Chartered Logistic Surveillance System Module

Description.
Cargo (or freight) is goods or produce transported, generally for commercial gain, by
ship or aircraft, although the term is now extended to intermodal train, van or truck.In
chartered logistics a normal user can automate his shipping process and reduce
paperwork. Information assets such as address books help ensure correct shipping
information, while shipping histories and e-mail notifications give you better shipping
insight.From any desktop with an Internet connection, you can schedule a collection,
create a shipping or return label, or cancel your shipment.

The application is done PHP with Mysql as the database. Major modules of the system

A. Administrator of the Website

The Admin maintains the website and manages the transport of the logistics.Admin
plays the major role in checking the validity of the user and a particular shipping
company. Though his control panel he can
1. Login
Admin can login to the application with userId and password. Admin can
change the existing password.
2. Add/update/delete the logistic company
3. Add/update/delete the user .If the admin finds the user is fraud he can suspend
him and that user wont be able to access the website again.

B. Registered users

Public can register and login to the website using a valid credential.
1. Registration
New user can register by submitting the following information.
Name, address, date of birth, valid email id, phone number, Address
2. Login
Once the registration is approved by the admin, a password will be send to the
user via email provided. User can login to the application using the email as userID and the given password.
3. Profile Update
Registered user can update the address, phone number and password of his
profile

The major functionalities of the user includes

1. Prepare Shipment
The registered user can prepare the shipment online. First the user has to
choose the type of shipping whether its of the following type

Express
Expedited
Normal

The second step is selecting the Service. There are different types of Services like

International
Domestic
Heavy weight

The users have to enter the location from the shipping is transferred and the
destination address. When a Ground package is picked up, the company immediately
forwards it to the nearest distribution center for sorting and processing. As a package
works its way through the distribution center, advanced bar code scanning technology
automatically routes the package based on the label applied when the package was

shipped. The package is grouped with other packages destined for the same
geographic area then loaded onto a truck for delivery or transport to another distribution
centre.

2. Entering Information about the cargo


The user has to enter all the details of the cargo like

How many packages are there?


The weight of each package
Dimensions of the package
Whether its a document or product
Shipment purpose
Invoice value
If its document, whether its personal or inter professional
If its a product What basically are the products and the quantity
If the product is very costly, then the need of insurance.

C. Supervisors
Once the shipment and the order details are obtained, the supervisor has to go
and check whether the details entered are correct and its valid or not.Here in this
website when the user submit the shipment order and the luggages,a mail is sent by the
supervisor to the admin.The admin has to activate it.Once the process is activated,the
shipment will continue.

D. Simulation of Payment Gateways like PayPal


The user can pay his bill online through dummy payment gateway PayPal.
The website will have a dummy PayPal account and once the amount is paid the user
will get notification that this much amount is deducted from his account. He will get this
notification as email.

E. Freight Calculator
In this module the user can do the following functionalities
1. Billing and Invoice Tools

The user can view the invoice online and take printout of the invoice when
need.He can view the bill and if he wants to make any last minute check up for
the bill before paying.This bill is valid and is future used for the user in tax
deductions and other puroses in future.
2. Custom Tools
This provides various tools that are needed for the cargo shipping.For
International shipping they will charge extra Duty and tax.This tool will help us to
calculate the various charges like the tax,duty charge etc need for the particular
shipping.

F. Tracking the Cargo


When the user ships a particular cargo,a tracking number will be given to the user
through sms or notification. The user can login on the app and track the cargo .He will
also get a detailed report on when the cargo will reach the final destination.The travelled
path and the distance covered will be highlighted on the google map.
