    INSTRUCTIONS

    Note: Ch 3 at beg of rnd counts as dc.

    Lily sugarn cream


    CHERRY PIE HOT PAD (TO CROCHET)
    MEASUREMENT
    Approx 9" [23 cm] diameter.
    MATERIALS
    Lily Sugarn Cream (70.9 g/2.5 oz; 109 m/120 yds)
    Contrast A Jute (00082)
    1 ball (85 m/90 yds)
    Contrast B Country Red (01530)
    1 ball (36 m/40 yds)
    Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
    GAUGE
    15 sc and 16 rows = 4" [10 cm].

    Ch 4.
    1st rnd: 5 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 6 dc.
    2nd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. 2 dc in each dc around. Join
    with sl st to top of ch 3. 12 dc.
    3rd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. 2 dc in each dc around. Join
    with sl st to top of ch 3. 24 dc.
    4th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *1 dc in next dc. 2 dc in next dc.
    Rep from * to last dc. 1 dc in last dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 36 dc.
    5th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *1 dc in each of next 2 dc. 2 dc
    in next dc. Rep from * to last 2 dc. 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. Join with sl st
    to top of ch 3. 48 dc.
    6th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *1 dc in each of next 2 dc. 2 dc
    in next dc. Rep from * to last 2 dc. 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. Join with sl st
    to top of ch 3. 64 dc.
    7th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *1 dc in each of next 3 dc. 2 dc
    in next dc. Rep from * to last 3 dc. 1 dc in each of last 3 dc. Join with sl st
    to top of ch 3. 80 dc. Fasten off.
    Lattice Strips
    Long Strip (make 4)
    **With A, ch 2, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
    1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn.
    2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in sc. Turn.**
    Rep last row until Strip measures 8" [20.5 cm], when slightly stretched.
    Fasten off, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
    Medium Strip (make 4)
    Work from ** to ** as given for Long Strip.
    Rep last row until Strip measures 7" [18 cm], when slightly stretched.
    Fasten off, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
    Short Strip (make 4)
    Work from ** to ** as given for Long Strip.
    Rep last row until Strip measures 6" [15 cm], when slightly stretched.
    Fasten off, leaving a 5" [12.5 cm] end.
    FINISHING
    Place WS of Base and Filling pieces tog. Lay Strips on top and following
    diagram, weave Strips into crust top, taking care to keep Strips flat.
    Using yarn ends at each end of Strip, sew ends of Strips in position to
    outer edge (working through all thicknesses to secure all pieces).
    Edging: 1st rnd: (RS). Join A with sl st through all thicknesses in any dc
    at outer edge. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. Work 79 sc around outer
    edge. Join with sl st to first sc. 80 sc.
    2nd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. *Miss next sc. (Sl st. Ch 3. 1 dc) in
    next sc. Rep from * around to last sc. Miss last sc. Join with sl st at base of
    ch 3. Ch 13 for hanging loop. Join with sl st in last sl st. Fasten off.
