Outline: Common Source Amplifier Common Source Amplifier With Resistor R in The Source

The document discusses the common source amplifier. It begins by reviewing key aspects of MOSFET amplifier design including ensuring saturation, allowing DC current flow, and coupling to input/output. It then describes the common source amplifier circuit and shows its small signal model. Key parameters like voltage gain, input and output resistance are defined. The document goes on to analyze the common source amplifier without and with a resistor in the source circuit. It derives expressions for input resistance, drain current, output voltage and shows how the source resistor decreases drain current and output voltage.

Review: MOSFET Amplifier Design

A MOSFET amplifier circuit should be designed to
1. ensure that the MOSFET operates in the saturation
region,
2. allow the desired level of DC current to flow, and
3. couple to a small-signal input source and to an output
load.

Proper DC biasing is required!
