requestsfromenduserorganizationsforatleastroughguidanceonwhattoexpect.Preciseguidanceis
difficult,becausevendorshavedifferentpricingmodels,organizationshavedifferentskillsetsand
methodologies,andapprequirementscanvarywidely.Nevertheless,itispossibletodefineasimple
threetierstructureforcostsforaninitialmobiledevelopmentproject:low,midrangeandenterprise.Low
islessthan$25,000peryear,midrangeisbetween$25,000and$100,000,andenterpriseisabove
$100,000,asdefinedinNote1.EveryvendorprofileinthisMagicQuadranthasamentionofcostsusing
thiscoarsegrainedcategorization.
AstheMADPsectorcontinuesitsrobustgrowthandevolution,thequestionarises,"Wherewillthingsgo

fromhere?"Vendorshavebroadenedanddeepenedofferingsto,inmanycases,arriveatarobustand
completemobiledevelopmentplatform.FragmentationsuchasnativeversushybridversusWebhas
beeneliminated,oratleasttempered.Despitethevendors'undeniableprogressintoolsandplatforms,
thecriticmaysaythatthefinalresultisaverygoodmobilesilo:functional,comprehensiveand
worthwhilebutasilononetheless.ThefutureevolutionofMADPistogobeyondthemobilesilo,inthe
directionofaunifieddigitalchannel,sothatorganizationscanfieldasingledigitalpresencethatspans
desktopWeb,mobileWeb,mobileapps,andappsforotherdevicesandchannelssuchaskiosksand
wearables.Thiswillenableorchestrationofexperiencesacrosschannelsthroughtheconstructionof
coordinatedsolutionstargetingdifferentchannels,andoptimizedfortheparticularcapabilitiesofeach
channel.ThisiswhatGartnercallsensembleorcontinuousinteractionwhenauserbeginsa
transactionononedeviceandcontinuesitonotherdevicesorchannels,sometimesinsequencebutalso
inparallel.Thisvisionofacontinuousexperienceacrosschannelswilltakeyearstobefullyrealized.This
willlikelyrequireamixofchannelspecifictechnologiesintegratedwithchannelneutralbackend
