3 - Net is showing zero but gross and mass are showing a value.
Base density is used to calculate net flow rate. Check for base density input. Base density for Steam,
Oxygen, and other similar products needs to be entered manually in the Flow Computer.
5 - Power is applied to the flow computer but the display is OFF and the LED on the CPU
under the display is not blinking.
A) Verify that the power at the Flow Computer is 24 volt after being connected with the flow computer (no
power drop).
B) Check the fuse on the terminal board and make sure it is not blown.
C) Put the ammeter in series with the loop. Make sure that the Flow Computer is using more than 125 mA
@ 24Volt or double that @ 12Volt. If the power consumption is about 30mA, it means that the DC/DC
transformer is not functioning for lack of power to it or blown power components.
6 - Current consumption is very low but not zero and no voltage drop.
Current regulator is blown, and CPU board must be sent for repair. The cause would be over voltage in
excess of 39 volts or blown LT power regulator.
7 - The display shows one dark line and nothing else is showing.
This indicates that the program is not running. Common reasons would be:
A) Bad EPROMS.
Windows 95 environment, there might be an active application using the serial port. Therefore, you
should close all active applications or simply exit to DOS. If all failed, then it would mean that the RS232
port on the Flow Computer or the PC is not working.
12 - I'm Using Windows 2000 or Windows XP and I get Time Out messages constantly.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP are not totally compatible with DOS applications. We have found that
the serial communications are affected under these operating systems. There are several options that
you might try in your computer.
The first option is to use a DOS boot disk and boot your machine in DOS mode and use our software,
then reboot your machine in Windows once you are done.
A second option is to install a third-party software to handle 16-bit DOS applications in Windows (for
example, Direct-IO, www.direct-io.com - click here for instructions installing DirectIO).
When the communication problems are mild, we have found that modifying the Comm port buffer solves
this problem. To do this, go to the Window's Device Manager and select the comm port you are using.
Go to Port Settings and press the Advanced button and place your Receive and Transmit FIFO Buffers to
1.
15 - Frequency input is coming in but the value shown on the diagnostic screen differs
from the real input.
This symptom indicates that the pulse input coming in is not a clean pulse. To resolve this issue the
signal must be cleaned using a filter (capacitor-resistor) before entering it to the flow computer.
16 - PID Control is configured but all the readings in the PID Screen are zero.
In order to use the PID control, one of the analog outputs in the flow computer must be assigned as PID
Output. Once the output is assigned, the PID settings will become effective.
converter requiring only a 2-Wire connection. The 485D9TB has a terminal block which makes the wiring
more convenient and provides the option of external 12V power for low power serial ports. Model
485SD9R can also be used, but it has a DB9 terminal which requires additional cables. With Model
485SD9R the pins that connect to the flow computer are pin 3 on the DB9 to TX on the flow computer and
pin 8 on the DB9 goes to RX on the flow computer.
For a USB to RS485 converter, we recommend Model USTL4, which is also port powered and supports
half and full duplex networks.
Forcing download mode could be required if a wrong type of application image was loaded or other
issues. Call our main office for more information. Contact technical support for old MicroMV boards
loaded with downloader v1.
Steps to force the board into download mode.
(1) Remove Power
(2) Put a jumper on P6 (Check manual for the jumper position)
(3) Power up the board
(4) Board is in download mode
(5) Download image (Check manual for how to download an image)
(6) Remove power and jumper on P6 after a new image is loaded
(7) Board is ready
