INT. HOTEL LOBBY-NIGHT

The hotel is old, there are four people sitting down on a

couch in the lobby

One of the persons is rubbing his eye, they are all staring
at the man who just walked in.

JAMES STEVENSON (30s skinny, wearing glasses and a button up

shirt tucked into his pants. He has a small suitcase) walks
up towards the desk.

James looks around for a second, he finds a bell on the the

desk and rings it.

*

A man walks out behind a corner its the NIGHT PORTER (40s
wearing a suit he looks very elegant) James takes his wallet
out.

Hello sir.

NIGHT PORTER

JAMES
James Stevenson.
James hands his I D to the Night Porter.

The Night Porter types on the computer.

As the Night Porter types on the computer James turns away

from him and looks back. He notices that the four people
sitting behind him are staring right at him.

CUT TO:

INT. FOURTH FLOOR-NIGHT

The hallway is dark and looks sickly, the door of room 406
starts to open by itself.

The room is pitch black.

A spot light starts to shine down on four people standing

side by side. Its the four people from the lobby.

They all look injured. One has blood shot eyes, another has
cuts all over his arm that he cant stop rubbing, the third
has blood coming from his ear and the final one has their
mouth wide open.

INT. HOTEL LOBBY-NIGHT

James appears to be in a daze staring at the 4 people. He

snaps out and then turns back towards the Night Porter.

As James turns back he is startled to see the Night Porter

holding keys (labeled 407) right in front of his face.

NIGHT PORTER
Oh god! Sorry I didnt mean to
startle you.

*

*

JAMES
(annoyed)
Dont worry its... its fine.

*

NIGHT PORTER
(disappointed)
Im... Im so sorry. Heres your I
D James I mean sir.

*

JAMES
Thanks. Am, are we done?

Um? Yes!

NIGHT PORTER

James takes the keys with his I D and walks away.

NIGHT PORTER (CONTD)
Oh wait sir!
James turns, he looks annoyed.
NIGHT PORTER (CONTD)
Im sorry I need your to sign this.

The Night Porter shows James a piece of paper.

James walks over to the Night Porter, signs the paper and
looks up at the Night Porter.

JAMES
That everything?

Yes!

NIGHT PORTER

James looks hesitant for a moment then he relaxes.

JAMES
Okay. Have a good night.

*

James walks towards the elevator.

NIGHT PORTER
Enjoy your stay Sir.
He presses the up button, the door opens and James walks in.
He presses the button labeled 4. As the door is closing he
can see that one of the people sitting on the couch is still
looking at him.

The door closes.

INT. FOURTH FLOOR-NIGHT

The elevator door opens and James walks out. He starts

walking down the hall and comes to his room 407.
James then turns and looks back at door 406. He walks back
towards it and stares at it for a second. He looks around and
then bends down to look through the between the door and the
floor. He cant see anything.

INT. FOURTH FLOOR-NIGHT

James stands up and walks away from the door of room 406. He
goes to room 407, puts the key in, opens the door and walks
in, the door closes.
The door handle then of room 406 starts to turn slowly and
opens.

INT. ROOM 407-NIGHT

The room is small all it consists of is a double bed, a T.V

and a night table next to the bed.
James goes to the washroom and turns on the light. The
washroom is also small with a sink in the middle between a
toilet and a shower.
James turns the light off and walks towards the bed.
He sits down and gives the bed a test bounce. He lays down on
it for a second. He then shoots up and walks over to his
suitcase.
James opens up the suitcase and takes out a book. He walks
back towards the bed and sits down with his back on the base.
He starts to read.

As James is reading, his eyes slowly start to getting heavier

until he falls asleep

DREAM SEQUENCE

INT. WASHROOM-NIGHT

James is on the toilet. He sits there for a few seconds, he

finishes, then starts to grab toilet paper and wipes his
butt. He stands up, pulls his underwear up and goes to wash
his hands.
As hes washing his hands he hears a scratching noise. He
shuts the water off and listens.
He doesnt hear anything.
James then dries his hands and turns the shower on.
Once again he hears scratching noises.
James turns the shower off.
He doesnt hear anything.
James turn the shower back on, takes his underwear off and
steps in.

INT. SHOWER-NIGHT

James is standing in the shower enjoying the water splashing

on his head, he then hears the scratching noises again.
James snaps out of his daze and listens, he notices the
scratching is coming from the wall next to him.
He shuts the shower off and then starts to lean his ear in
closer to the wall. As he gets closer he can start to hear a
faint sound of a womans voice.

His ear is then pushes up against the wall and the sounds of
scratching and the voice stop.
James looks confused.
Then the soft voice of a woman returns
WOMANS VOICE
(confused)
Can you hear me?

James jumps back in fear, falls out of the shower and lands
next to the toilet.

INT. WASHROOM-NIGHT

James puts his hand on his head in pain.

Damn!

JAMES

James then looks in disgust when he realizes that his other

hand fell in the unflushed toilet bowl.
He leans over and flushes the toilet.

INT. ROOM 407-NIGHT

James walks out of the washroom in his underwear and swiftly

puts his pants, shirt, and shoes on.
James then goes and opens his door and walks into the
hallway.

INT. FOURTH FLOOR-NIGHT

James swiftly walks towards room 406.

He knocks on the door.
JAMES
(upset)
Hello! (Beat) Miss I know youre in
there. (Beat) Miss!
James then starts to walk away, but is stopped when he hears
the scratching noises again.
He turns back and walks to room 406.
The scratching noises can still be heard. James bends down
and looks through the crack between the door and the floor
again desperate to see.

Once again he cant see anything

James stands up and looks at the door confused.

JAMES
(annoyed)
Fuck.

James walks down the hall over to the elevator.

As he walks James hears the noise of a door knob turn and a

door slowly creaking open.

James pauses and hesitantly turns to look back at down the

hall.

*

Once he turns he sees the door of room 406 cracked open and a
pale white arm reaching out towards him.

Help me!

WOMANS VOICE

James gets one look at the haunting image and runs towards
the elevator.

He presses the down button franticly as he continues to look

back and hear the womans voice.

The elevator door opens.

James rushes in and presses for the ground floor.

The doors close.

The woman makes a whining noise as her arm slowly goes back
in the room and the door of room 406 closes shut.

The Night Porter closes a book standing behind the counter,

looking tired.
James walks over to him in a swift panic.
When the Night Porter comes in James sight.
JAMES
(panic)
Excuse me!

NIGHT PORTER
Ah, James I mean Sir how is...

JAMES
(panic)
Now listen here and listen good
Ive had a long fucking day and all
I want is a nice place to sleep.
Now those four fucks sitting down
here I can handle, but having my
neighbor whispering through the
wall, making weird scratchy noises
and then sticking... Um.

Anyway I dont know whats going on
with her but she is freaking me
out. I dont know if you can like
call her and tell her to cut the
crap, but if you could it would be
awesome.
NIGHT PORTER
Yeah, I cant do that.

in there.

James looks away annoyed.

NIGHT PORTER (CONTD)

James slowly turns back to look at the Night Porter.

JAMES
I, are you telling me I saw a
ghost.

NIGHT PORTER
Um well yes... let me try and
explain.

The Night Porter takes a deep breath.

NIGHT PORTER (CONTD)
Room 406 used to be owned by a
woman. Her room caught on fire and
she was burned alive. The room was
renovated but guests became
frightened of it and we closed it
off. They kept reporting seeing a
woman. A woman with pale white skin
and bold red lips wearing a long
black dress, with eyes covered in
black.

James is stricken with fear when he realizes that the Night

Porter just described the woman he saw almost to a tee with
out him telling the Night Porter any details.

He slowly starts to walk away

NIGHT PORTER (CONTD)

First time I ever heard of contact
coming from the room next to
though.

I need a new room (beat) not on the
fourth floor.
