Nureva Span ideation system

Image alignment module NAM2-1

Sept 2015

Getting started
Use the steps provided in this guide to set up the image alignment module as part of your WM220i
Nureva Span ideation system installation.
Before you begin:

Ensure the two projected images are overlapping. Following the Nureva Span ideation system WM220i Installation guide should produce a two inch overlap of the images.

Two-channel image alignment module NAM2-1

Image alignment module software
Power supply

You must supply

Two 2-m Ethernet cables to connect Wi-Fi router to NAM2-1

Two 2-m HMDI cables to connect the projector PCs to NAM2-1
Two 10-m HDMI cables to connect the projectors to NAM2-1
Configuration PC A PC separate from the PCs connected to the WM220i projectors. This PC
must be Windows 8 or higher.
Wireless router

How it works
The image alignment module takes the video signal from the two PCs connected to the projectors and
lets you control the geometry of each image separately. The adjustment of the image is done using a
configuration PC wirelessly connected to a router that is connected to the module via the Ethernet jacks.
The images start with an overlap, then you use the configuration PC to shrink and adjust the images until
they are completely flush and edge touching. The image alignment module does not expand or enlarge
the images.

1. Set up PC, wireless router and image alignment module

communication

Use the two Ethernet cables to connect the wireless router to the image alignment module
Ensure the wireless router is set up to use the IP address range 192.168.0.xxConnect the control
PC to the wireless router with your desired SSID and security settings. The router will auto assign
an IP address for this computer so you will not need to make any changes to the PC.

The image alignment module has factory setting IP addresses:

Channel A 192.168.0.11

Channel B 192.168.0.12

We recommend using the preset IP addresses unless they conflict with your existing network setup. If
there is a conflict, use a small flat screwdriver to turn the three dials at the back of the module. Each dial
represents the incremental address octet; use the numbers on the dials to find your desired setting.

2. Use the image alignment software to align the two images

Ensure the four HDMI cables are connected from your projector and projector PCs to the NAM2-1. Once
they have been connected you will see two separate desktops on the screen. At this stage the images
should have a slight overlap along the middle edge.

Next, download, install and launch the configuration software onto your configuration PC.
A. Create two new channels
Click File and select New Multi-Function. The new channel will appear at the bottom of the panel
Repeat to create a second channel. There should now be two channels at the bottom of your
panel

B. Populate the channel settings

Start with the first channel you created by selecting from the panel at the bottom
Click the Generic tab
Set the resolution to 1920 x 720 60Hz
Select HDMI for Input Source Port
Fill in the IP address for that channel and click synchronize. The default factory settings for the IP
addresses are:
o Channel A: 192.168.0.11 IP-A / HDMI Out-A
o Channel B: 192.168.0.12 IP-B / HDMI Out-B

Once the connection has been made the channel icon at the bottom of the panel will get a green
checkmark
Repeat the process for the second channel

C. Use the Warp tab to bring the two projected images together
Select the channel from the bottom panel for whichever projector has the larger image
Click the Warp tab
Select Linear
Under Pattern, select Enable. Do not adjust any of the other settings under Pattern
Use the slider at the bottom of the panel to select a 2x2 grid

Use the slider at the top to move to a larger number initially by sliding it to the right. This adjusts
how much the control point moves. It is best to start with a larger number to move the points
quickly at the beginning, then move to a smaller number to make more precise adjustments.
Use the arrow control on the keyboard to move the grid points.
The screen will refresh every time a point position is moved. It is important to wait after each
adjustment for the screen to refresh before making the next adjustment.

D. Save the settings

Once the two images are aligned, save the file on the configuration PC. Once the alignment settings are
entered, they are preserved in the NAM2-1. If you need to re-adjust the images for any reason, open this
file and select Synchronize to use the file as a starting point.

3. Calibrate touch
Once the images have been aligned, touch must be calibrated.

Press the one touch calibration button on the projector remote control
Press and hold the crosshair symbol that appears on the screen until it changes to a darker
color. Lift your finger and follow the target to the next location. Repeat this step until the
calibration process is complete
Repeat the process with the second projector.

4. Set up your display

To display Span ideation software across the two projected images, login to the software on both displays
as the same user and select the same canvas. If this is the first time the software has been launched you
will need to configure the display settings for your system

Login with a username and password. The display settings window will pop-up automatically if
this is the first time the software has been launched. If the display settings window does not popup, click your username on the toolbar and select Display settings from the menu.

Click the plus sign (+) and create a room name. Creating a room allows you to specify how many
projectors are in your 'room' and thus how many displays the software has to project across.

Use the drop-down menu to select the room you created.

Select Dual display and then tap on the image of the right or left screen to indicate which side the
projector is on.

Tap Update to save the display settings

Launch the Span wall software on the second display and login with the same username and
password. Select the same room that you did for the first display. The software now knows that
your projectors are part of the same system and will open your canvas across both displays.

Alternatively, you can login to Span software on one display and use the second one for a separate
application. For example, your canvas would be on one display and an Excel sheet with data relevant to
the project would be on the second display.
