Allowat Sakima: (gives sign for silence) "My brothers, before we close this
council that has brought us together, let us pause to reflect upon the noble
purpose of our Order. Meteu, please remind us of our obligation as
members of this brotherhood of cheerful service."
Meteu: "My brothers, it is well to pause and think deep thoughts upon the
real purpose of our brotherhood. All of us have stood before the council fire
in the presence of Allowat Sakima and our brothers in the Order of the
Arrow. We have made the Scout sign and have repeated a solemn
obligation. First we said, 'On my honor as a scout'. This is a serious and
solemn statement. It means that we as Arrowmen must constantly strive to
do our best to keep our word and uphold our honor. Nutiket, remind us of
the first point of the Scout Law."
Nutiket: "A Scout is Trustworthy. A Scout's honor is to be trusted. If he were
to violate his honor by telling a lie or by cheating or by not doing exactly a
given task, when trusted on his honor, he may be directed to hand over his
scout badge."
Meteu: "Second we said, 'I will always and faithfully observe and preserve
the traditions of the Order of the Arrow, Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchisk,
Witahemui.' The traditions of the Order are unfolded on the pages of our
Order of the Arrow Handbook and are reinforced in our colorful and
significant ceremonies. Our Order exists as part of the program of the Boy
Scouts of America. All of us are first Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Explorers or
Scouters; and second, members of the Order of the Arrow. Our constant
aim is to strengthen Scouting, particularly scout camping. We were elected
by our fellows not so much for what we have done, but for what we are
expected to do."
Kichkinet: "A Scout is loyal. He is loyal to all whom loyalty is due, his Scout
Leader, his home, his parents and country. May we always be loyal to our
obligation in the Order of the Arrow."
Meteu: "Third, we have promised to regard the ties of brotherhood as
lasting. This means, my brothers that you and I must continue to treat our
fellow members in the Order as we wish to be treated ourselves and
