CONTROLLER MANUAL
Introduction
Page 3B/5 shows all the options available in the Controller and the corresponding page which describes how to
operate in that option.
Whenever the Series 200 Controller is switched on the controller runs through a series of self checks and the
display shows the following information.
Because the controller is designed to maintain information relating to the loom and Jacquard when it is
switched off, part of these self checks validate this information in order to check for possible corruption.
Depending upon the result of the self checks, the screen will display the type of initialisation required. If
corruption of the information stored in the controller is detected, the screen will display
Performing Cold Start
If the self checks show that the information stored has not been corrupted the screen displays :
Performing Warm Start
Cold Start means that the controller is being started without any information relating to the operation of the
loom and Jacquard.
Note:
Following a Cold Start, ensure that the controller is configured so that it may operate correctly with your
Jacquard/Loom combination. (See Pages 3B/38- 50).
A Cold Start is only performed in the unlikely event of corruption of the configuration information. In the vast
majority of cases a Warm Start is performed, which means that the controller will start up in the same
programmed state as it was when it was last running.
The initialisation messages stay on the screen for approximately 3 seconds after which the screen displays the
main menu and the controller can be operated as required.
Two levels of operation are provided one of which allows the operator to access all of the functions of the
controller. This level of operation is termed Full Access. The second level restricts operation to just three
options and is termed Limited Access. Depending on the level the controller has been set up to operate, the
screen will then display the appropriate menu options.
To move to the Full Menu from the Limited Menu a code number must be used, see page 3B/8.

activated. Once a shift is activated, any previous production figures for that shift are lost. Before the new shift

A running total of the production figures for each shift is kept in the Total Production figures and these can be

Information entered into the configuration menus must be correct. If the wrong information is entered
serious faults can occur in the loom / Jacquard systems.
When this option is selected , the screen will ask for confirmation of the chosen option. This is to prevent
accidental alteration of the configuration information.
In order to allow the controller to drive the Jacquard and loom correctly, it must first be configured. The
Configure Controller option allows the operator to enter this configuration information. The configuration of the
controller is divided into three groups; configuration of the Jacquard, configuration of the loom and general
configuration.
This menu option will normally only be selected when the controller is being commissioned as most of the
configuration information relates specifically to the loom/Jacquard combination, and so will not change.
However, some of the general configuration information such as the time and user access level may be altered
from time to time.

The Jacquard has a built in safety feature to stop overheating the solenoids.
If the Jacquard is stopped in a position where the solenoids are continuously
energised, all power to the solenoids will be cut, after a time of approximately
one minute. (This is refered to as Timed out)

Series 200 controller configuration
The configuration menu offers 3 options for configuring the controller which in turn
allow certain features of the controller to be set to the user requirements.
1. CONFIGURE JACQUARD
JACQUARD TYPE
Three options, selected by using the function keys designated as left and right
cursor keys. The required option is accepted by pressing the OK function key.
The three options are:Normal
This is a Jacquard fed by a single data line from the controller. (up to
2688 ends depending upon the Jacquard.)
Split
This is a Jacquard with single data line but allowing the controller to split
the Jacquard in two halves, weaving two designs across the loom.
Dual
A double Jacquard with two serial lines allowing two different designs to
be sent to each of the jacquards and so two designs to be woven across
the loom.
LOOM PIECES
This indicates the number of repeats of a design appearing across the loom so that
the correct stopping condition after a given number of repeats of one design can
be identified. The count should be entered using the numeric keys and accepted
with the return key.
2. CONFIGURE LOOM
WEFT OUTPUT POSITION
This indicates the position in the looms cycle when the weft information is to be
presented to the loom. See fig 3B/58 on the next page.
On pick at top dead centre
The weft information is output at top dead centre of the pick cycle in
which the weft is to be inserted in the shed..
Pre selected at timing signal
The loom provides a timing signal which gives the exact position for the
weft information to be output, pre selection indicates that the weft
information will be output in the pick cycle before the weft is to be
inserted in the shed.
On pick at timing signal
The weft information will be output at the timing signal, provided by the
loom, in the pick cycle in which the weft is to be inserted in the shed..
