This document provides information on two stainless steel electrodes: OK 63.50 and OK 63.30. OK 63.50 is a low carbon electrode that deposits a weld metal of 18% Cr, 13% Ni and 2.8% Mo. It has outstanding weldability with excellent striking properties and a smooth, shiny weld. OK 63.30 is an extra low carbon electrode with the same weld metal composition as OK 63.50. It has outstanding weldability in all positions and is completely free of short-circuiting during welding. Both electrodes are used for welding 18/13/Mo type stainless steels.

DESCRIPTION OK 63.50 is a low carbon, rutile electrode with a unique low moisture absorption coating depositing a weldmetal of the type 18% Cr. 13% Ni, 2.8% Mo with a controlled ferrite number of 3-8 FN. The weldability of OK 63.50 is outstanding like any other ESAB stainless steel electrode with excellent striking and restriking properties, a self peeling slag and a weld that is extremely smooth and shiny. Its extreme ease of operation in all positions with exceedingly low spatter and stable arc makes it a favourite of welders.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS OK 63.50 is especially designed for the welding of 18/13/Mo type steels corresponding to AISI 316 and 317 type stainless steels. Commonly used in chemical tanks, coils and vats that are exposed to severe corrosion by sulphuric, sulphurous, hydrochloric, acetic, phosphoric, citric, tartaric acids that are found in paper and pulp industries, textile industries, chemical mixers, paint and dye industries. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS OK 63.30 is especially designed for the welding of 18/13/Mo type steels corresponding to AISI 316 and 316L, 317 type stainless steels. Commonly used in chemical tanks paper mill equipment, bleaching equipment, chemicals plants, textile plants, where vessel surfaces are exposed to severe corrosion by sulphuric, sulphurous, hydrochloric, acetic, phosphoric, citric, tartaric acids etc. and also for components exposed to high temperatures for e.g. heat resistant castings. It is also suitable for welding titanium and niobium stabilised 18-12 steels of the type SS 2344 & 2345 except when the corrosive conditions are severe.
