Pick the Create a new object icon
.
Type in Tray for the name of the
new part.
Un-check Use default template.
The default units of Pro/E is
inlbs_part_solid.
The units of the bracket are mm,
so select mmns_part_solid.
Click OK since the part will have
millimeters units.
Click OK in the New dialog box.
The default datum planes appear
in the graphics area.
Create a Base Feature
Create the base feature Pick the
Extrude Tool icon
In the dashboard, click the
option.
Click on Define.
Pick TOP datum plane as Sketch Plane.
For Sketch Orientation Reference,
accept default RIGHT datum plane.
Then click the Sketch button
.
Click the small downward
icon to expand, and pick
.
Draw horizontal and vertical centerlines through
coordinate system. These centerlines are used to ensure
symmetry of the section.
Click
, and draw the rectangle as shown. Note that
the rectangle should be symmetrical to both centerlines.

to dimension the rectangle.
to modify the dimension as shown.
Click
Type in 12 for the depth of extrusion.
Click

and select Standard
Orientation.
Create Draft in Three Faces of The Base Feature
The Draft feature adds a draft angle between -30 and +30 to individual surfaces or
to a series of surfaces. You can draft only the surfaces that are formed by tabulated
cylinders or planes. You cannot draft surfaces with fillets around the edge boundary.
However, you can draft the surfaces first, then fillet the edges.
Pick the Draft Tool icon
Pick FRONT, RIGHT-SIDE,
and REAR surfaces as
shown.
Expand the References
option by clicking
Pick the box area under Draft hinges, and select TOP datum plane.
Enter 5 as draft angle.
Be sure the resulted draft larger on the top surface of the base feature see figure
below.
Click on
to complete draft creation.
Create Both Sides Cut
Pick the Extrude Tool icon
Click the Remove
Material icon
Select the Extrude on
both sides icon
Click Options tab,
Select Through All for
Side 1 and Side 2.

References
Pick all edges as additional reference see figure below.
Pick it as reference.
Click Close.

Adding the Rounds

Click the Round Tool icon
Enter 6 for the radius of the round.
Pick the two edges as shown.
Be sure to press Ctrl key when
picking the second edges.

Pick the two vertical edges as shown.

Shell the Part
Click
. Enter the shell thickness of 1.75 mm.
Pick the top and left surfaces
as shown.

Select both sides

Create a Bottom Cut

Enter the depth of cut of
0.40 mm.

Pick the bottom surface as sketching plane, accept default, and click Sketch.

From Sketch pull-down menu, select References.
Pick the appropriate additional reference, and Close the Reference dialog box.
Sketch the following section.

Create a Tab Protrusion

Enter the depth of cut of 0.70
mm.
Click Placement -> Define.
Pick this top
surface as
sketching plane.
Make sure that RIGHT datum plane is selected as Reference, and Right
Orientation. Click Sketch.

References
Pick additional references as shown and Close:
Sketch and dimension the section as shown below:

Be sure the extrusion direction is correct
as shown in the figure.

Mirror the Tab
Select the tab (Extrude 5) feature from
the Model Tree. Pro/ENGINEER
highlights all of the part geometry in the
graphics window.
From Edit pull down menu, select the
Mirror Tool
Pick the FRONT datum plane as Mirror
plane.

Create a Sweep

Insert -> Sweep ->
Protrusion.
Select Traj.
Tangnt Chain
Pick the outer top edge
of the model.
Done

Change the display to hidden
line display by selecting

Zoom in to top area of the
part.
Sketch and dimension the following section. Be sure the line on the left is aligned
with the inclined hidden edge. Also top and bottom horizontal lines of the section are
in the same length see figure below. You might need to add references!

to complete the sweep.
ASSIGNMENT
Submit several shaded views (at least TWO views) showing TOP and BOTTOM of the
tray with your report. Be sure to turn the background to WHITE and turn-off ALL
datum features including the spin center.
