0 SP5 site uses either EA or the
GE Application Service Provider (GE ASP) archiving service, the site will need
to acquire a standalone server to run AIM. The AIM software must be configured
on the EA server or a standalone EA server before the PACS upgrade is
completed.
PowerPath Users
Upgrading to Red Hat 5.8 will break the configuration of your PowerPath
drivers. To restore the multipathing connection, you will need to reinstall the
PowerPath drivers. Make sure you are prepared to do this after the Red Hat 5.8
upgrade is complete.

C2C Server Compatibility

In Centricity PACS 4.0 SP5, Centricity to Centricity (C2C) servers are supported between
PACS 4.0 SP5 to PACS 4.0 SP5.
Transfers between PACS 4.0 SP5 and other versions are not supported.
1-6:
SPINE Authentication
Centricity PACS 4.0 SP5 does not support SPINE authentication.
SPINE consists of security features used in the Centricity PACS Workstation and Exam
Manager that include Single Sign On (SSO) and Exam Access: Legitimate Relationship
and Patient Consent [or Patient Demographics Services (PDS)].

Virtual Machine Requirements

Centricity PACS 4.0 SP5 supports installation and deployment of the IMS and other
servers in a virtual environment.

Memory Requirements
Virtual memory needs a 1-to-1 relationship to physical memory. For example, if you install
a database server and two nodes, the physical servers would require 24 GB (3 servers x 8
GB RAM). Therefore, the virtual memory of those VMs is also 24 GB, and physical
memory of the VM farm is 24 GB.
Note:

You can add additional VMs to your VM farm; however, performance degradation may
occur if you overextend your physical RAM.
CPU Requirements
Virtual CPUs do not always need a 1-to-1 relationship with the physical CPUs as is the
case with RAM. Depending on CPU performance (CPU speed), additional virtual CPUs
may be required to perform the same processes as CPUs with higher CPU speed.

Red Hat Linux 5.8 is required if the server uses the AMD Opteron 6000-series chip set
in a VMware virtual environment.
Network Requirements
Virtual NICs replace physical NICs. In a non-VM environment, 2 physical NICs are

Simplified System Administration Tools
Launch System Administration Tools from CA Tool Home Page
You can launch Centricity PACS admin tools (e.g., CEM, Flamingo, RHA) from the
Centricity Administration (CA) tool home page. The My Links area at the bottom of the
page accommodates a configurable list of URLs.

Launch Tools from Any Browser

With this release, you can launch Centricity PACS tools (e.g., Centricity Administration,
Flamingo, Exam Manager) from most browsers, including Internet Explorer, Chrome,
Firefox, Opera, and Safari. (For version information, see Browser Support on page 29.)

Launch RA600 from Centricity Exam Manager

You can launch the RA600 application from the Patient Information tab of Centricity Exam
Manager (CEM) in RA1000. Clicking the Launch QC Tool button opens RA600 with
administrative privileges. The feature is available in both RA1000 CEM and in standalone
CEM.
Note:
RA600 and Centricity Exam Manager must be installed on the same machine.

OGZen Tool
OGZen is tool that helps system administrators manage RA1000 hardware and software
resources. The web-based tool is optionally installed on the Centricity RA1000 workstation
when installing or upgrading RA1000 software. System administrators can run the tool at
the workstation or remotely via the Windows Services panel. When the tool is running,
OCS Inventory Service is listed in the Windows Services panel.

AW Server Support
For integration with AW Server, a Centricity PACS site that uses single-study mode can
continue to use the AWSuite profiling algorithm. Otherwise, the site needs to create an
AWIntegration profiling algorithm.

Platinum properties determine whether and where each function button appears in the
user interface. By default, the function buttons are displayed. For more information, see
the IDR Extend section in the Extends Installation appendix of the Centricity PACS
RA1000 Workstation Installation and Service Manual.
Exam Association
Report with Association is removed from the Extends drop-down menu. With this
release, the functionality is as follows:
When a user selects multiple studies from the worklist, and then clicks Launch
Report, exams are associated automatically.
When a user selects only one study form the worklist and then clicks Launch
Report, an association dialog may be displayed, depending on the Prompt for
Report Association setting and whether other studies are available to associate.
When a user clicks Launch Report in the Image View Area, an association dialog
may be displayed, depending on selection of the Prompt for Report Association
preference and whether other studies are available to associate.
Login to Dictation System is removed from the menu. Now when a user clicks Launch
Report, RA1000 attempts to launch and log in to the dictation system if the user is not
already logged in.

New and revised IDR preferences on the RA1000 Utilities palette provide a tighter
integration between RA1000 and the reporting system:

Basic Text Structured Reports

Basic Text Structured Reports (DICOM SR SOP UID 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.88.11) are
DICOM objects associated with exams (e.g., dose radiation reports from a C-arm). Users
can view and print these reports from the Structured Reports tab in the Notes window.
Note:
The ViewSR privilege is required to view or print structured reports.

DICOM C-Find Support

To support a DICOM C-Find query, a new Flamingo configuration parameter
query_retrieve_date_type enables querying DAS based on the study date
($STUDY_DATE) or the examination date ($RP_STUDY_DATE). The default
configuration is the study table date.

Examination Date in the DAS Feature Configuration chapter of the Centricity PACS
Servers Service Manual.

Problem:
Images sent to PACS with incorrect patient data sometimes resulted in the DICOM application server (DAS)
creating a new patient. When the site administrator merged the patient and exam to correct the error, some of the
image information was not updated because the Archive Interface Module (AIM) archived the image using the
patient ID and PID domain name of the default domain.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. Now AIM archives images to the correct domain, which ensures that image
information is updated correctly.
Note: Any images acquired before this fix are not updated.

Note: The problem and resolution text was revised and a warning was added for an issue that was resolved in
Centricity PACS 4.0 SP3.
Problem:
Centricity PACS and Talk were out of synch when a report being dictated was not closed before a previously
dictated report was opened by a radiologist who responded no when prompted to create an addendum.
Resolution:
A property was added to the Extend.properties file with a default setting that maintains exam-report synchronization
and that closes an open report before allowing the user to open another report.

Where:
true = Always closes the previously opened report before opening a new exam. The user will be prompted to
save the previously opened report.
false = Allows the previously opened report to stay open after an exam is closed. The user is not prompted to
save the previously opened report.
When the property is set to true (the default), reports in Talk and Centricity PACS RA1000 Workstation are
ensured to stay in synch.
Warning: If you consider changing this property from true to false, you must discuss this configuration change with
the site's system administrator and inform the system administrator and the users at the site of the results that users
will experience with this configuration. Changing this property to the false setting allows a user to keep exams and
reports from multiple patients open at the same time, which can result in an exam becoming out of context with its
corresponding report. If users are not informed that their workstation is configured with the false setting for this
property, this situation might result in a potential patient safety issue.

Problem:
In a Centricity PACSdriven workflow, launching clinical information for Patient A and then launching images for
Patient B from the Centricity PACS worklist sometimes caused the PACS and RIS-IC to be out of sync.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue.

Problem:
If the IMS database fails over automatically, the standby database may not have all of the committed transactions
from the failed active database. (By design, it is acceptable to have up to 10 minutes of data loss.) For
performance reasons, the DAS application will cache some database information during acquisition. If the cached
data that the DAS was using was not replicated to the standby database, it will be invalid after an automatic
failover. Using the invalid data on the new active database can result in profiling newly acquired images into the
wrong study/exam or the wrong patient.
Resolution:
If the IMS database fails over automatically, the following now occurs:
1. The Coordination Module terminates all current connections with the diagnostic workstation user and does not
allow the user to login for a minimum of 5 minutes (the amount of time is configurable).
2. The Coordination Module updates the IMS login status to FAILOVER.
3. After 5 minutes minimum, the Coordination Module allows the diagnostic workstation user to log in.
4. The Coordination Module updates the IMS login status to ACTIVE.
5. The DAS IMS poll thread sees an ACTIVE login status and starts profiling images.
Problem:
When multiple patient studies were opened, Centricity PACS occasionally deleted closed/historical images that
were not rejected by the user.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. Now images are deleted only if they are rejected by the user.

Problem:
Images acquired on a Philips Allura/Xper Angioscopy machine did not display the orientation marker in RA1000
when GSPS from the Philips Workstation was applied because the adjusted font size was too large to be visible.
Resolution:
Now RA1000 uses both bounding box tags in the DICOM header and the determined aspect ratio to calculate the
font size on images acquired by a third party. To ensure that annotations are legible, anew Platinum property sets
the maximum font size (32) of images acquired by a third party:
com.ge.med.platinum.work.GSPS.max_thirdPartyFontSize=32

section in the Centricity PACS Workstation Installation and Service Manual.
Problem:
The Centricity PACSAW Server plug-in sometimes returned an invalid IP address.
Resolution:
Problem:
RA1000 Workstation could not display a GSPS object (e.g., annotation) from a third party other than RA1000 or
RA600 if the objects bounding-box information was not in the DICOM GSPS object header.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. RA1000 Workstation now displays GSPS objects, regardless of whether the objects
bounding-box information is in the DICOM GSPS object header.
Problem:
When upgrading to Centricity PACS 4.0.1, occasionally the AIM user account was not created in the IMS database.
Resolution:
The steps to manually add the AIM user to the IMS database are documented in the Post-Upgrade Tasks appendix
of the Centricity PACS Servers Installation and Upgrade Manual.

When delivering events to the HL7 interface, the Event Notification Monitor (ENM) failed.
Resolution:
Problem:
When vendor-neutral archive (VNA) images with gray-scale presentation state (GSPS) data were retrieved by
Centricity PACS, the DICOM archive server (DAS) hung.
Resolution:
Problem:
When data to be sent to an external Enterprise Archive contained more than one special character (e.g., < > / &),
Centricity PACS did not build the HL-7based communication correctly.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. Special characters in HL-7based communication to the Enterprise Archive are now
processed correctly.

Problem:
When HL-7based messages sent to an external system contained UTF-8 characters (e.g., in Danish), the
Centricity PACS Event Notification Manager (ENM) substituted the character ? for the correct character.
Resolution
A code fix partially resolved this issue.
To fully resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1 Add the following property to the /local/pacs/enm/bin/logservice.properties file:
log4j.appender.FILEAPP.Encoding=UTF-8
2 Restart the ENM.
Note: When viewing the enm log files, change the editor encoding format to UTF-8.
Problem:
In RA1000 Workstation, the Cine Scroll tool did not function properly when it was added to the Tools palette from
the Utilities menu.
Resolution:
Problem:
In RA1000 Workstation, when some MG images were viewed with the Lights Out or Lights On skin, the DICOM
information box was not displayed correctly.

Problem
When the user modified a natural patient trait (NPT) parameter in the Centricity Administration (CA) tool, the
warning message that was displayed did not match the warning message in the Patient Identifier Parameter table
in the Patient ID Cross Referencing (PIX) Support chapter of the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual.
Resolution
The workflow was changed so that the CA tool displays the warning when the user selects an NPT parameter
(instead of after modifying the parameter). The warning messages in the CA tool and in the Patient Identifier
Parameter table in the Patient ID Cross Referencing (PIX) Support chapter of Centricity PACS Servers Service
Manual are now the same:
Warning: Cross check patient parameters used for NPT profiling before saving them. If NPT profiling
cannot distinguish between two patients, this could result in mismatched data and lead to misdiagnosis.
Problem:
In a PACSAW Server integrated environment, Centricity PACS did not load nuclear medicine (NM) images
correctly in Volume Viewer, an AW Server application.
Resolution:
A code fix and an update to the PACSAW Server plug-in resolved this issue. Centricity PACS now loads NM
images correctly in a PACSAW Server integrated environment.
Problem:
Upgrades to 4.0.x failed when the event table was empty. This typically happened only during an upgrade
performed immediately after a baseline installation.

Problem:
In RA1000 Workstation, the mammography fit-to-breast functionality sometimes did not size an image correctly
because boundary coordinates sent by GE Senograph in the DICOM header were for the entire image instead of
the region of interest (ROI).
Resolution:
GE Senograph release ADS 55.20 resolved this issue. Effective with release ADS 55.20, a GE Senograph now
sends boundary coordinates of the ROI in the DICOM header so that the image is sized correctly in RA1000.
Problem:
Automatic failover to the Centricity PACS database replication server was not always successful.
Resolution:
The default values of two new parameters (FAILOVER_USER_LOCK_LENGTH and
FAILOVER_USER_LOCK_LIST) in the Coordination Module configuration file (CoordMod.cfg) help ensure
successful automatic failover. These parameters and values are added to the file when upgrading to Centricity
PACS 4.0 SP5.

Installation and Upgrade Manual.
Problem:
In RA1000 Workstation, when all opened exams were closed from the drop-down list in the Image Viewer, there
was a perceptible delay before each exam was closed.
Resolution:
Problem:
After a specific sequence of steps, the Patient Jacket palette was out of sync with the Work Modes palette and
Image View area.

Problem:
Centricity PACS user documentation did not provide enough information about how Centricity PACS handles
deletion of user-rejected images.
Resolution:
The Rejected Image Management chapter was added to the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual. The chapter
describes how Centricity PACS manages user-rejected images, both before and after images are archived. The
chapter also shows where related information is found in the other Centricity PACS manuals.
Problem:
In PowerScribe integration with RA1000, displaying mammogram historical images was slow.
Resolution:
Problem:
Although Centricity PACS accepted 64-character patient IDs from external systems, such as RIS, Centricity PACS
stored patient IDs in 32-character fields. As a result, entering new orders and merging patients from RIS sometimes
failed.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. Centricity PACS now stores patient IDs from an external system in 64-character
fields.
Problem:
Centricity PACS integration with AW Server did not support 2560x1600 resolution on a C Monitor (three-monitor
configuration).
Resolution:
Set the resolution of the C Monitor to 1600x1200. Is this the default resolution in the hardware.properties file? Can
user set the property? See pages 59 (to config manually) and 183 (to config with properties) of attached PDF.

Problem:
RA1000 Workstation would not display MG images when the MG Image Type (0008,0008) in the DICOM header
was any value other than PRIMARY.
Resolution:
RA1000 now handles acquired DICOM images based on parameter values in the Platinum.properties file. For
details, see Configuring Display of Derived Secondary DICOM Images in this document.
Problem:
The following information in the ITS Initial Configuration chapter in the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual
was incorrectly labeled important:
Important
Sites that have more than one STS must configure ITS to enable image transfer
between all STSs in the system. Otherwise, presentation state information and
other STS-related information might not be delivered to a workstation user as
expected.
Resolution:
The note is now correctly labeled warning:

stopped.

Problem:
During an interrupted workflow, if a user switched between worklists and an opened exam was not among the first
50 exams returned by Centricity PACS by default, the opened exam did not appear in the worklist.
Resolution:
Centricity PACS now displays an opened exam in the selected worklist.

Problem:
The contact information was incorrect in the Applications Support Using iCenter, eService, and Applications
Answerline section in the About This Manual chapter of the Centricity PACS service and operator manuals.
Resolution:
The contact information is now up to date in the Centricity PACS manuals.
Problem:
Because the Cache Manager (CAM) did not correctly calculate the Isolon NAS volume, RA1000 was unable to
display images using the NAS volume size greater than 2TB, and PACS server subsystems were unable to connect
to a netapp storage device configured as a NAS.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. Now the Cache Manager (CAM) correctly calculates the Isolon NAS volume, RA1000
can display images using NAS volume size greater than 2TB, and PACS server subsystems can connect to a
netapp storage device configured as a NAS.
Problem:
If an exam with images was opened and then a zero-image exam was selected, RA1000 displayed an out of
context message on the Patient Jacket and Report Palettes because the images from the opened exam were still
visible.
Resolution:
If an exam with images is opened and then a zero-image exam is selected, RA1000 hides the images from the
opened exam.
Problem:
In Centricity Exam Manager (CEM), the Patient ID field was blank if the ID was greater than 32 characters. CEM
now displays Patient IDs of up to 64 characters.

and exam selection by a third-party application or by a user from the opened exam list, the same exam is AW Suite

The DAS RCM request tokenizer interpreted the token value as a token delimiter.

When upgrading to Centricity PACS 4.0.x, the PrepIMS script did not support upgrading from Centricity PACS
3.1.1.2.
Resolution:
The PrepIMS script now supports upgrading from Centricity PACS 3.1.1.2 to 4.0.x.
Problem:
In RIS-IC integration with Centricity PACS, after launching Result Reporting for patient A from the RA1000 worklist,
the user opened an exam for patient B in RA1000. The report in RIS-IC was for patient A, while the images
displayed in RA1000 were for patient B.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. In this scenario, Centricity PACS now closes the Result Reporting window in RIS-IC.
Problem:
When the OrthoView extend was selected during RA1000 installation, RA1000 did not launch after rebooting.
Resolution:
Problem:
When expanding the IMS database, the platform expansion script did not recognize all available devices.
Resolution:
A code fix resolved this issue. Now the IMS database can be expanded to up to 3 TB.

Security Prompt When Navigating the CA Tool

On the Users & Functions menu in the CA tool, when User Group is chosen from the
drop-down menu on the User page, a security warning appears in some browsers (e.g.,
Firefox). If Continue (or Send, depending on the browser) is selected, the User Group
page is displayed. If Cancel is selected, the User page is displayed even though the dropdown menu shows User Group.

Restore Compatible jar Files on the Workstation

Restore two jar files (jcifs.jar and stsaccess.jar) to pre-3.2compatible versions:
1. If the RA1000 application is running, quit the application.
