Hugh wrote his will on 26 Aug 1816 at Preston, Chenango, NY. He left his six sons his 372 acre farm in Preston after Elizabeth's death and cash to his four
granddaughters named DOWITH. He made his son Nehemiah executor. The estate was inventoried in Nov 1816. In 1825 Nehemiah bought his brothers'
shares of the farm. Under the will, the farm was supposed to remain in tact until Elizabeth's death

On 15 April 1825 Hugh's youngest brother Abel, acting as Hugh's attorney, sold to their brother Nehemiah for $113 Hugh's 62 acre share in their father's
372 acre farm in Preston, NY. Because the deed mentions no wife for Hugh, it is evident he was than single perhaps widowed.

Hugh is a good candidate to be the father of Josiah and Jerial Smith, tentatively listed here as his sons. Of the six sons of Hugh Sr. the mirgrant from CT to
Chenango county NY, only Hugh and his younger brother Jerial did not remain in Chenango county NY but settled farther west in NY state. Of these two
brothers, Jerial seems a shade young to have been the father of the two men listed bleow. Thus, Hugh's possible children, born in CT (census) were:

Nehemiah Smith came from Lyme, Conn., in 1801, and settled on Fort Hill, in Oxford village. He was a carpenter and cabinet-maker, and pursued that
vocation here till his death, in December, 1835. His wife, Elizabeth Gee, a native of Lyme, Conn., died in Oxford in 1858.Their children were: Erastus, who
married Sophia McNeil, of Oxford, settled in Oxford, and afterwards removed to Buffalo, where he died Oct. 26, 1847, aged 56; Charles, who removed to
California, and died unmarried; Betsey, who died in Oxford, unmarried, in 1836; James, who went to New Orleans, and died there unmarried; Susan, who

The most of the old settlers who came here during the early part of the nineteenth century were poor in pocket, but, possessed of an unlimited amount of
energy and perseverance, and having faith in the country, "stuck it out," and were successful. Among them were Nehemiah Smith, the third of that name, a
native of Lyme, Conn., who settled on Fort Hill in this village in 1801. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker, which vocation he pursued till his death in
December, 1835. Elizabeth (Gee) Smith, his widow, died in 1858.

the Judson brothers, David, John, Lewis, Everett, and Philo, came to Oxford in 1812 from Stamford, Fairfield, CT and conducted a woolen mill on the
Georgetown road for serveral years. John, Lewis and Everett finally moved from town; the latter died October 27, 1864 at Candor, NY aged 71. David
purchased the property now known as the David G. Barber place, and resided there until his death. Philo came into the village and conducted a mill near the
present site of the Harrington block. He lived on Washington street, in the house now occupied by Miss Clarinda Lewis. their father, John Judson, was a
Revolutionary Soldier.

Glenn Lucian Taylor, a resident of La Mesa for the past 52 years died of leukemia Thursday (June 2, 1988) in Grossmont Hospital. He was 78.
A service is planned Monday morning at 10 at Greenwood Mortuary. Mr. Taylor was born in Merrill, Iowa, in 1909. He moved to San Diego in 1936 and
worked as a switchman for Pacific Bell before retiring in 1975 after 38 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marie; a daughter, Sharon

1908 - April 18, 2000 Erma Taylor, 91, of Salem died Tuesday. She was born in Anthon, Iowa, and married Thomas in 1928. They moved to Salem in
1948. She was an accountant for the state of Oregon for 23 years, retiring in 1971. Her husband died in 1976. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and flower
gardens. Survivors include her daughters, Marlys Triplett of Jefferson and Janice Dixon of Salem seven grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. Visiting will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at Restlawn Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the mortuary.

Larry G. Taylor, 62, of Salem died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, in Salem. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem.
Interment will be in City View Cemetery, Salem.
Larry G. Taylor was born July 11, 1945, in Sioux City, the son of Myron "Mike" N. and Evelyn G. (Wetrosky) Taylor, where he was raised. He moved to
Salem in 1967. Mr. Taylor had worked in the sheet metal industry all of his life. Some of his projects included working on the Portland Convention Center,
the Lloyd Towers, the Portland Center for the Performing Arts and the Capitol Expansion in the 1970s. He enjoyed gardening and camping
Survivors include his wife, Melissa of Salem; his children, Dani Jean Johnson of Warrenton, Ore., Andrew Dwight Taylor of Portland, Ore., and Curtis
Glenn Taylor of Hillsboro, Ore.; a brother-in-law, Norman Westergaard of Sloan, Iowa; three grandsons; four nephews; four nieces; four great nephews;
and three great nieces.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Byron Taylor in 1982; his father, Mike Taylor in 1983; his mother, Evelyn Taylor in 2001; and a sister,

SLOAN, Iowa -- Marlene A. Westergaard, 65, of Sloan died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa, with the Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Fairview
Township Cemetery, Albaton. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of
Rush Family Care Services at Onawa, Iowa.

Marlene was born Feb. 9, 1939 in Sioux City, the daughter of Mike and Evelyn (Wetrosky) Taylor. She graduated from Central High School in 1957 and
entered the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1960. She trained in Iowa City and Hastings, Neb. and taught nursing at St. Luke's Hospital
in Sioux City for two years.

She married Norman Westergaard on Aug. 21, 1971 in Sioux City. The couple made their home at Albaton. Marlene was a professional piano entertainer
around Siouxland and composed and recorded "The Return of Sioux City Sue".

She was a member of Skien Lutheran Church, where she shared responsibilities of organist for 30 years, was a member of Sloan Birthday Club and the
Albaton Barbecue Bunch. She enjoyed traveling, watching movies and cooking and was well known for her infamous spaghetti sauce.

Survivors include her husband, Norman; children, Nancy and her husband, Juan Hernandez, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Debbie Griffith of Arvada, Colo. ,
Mike and his wife, Tracy Andrew, of Sioux City, Marcia and her husband, Jay Erickson, of Leesburg, Va., Patti Blake of Sloan and Kris Westergaard of
Sloan; grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley and Joshua Andrew, Kelli Blake, Sean Westergaard, Shayla and Kassey Griffith, Abby Erickson, Sabina and Benjamin
Hernandez, Timber, Tyson and Tasha Bourassa; a brother and his wife, Larry and Melissa Taylor or Salem, Ore.; her mother-in-law, Mildred Westergaard
of Whiting; and a sister-in-law, Inga Vestergaard of Denmark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son-in-law, Dennis Blake
