FACULTY RECRUITMENT
National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland) is one among ten
newly established NITs sanctioned during the XI five year plan in 2009.

The

Institute is centrally funded by MHRD, Government of India. The Institute started


functioning at its permanent campus located at Chumukedima, Dimapur, Nagaland 797103. Applications are invited from individuals who would enjoy the excitement
of being associated with setting up of a new Institution with excellent teaching and
research. The individual should have a strong commitment for teaching and
unequivocal flavor for research. The positions available are at the level of Associate
Professor and Professor in the regular cadre and on contract basis.

Qualification: Ph.D
Experience: 6 Years after Ph.D or 9 Years in total (not
counting Ph.D enrolment period) out of which 3 years
should be after Ph.D; Minimum three years experience
required at the level of Assistant Professor with AGP
8,000/- or equivalent in a reputed Institute / Industry /
R&D Laboratory.
Other Essential Requirements:
(i) One Ph.D guided in career as sole or Principal
Supervisor and one continuing
(ii) Four papers in SCI* journals after Ph.D.
(iii) Two projects on-going or one on-going plus one
completed
(iv) Academic outreach activity equivalent to two selffinanced short-term courses

Common Essential Requirements
1. Ph.D. Degree with superior academic record at all levels from high school
onwards and First class (6.5/10 CGPA or 60 percent) at UG and PG levels
2. All degrees from reputed institutions, preferably from institutions of National
Importance or University Departments in India or abroad
3. Good oral and written presentation skills
4. Strong command over fundamentals of subjects
5. All Qualification and Experience will be recognized as on 30-09-2015
6. The following shall be considered as essential requirements, without which a
faculty member will be deemed unfit for promotion or selection even if he has
met or exceeded the prescribed qualification, experience and performance
criteria.

Teaching

Institute and professional Activity


(For teachers of same or different
institute)

A faculty member is not expected to excel in all the fields, but he / she must
contribute in at least two areas with visible contribution to each. Poor record under
any of the above items, in terms of dishonesty, negligence, harassing beneficiaries,
indifference or not taking up a responsibility will be viewed seriously by the selection
committees. When an assignment is given by the administration, the faculty member
must show initiative and work pro-actively towards improvement of his work
environment instead of simply holding on to a position.
It is also expected that faculty members will take positive initiatives to be
visible at the Institute-level so that they win the trust of the higher management and
get assignments to contribute to institutional progress.

E. GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC categories are required to attach the caste
certificate duly signed by competent authority in the format as prescribed by the
Government of India. The Institute follows the central Govt. approved list for
SC/ST/OBC.
2. Reservation for PWD (PDA) category exists as per Government of India norms.
Positions from this category will be filled up depending on the availability of
suitable candidate. Candidates may indicate this on their application forms and
bring necessary certificates from competent authority as applicable to Central
Government Service norms, at the time of interview. The final selection will be
made on the basis of the recommendations of a Medical Board / Officer being
appointed for examining the physical disability.
3. Candidates employed in Government / Semi Government Organizations /
Autonomous bodies should submit their applications through proper channel. In
case, the original application if routed through proper channel which is likely to
be delayed, a photocopy of the application should be sent in advance to reach
before the prescribed last date. All such candidates are required to produce No
Objection Certificate at the time of interview.
4. The Industry / Research experience should be in Government or Public Enterprise
or National Laboratory. However, experience in Private Industry will be
considered, provided it is incorporated in the Indian Companies Act of 1956.
5. Number and Nature of posts shown above may change and vary at the time of
Selection / Recruitment. Further, the Institute reserves the right not to fill any
post(s).

6. All Degree Certificates should be from recognized Universities / Institutes.


Further, attach

the CGPA to percentage (%) conversion criteria from the

University / Institution / Board, failing which the Institute will apply its own
conversion criteria.

7. The applicant is the only responsible for the authenticity of submitted information,
other documents and photograph. Furnishing of any false information and / or
Suppression / Concealment of facts shall lead to Rejection / Cancellation of
Selection / Recruitment.

8. Mere fulfilment of the required qualifications and experience etc., does not entitle
that a candidate will be called for Interview / Selection. Short listing criteria of
calling for interview may be higher than those advertised.

9. The Institute reserves the right to Limit / Restrict the number of candidates for
interview, on the basis of qualifications and experience, higher than those
prescribed in this advertisement and as per merit decided by scrutiny committee.
Criteria for short listing may vary from department to department.

10. Candidates will have to appear for the interview at their own cost if called, before
a Selection Committee on the date and place which will be separately notified.

11. Candidates may be required to make a brief technical presentation one day before
the interview.

12. Candidates should bring all relevant certificates and testimonials at the time of
interview (Original and one set of attested photocopy).

13. Selected candidates will have to produce a medical fitness certificate from a
Government Hospital prior to joining. They should be prepared to join in duty
within the specified time limit. Selected candidates will be on probation initially
for one year which may be extended on unsatisfactory performance.

14. Besides the basic pay and Grade Pay in the applicable scale of pay of the post,
admissible allowances like DA, HRA etc. in accordance with Central Government
/ Institute Rules in force from time to time are payable.

15. The employees of the Institute will be entitled to medical benefit for self and
family.

16. New Pension Scheme of Government of India is applicable on new employees as


per Institute Rules.

17. Accommodation in campus, if available, will be provided on payment of usual


rent.

18. Leave Travel Concession for self and family will also applicable as per Central
Government Rules.

19. The Institute reserves the right to reject any or all applications without assigning

granted higher than starting pay on recommendation of selection committee.

L. GENERAL INFORMATION (for Technical and Supporting Staff)

submit photocopy of noncreamy layer certificate of the year 2015-16 without
which they will be considered only for OPEN category. The Institute follows

M. HOW TO APPLY (for both Teaching and Technical posts)

1. The application and summary sheet must be submitted in the prescribed format
as available in the Institute's Website. Application can be downloaded from the
Website www.nitnagaland.ac.in.

2. Please mention the Post Applied for and Department on the left-top corner
of the envelope containing the application. Separate applications are to be
submitted for each Post and Department.

3. The filled in application should be accompanied by the application fee of Rs.


600/- (Rs.300/- in case of SC/ST candidates) in the form of Crossed Demand
Draft drawn in favour of The Director, National Institute of Technology
Nagaland payable at the Chumukedima, Dimapur from any Nationalized
Bank.

4. Self attested copies of certificates, mark sheets, testimonials etc., should be


attached with the application and the originals must be produced at the time of
interview and at the time of joining, if selected. The selected candidates shall
produce in original Matriculation or equivalent certificate as proof of the date
of birth. No other evidence will be accepted.

5. Candidates applying for more than one discipline / post should enclose the
application fee with each application form.

6. The completed application and summary sheet in all respects along with
photocopies of certificates, list of publications (for Faculty) and the prescribed
application fee should reach The Director, National Institute of
