students in a student hall of residence or in private accommodation. The guarantee only applies to
applicants who apply with a complete student application form and an accommodation form within the
deadlines mentioned below.

You must upload this accommodation form in your online student application form. Since we need your
signature, you must print this form out, fill it in and then scan it.

Please be aware that:

By submitting this application form, you undertake to enter into a tenancy
agreement with the landlord who owns or administrates the accommodation. The
most essential conditions in the tenancy agreement are described in the following,
and please see an English translation of the tenancy agreement at:

Lease Contracts.
Right of withdrawal
In accordance with the Danish Act on Certain Consumer Contracts, you have the
right to withdraw from your residential tenancy agreement up to 14 days after you
have received the accommodation offer which is sent to you by email (the coolingoff period).
If you withdraw your application after termination of the cooling-off period
(i.e. the period in which you can withdraw from your tenancy agreement) , you will be
charged up to three months rent!

Application Deadlines
Autumn semester: May 1st
Spring semester: November 1st
Applicants sending in forms after these dates are not guaranteed accommodation!
Accommodation Offer
You only get one accommodation offer. It is sent to you by email by the Accommodation Office, usually
in July or early August/late December or early January.
Rent, Deposit, Etc.
The rent per month for a room is maximum DKK 3000.
On arrival you have to pay a deposit equivalent of maximum 3 months rent. For some rooms you
have to pay a furnishing fee of DKK 150-200 per month (furnishing is normally included in the rent).
Some rooms include room AND board; they cost about DKK 3600 per month total.
The overall payment of the first month is maximum DKK 12,000 (i.e. deposit and first months rent),
and per month thereafter maximum DKK 3000 for a room and DKK 3600 for a room and board.
License Fee
In Denmark every household with electric appliances such as TV, radio, video, DVD, computer with
internet access, mobile phone or similar electronic devices that work as a television or radio receiver has
to pay media license. As a student in Denmark with your own room, you will be a household. You
should therefore expect to have to pay this fee while you are here. You can find the current fee here
https://www.dr.dk/Om_DR/licens/Sprog/LicenceInEnglish.htm
Contents insurance
In Denmark you are expected to have contents insurance. If you choose not to take out insurance for
your housing, you should be aware that there is no coverage for you in case of theft, fire and burglary.
Rental Period
You pay rent from the date your accommodation is available.
If you come to Odense for the autumn semester starting September 1st, you will usually have to accept
and pay for accommodation from August 1st. Note, however, that you may not get accommodation until
around September 1st. If this is the case, you naturally only pay rent from September 1st.
If you come to Odense for the spring semester starting February 1st, you should expect to have to accept
and pay for accommodation as early as of January 1st and as late as February 1st. Note, that you may not
get accommodation until around February 1st. Again, you then only pay rent from February 1st.
You are responsible for paying rent for the room assigned to you until the termination of the tenancy
agreement. Be aware that you have to pay rent two weeks after you move out of your room.
Please be aware that notice of termination of tenancy agreement must be given up to three months before
you wish to leave your accommodation. It is only possible to give notice from the 1st or the 15th of the
month.

Housing conditions
You are placed in an off campus student hall or in private accommodation. In general you should expect
to share kitchen and/or bathroom with one or more persons. You are likely to share kitchen and/or
bathroom with a person of the opposite sex. On rare occasions you may share kitchen and/or bathroom
with a person who is not a student.
Be aware that you should not expect to be able to be two people sharing one room. The norm in
Denmark is one student to one room and most often you are not allowed to be more than one person in
one room.
