JULY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
"Get Fired Up" was one of the many
upcoming events that the council of St. John's
Lutheran Church discussed at the July meeting.
August 16 will be a fun day as we celebrate
Rally Day for the Sunday School and also send
off Aline Skogstoe as she begins her year with
Young Adults in Global Mission. Please mark
your calendars and plan to come and partake
in the BBQ grilling and pie baking contest.
After enjoying the noon meal you will vote for
your favorites and enjoy some old fashioned
games.
St. John's council spent time learning about
the Good Samaritan Fund and its limits. As we
hope to reach out to the community around
us, we have requested that a group develop
guidelines for the fund. We hope to be in a
position to help with the needs of members as
well as nonmembers.
The Property Committee report brought
forward the list of projects that are being
addressed now and those that are in queue to
be worked on in the future. The report
provided interesting information regarding
where our property offerings are used and
why.
A complete copy of the minutes is available
by mail or email by contacting the church
office.

SEPTEMBER
MEANS FOOD
PANTRY
Time again to
think about the
Norfolk Food Pantry
and how you can
help! St. Johns
supports the pantry
by donations of nonperishable food items,
monetary gifts to
purchase the perishable foods, and by
volunteers who sack groceries during
September for two hours each weekday
morning. THANK YOU!
* Non-perishable food may be left in the
collection boxes in the west hall, the narthex
and by the church office.
* Monetary gifts (placed in an envelope
designated Food Pantry) may be placedin the
offering plate or dropped off in the curch
office.
* To give of your time to help at the
pantry, check todays Registration Slip or call
Shirley Frowick @ 402-644-7882.
Thank you, too, for your donations of egg
cartons and plastic grocery bags which are
also needed!

DIFFERENCE!

Thank you so much for getting me to Augusta,

ME! Thats nearly to the coast! At $2 a mile, I
still have a long way to go to get
to the St. Swithuns Boarding
School for Girls in Winchester,
UK. If you want to help get me
to England, you can put your
contribution in the offering
plate. Make checks payable to St. Johns and put
for Aline in the memo line. Keep checking the
bulletin to see how far Ive travelled.

Come check out St. John's August 22-23

during our

Open House Weekend!

Join us for worship Saturday(5pm)
or Sunday (8:30 & 11 am) and learn
about the variety of ministries that
happen through our congregation.
Saturday evening worship will be
followed by a fellowship meal.
On Sunday morning between worship
services, Nebraska Lutheran Campus
Ministry - Norfolk will host donuts &
coffee. Visit with a variety of groups
during a ministry showcase. Come on
your own, or bring friends & family. It's an
Open House Weekend at St. John's!

Mission emphasis in
August is the Norfolk
Food Pantry. There is
always a need for the
staples, but particularly
peanut butter. A
PEANUT BUTTER
PYRAMID has been
started in the west
hallway under the coatrack. Stack your
donations for a visible reminder of how
we can help!

Thank you everyone for the cards and

good wishes for my 90th birthday. I
enjoyed them all! God bless you all.
